After dinner, we chatted for a little while longer before saying our goodnights and returning to our rooms.

Today had been exhausting.

The moment I lay down on my bed, I fell asleep almost instantly.

The next morning, I woke up at my usual time.

After taking a shower and changing into my training clothes, I headed to the dining room.

As usual, nothing special happened during breakfast.

We ate together, Amy teased me a few times as always, and after saying goodbye to Mom, the two of us headed toward the training grounds.

Today...

I had something important to work on.

It was finally time to address one of my greatest weaknesses.

As soon as I spotted Astrid, I walked over to her.

”Astrid.”

”I’ve been thinking about what you told me yesterday.”

”I want to create my own movement art.”

Astrid nodded in satisfaction.

”I’m glad you’ve made up your mind.”

”But don’t rush it, little Gray.”

”A movement art isn’t like the spells you’ve created before.”

”It isn’t something you can complete with a single idea.”

”You’ll need to experiment.”

”You’ll have to understand how your body moves, find a natural flow, and shape the technique to match your own fighting style.”

”Only then will it truly become your own.”

I nodded.

Then we began training.

As usual, I took everything one step at a time.

I knew my abilities consumed a large amount of mana, so I wanted to refine them until their mana consumption became as low as possible.

I drew Eclipse and began sparring with Astrid while continuously using my skills.

At the same time, I relied on Dimensional Awareness to carefully observe how much mana each technique consumed.

Whenever I noticed one using too much mana, I adjusted it and tried a different approach.

Most of my ideas failed.

But a few actually worked.

With every successful adjustment, my confidence grew a little more.

Before I realized it, the afternoon had already passed.

Amy finished her own training and walked over.

After saying goodbye to Astrid, the two of us headed back home together.

As we walked, Amy kept pestering me.

”Gray.”

”Make something delicious for me.”

I rolled my eyes.

”I’m not your personal chef.”

But she refused to give up.

Instead, she became even more persistent.

Eventually, I let out a helpless sigh.

”Fine.”

”I’ll make something simple.”

After thinking for a moment, an idea came to mind.

”Candy-coated fruit.”

Amy’s eyes immediately lit up.

Without wasting any time, I handed her a bowl of grapes and strawberries.

”Wash them.”

”Remove the stems, then put them onto these wooden sticks.”

Amy looked at the fruit.

Then at me.

”...You’re making me work?”

”If you want to eat, you have to help.”

She puffed out her cheeks.

”That’s unfair.”

Even so, she reluctantly began preparing the fruit while I worked on the sugar coating.

Once everything was ready, I looked toward her.

”Done?”

Amy proudly nodded.

Together, we coated the fruit with the hot sugar before placing them into an ice bath to harden.

The glossy coating quickly became crisp.

Amy immediately reached for one.

Smack.

I lightly slapped her hand away.

”Not yet.”

She looked at me with an aggrieved expression.

”But I want to taste it.”

”After lunch.”

”If Mom finds out we skipped lunch because of snacks, she’ll definitely get angry.”

Amy gave me a reproachful look.

”...You’re no fun.”

Even so, she obediently nodded.

We put the candy-coated fruit aside and ate lunch first.

Afterward, I packed some for Mom and Astrid.

Knowing they were both busy, I asked one of the maids to deliver them instead of disturbing them myself.

The rest of the afternoon was spent playing with Amy.

We came up with all kinds of games, shared ideas with each other, and simply enjoyed spending time together.

The days gradually turned into weeks.

Every morning, I trained with Astrid.

Every afternoon, I spent time with Amy.

Every evening, the three of us gathered around the dinner table with Mom.

Before I knew it...

A month had passed.

Soon, my ninth birthday arrived.

Mom asked me how I wanted to celebrate it.

After thinking for a moment, I smiled.

”I don’t want a big party.”

”Let’s just have a small celebration with our family.”

Mom thought quietly for a moment before nodding.

”Very well.”

”But next year...”

”We’ll hold a proper celebration.”

”One that every noble family will attend.”

”Be prepared for it.”

The moment she said that...

I immediately remembered what she had told me before.

This was probably the party where I would finally meet my mysterious fiancée.

I simply nodded.

”Okay.”

The birthday celebration itself was small.

Just as I wanted.

Of course...

Amy couldn’t resist causing trouble.

Without warning, she shoved an entire slice of cake into my face.

For a brief moment, I froze.

Then a slow smile spread across my face.

”Oh...”

”So that’s how you want to play?”

Using Dimensional Awareness, I carefully aimed another slice of cake before throwing it.

Smack!

It landed perfectly on Amy’s face.

”...Gray!”

She immediately chased after me while I ran around the house laughing.

Mom and Astrid simply watched the two of us with helpless smiles as they quietly continued their conversation.

Life continued peacefully after that.

My training progressed steadily.

My swordsmanship became more refined.

My mana control improved.

And my spells became noticeably more efficient as I gradually reduced their mana consumption.

The months passed one after another.

Then...

One day, after countless failures and experiments, everything finally clicked.

I successfully combined Gravity Control, Space Control, and Dimensional Awareness into a single movement technique.

Every movement became purposeful.

Every step became smoother.

Every action flowed naturally into the next.

At that moment...

A familiar notification appeared before my eyes.

[Congratulations. You have created a new skill.]

[Void Step (F)]

A bright smile spread across my face.

Although I couldn’t fully utilize it yet, Dimensional Awareness allowed me to control it well enough for practical use.

Not long afterward, I finally perfected another technique.

A short-range teleportation spell.

Blink.

Astrid couldn’t hide her surprise.

”Your rate of improvement is unbelievable.”

Hearing those words only motivated me to train even harder.

Even so...

No matter how much I trained, I always stopped once Amy finished her own training.

The rest of the day belonged to my family.

We played games.

Talked about random things.

And simply enjoyed our peaceful lives together.

The seasons quietly changed.

Another few months slipped by.

Before I realized it...

I had turned ten years old.

And the grand celebration Mom had mentioned was finally only one week away.
