I headed to the room the maids had prepared for me.

As I looked around, I quietly examined every corner.

It was spacious, elegant, and beautifully furnished.

Still...

It wasn’t really my style.

After familiarizing myself with the room, I took a quick shower before climbing into bed.

After two days of traveling...

I was completely exhausted.

The moment my head touched the pillow, I fell asleep.

...

I didn’t know how long I had been sleeping.

All I knew was that something kept poking my face.

”...Mm...”

Still half asleep, I slowly opened my eyes.

The first thing I saw was Amy sitting beside my bed, repeatedly poking my cheek with a grin on her face.

I rubbed my eyes sleepily.

”...Why are you bothering me?”

”Let me sleep...”

Amy completely ignored my complaint.

Instead, she poked my cheek again.

A mischievous grin spread across her face.

I finally sat up with a groan.

”Ahhh...”

”You’re so annoying.”

Amy only smirked.

”Hey, sleepyhead.”

”Breakfast’s about to start.”

”Aren’t you coming?”

My sleepy brain failed to process her words immediately.

I blinked once.

Then twice.

A few seconds later...

The meaning finally reached my brain.

”...Breakfast.”

My eyes widened.

”This isn’t home.”

”If I’m late to breakfast in the Imperial Palace...”

”That would be embarrassing.”

I immediately jumped out of bed and rushed toward the bathroom.

Behind me, I heard Amy laughing.

”Hey!”

”Slow down!”

”You’ll hit your head on something!”

I glanced back at her, ready to argue.

”I wo—”

Thud!

I walked straight into the wall.

”Oww...”

I clutched my forehead in pain.

Amy’s laughter instantly doubled.

”Hahaha!”

”I literally just warned you!”

”And you still managed to hit the wall!”

I rubbed my aching forehead while giving her an annoyed glare before silently walking into the bathroom.

After taking a quick shower, I changed into a fresh set of clothes from my Space Storage.

When I came back out, Amy was sitting on the bed, patiently waiting for me.

The moment she saw me, she smiled and stood up.

I gave her another annoyed look before walking over to my bed.

As usual, I carefully began making it.

Amy folded her arms as she watched.

”No.”

”Straighten that corner.”

”And that side too.”

”Smooth out the blanket.”

”That pillow’s crooked.”

I clenched my fists.

”...Yes, Miss Amy.”

I quickly fixed everything she pointed out before finishing the bed.

Only after she nodded in satisfaction did we leave the room together.

Since I had no idea where the dining hall was, I simply followed behind Amy as she confidently led the way through the Imperial Palace.

Soon, we arrived at the dining hall.

Inside, the Empress, Mom, Astrid, Isabella, Elena, and Luna were already seated around the table.

Amy and I immediately greeted everyone before taking our seats.

I naturally sat beside Amy.

Since breakfast hadn’t been served yet, I quietly waited in silence.

The Empress smiled.

”So, how was your morning?”

Amy answered first.

”It was great.”

”I had the honor of waking up a certain sleepyhead.”

She glanced at me with a teasing grin.

I felt slightly embarrassed being called out in front of everyone.

The Empress chuckled before looking at me.

”And how was your morning, Gray?”

I scratched my cheek awkwardly.

”...I may have slept a little longer.”

”So Amy had to wake me up.”

Her smile widened.

”Oh?”

”So you’re admitting that you overslept?”

I nodded awkwardly.

”...Yes.”

The Empress laughed softly.

”That’s perfectly fine.”

”You must still be tired after traveling for two days.”

Then she looked at Amy and me.

”So, what are your plans for today?”

”If you’d like, I can have Elena and Luna show you around the Imperial Palace.”

”They can also explain everything you’ll need to know before tomorrow’s banquet.”

Amy and I exchanged a glance.

”That sounds great,” Amy replied.

I thought for a moment before asking,

”Wouldn’t that interrupt their training?”

Amy immediately added,

”Then how about we train together first?”

”They can show us around afterward.”

The Empress considered the suggestion.

Originally, she had planned to let her daughters take the day off from training.

But this seemed like an even better idea.

She looked toward Elena and Luna.

As for Isabella...

She would be assisting with imperial affairs today, so she didn’t have the time to accompany us.

Elena immediately nodded with a bright smile.

”That sounds great!”

Luna also gave a quiet nod, showing that she agreed.

”Very well.”

”It’s settled.”

Then the Empress looked toward me.

”Gray.”

”Yesterday, Seraphina mentioned that she hadn’t explained the details of the engagement to you.”

I blinked in confusion.

”The family friend she spoke about...”

She smiled gently.

”...was me.”

”And the person you’re engaged to...”

Her gaze shifted toward Luna.

”...is my youngest daughter.”

The moment those words reached me, my mind completely froze.

I remained motionless for several seconds as I tried to process what I had just heard.

Everyone at the table quietly watched my reaction.

Amy desperately tried to suppress her laughter.

Mom simply watched me calmly.

Astrid looked at me with obvious amusement.

Luna also froze for a brief moment.

She clearly hadn’t expected the Empress to bring it up so suddenly.

After taking a deep breath, I finally spoke.

”...I don’t have a problem with it.”

”But...”

”I do have one condition.”

The Empress’s interest was immediately piqued.

”Oh?”

”And what might that be?”

I carefully organized my thoughts before answering.

”If either of us falls in love with someone else in the future...”

”I’d like this engagement to be canceled.”

”I think pursuing another person while remaining engaged to someone else is disrespectful.”

”So...”

”That’s my only condition.”

The Empress raised an eyebrow.

”That’s all?”

I nodded.

”Yes.”

”That’s all.”

A warm smile appeared on Mom’s face.

Amy’s teasing expression disappeared as she nodded in approval.

Isabella quietly considered my words.

After a brief moment...

She gave a small nod.

The Empress also nodded in satisfaction before turning toward Luna.

”Luna.”

”You’ve heard Gray’s thoughts.”

”Now the choice is yours.”

”I won’t force you.”

”So think it over carefully.”

”You can give me your answer by the end of today or tomorrow morning.”

”If we’re going to officially announce the engagement during tomorrow’s banquet...”

”I’ll need your decision beforehand.”

Luna quietly nodded.

”...Understood.”

The Empress smiled gently.

”And regardless of whether the engagement is announced or not...”

”Don’t think too much about it.”

”For now...”

”Simply spend time together as friends.”

”When you’re older...”

”You can decide your future for yourselves.”

I nodded.

”I understand.”

Luna nodded as well.

With that, the conversation naturally came to an end.

A few moments later, breakfast was served, and everyone quietly began eating.
