Several more hours passed.

Attempt after attempt.

Failure after failure.

But unlike before, I wasn’t simply repeating the same mistake.

Each attempt taught me something new.

Sometimes the sword materialized a meter away from where I intended.

Sometimes it emerged facing the wrong direction.

Once, it even appeared upside down and embedded itself halfway into the ground.

”...Well.”

I scratched my cheek awkwardly.

”At least it arrived.”

Astrid couldn’t help letting out a quiet laugh.

”That’s certainly one way to look at it.”

I pulled the wooden sword free and examined it carefully.

No damage.

Good.

I took a slow breath before trying again.

This time, instead of focusing solely on the destination, I paid attention to the entire process.

The sword wasn’t simply disappearing.

It was moving through space itself.

If my understanding of that movement was even slightly off...

The final position would also be off.

”I see...”

I murmured quietly.

”So that’s where I was making mistakes.”

I gathered Space Mana once more.

Unlike before, I didn’t rush.

Mana flowed steadily from my core, guided carefully through my Space Affinity.

I visualized the sword.

Its size.

Its weight.

Its exact orientation.

Then I fixed my eyes on a single spot several meters away.

That would be the destination.

Nothing more.

Nothing less.

Space rippled gently around the blade.

The distortion was far smoother than before.

The wooden sword slowly blurred...

Then—

It vanished.

A heartbeat later...

It appeared exactly where I had intended.

Not a centimeter off.

Perfect.

A wide grin spread across my face.

”...Success.”

I walked over and picked up the sword, unable to stop smiling.

”It finally worked.”

Astrid approached with an approving nod.

”Excellent.”

”This time your mana remained stable throughout the entire process.”

She folded her arms.

”And more importantly, you didn’t force Space to obey you.”

”You guided it.”

I nodded.

”Exactly.”

”The moment I stopped trying to overpower Space...”

”It became much easier.”

Astrid smiled faintly.

”That’s the difference between understanding and brute force.”

She looked toward the training field.

”Many people spend years trying to dominate their affinity.”

”But the truly talented learn how to work alongside it.”

I couldn’t help smiling proudly.

Maybe...

I really was starting to understand Space.

Not completely.

Not even close.

But I had taken another step forward.

And every step brought me closer to the abilities I wanted to create.

Blink.

Perception.

And everything beyond them.

I looked down at the wooden sword in my hand.

The distance I could teleport it was still short.

Only a few meters.

The mana cost was still high.

And if I tried anything much larger...

The spell immediately became unstable.

There was still a long road ahead.

But that didn’t bother me.

Not in the slightest.

Because every improvement made the possibilities feel even more exciting.

I turned toward Astrid with a bright smile.

”I think I’ve figured out the basics now.”

She raised an eyebrow.

”The basics?”

I nodded enthusiastically.

”Yeah.”

”And now...”

A mischievous grin slowly spread across my face.

”I want to try something else.”

Astrid’s expression immediately became suspicious.

”...Why do I suddenly have a bad feeling about this?”

I smiled innocently.

”Don’t worry.”

”It’s nothing dangerous.”

Astrid looked at me for a long moment.

Then she sighed.

”Those are usually the exact words people say before doing something dangerous.”

”I promise.”

”I’m not planning to teleport myself.”

That seemed to ease her concerns a little.

”A wise decision.”

She folded her arms.

”Your mother would never forgive me if you accidentally scattered yourself across the training grounds.”

I immediately imagined it.

”...Yeah.”

”Let’s not test that.”

Astrid nodded in satisfaction.

”So...”

”What exactly are you planning?”

I held up the wooden sword.

”I don’t just want to teleport objects.”

”I want to teleport them while they’re moving.”

Astrid blinked.

”...Moving?”

I nodded.

”If I can only teleport objects that are standing still, this spell won’t be very useful in combat.”

”I need to learn how to teleport something while it’s already in motion.”

I gently tossed the wooden sword into the air.

It rose a short distance before falling back into my hand.

”Eventually...”

”I want to teleport thrown weapons.”

”Arrows.”

”Spears.”

”Even swords.”

Astrid’s expression gradually became more serious.

”I see...”

”That would certainly be useful.”

”But it’ll also be much more difficult.”

I nodded.

”I know.”

”The timing has to be perfect.”

”If I mistime it by even a fraction...”

”The object could appear somewhere completely different.”

Astrid smiled faintly.

”I’m glad you understand that.”

She looked directly into my eyes.

”But don’t rush.”

”Master stationary teleportation first.”

”Only then should you move on to moving targets.”

I thought about it for a moment before nodding.

”...You’re right.”

”I’ve only just learned the basics.”

”If I become impatient now, I’ll probably make my control worse instead of better.”

Astrid’s smile widened ever so slightly.

”Exactly.”

”Solid foundations.”

”They’re boring.”

”But they’re what separate true masters from reckless fools.”

I couldn’t help laughing.

”I guess I got carried away.”

”You always do.”

”...That’s true.”

She chuckled softly before looking toward the sky.

”The sun’s already beginning to set.”

”We’ve trained enough for today.”

Only then did I realize how much time had passed.

My body wasn’t particularly tired thanks to Body Reinforcement, but my mind felt mentally drained.

Repeatedly manipulating Space Affinity required incredible concentration.

I stretched my arms above my head.

”Haa...”

”I didn’t even notice how much time had passed.”

Astrid nodded knowingly.

”When you’re completely focused on learning something...”

”Time tends to disappear.”

I smiled.

”I actually enjoyed today.”

”I think Space Affinity might become my favorite.”

Astrid wasn’t surprised.

”I expected as much.”

”You’ve always enjoyed creating new things.”

”And Space gives you endless possibilities.”

I looked down at my hands.

She was right.

The more I learned...

The more ideas appeared.

Every new skill led to three more possibilities.

It felt less like learning magic...

And more like opening doors to an endless world waiting to be explored.

A smile naturally appeared on my face.

”I can’t wait to continue tomorrow.”

Astrid shook her head with a helpless smile.

”I thought you said you weren’t a training addict.”

I coughed awkwardly.

”I-I’m still not.”

”Mhm.”

She clearly didn’t believe me.

Just then, Amy finished her own training and walked over while wiping the sweat from her forehead.

”You two still talking?”

Astrid nodded.

”Gray’s already planning tomorrow’s training.”

Amy burst into laughter.

”I knew it!”

She pointed at me dramatically.

”And he says he isn’t addicted to training.”

I immediately protested.

”I’m not addicted!”

”I just...”

”...have a lot of ideas.”

Amy smirked.

”That’s exactly what a training addict would say.”

I opened my mouth to argue...

Then closed it again.

Somehow...

I couldn’t think of a convincing response.

Seeing my defeated expression, both Amy and Astrid laughed.

I could only pout.

”...You two are bullying me.”

Amy wrapped an arm around my shoulders with a grin.

”Come on.”

”Let’s head home.”

”We’ve earned dinner.”

I looked at the setting sun and smiled.

”Yeah.”

Tomorrow...

I would continue exploring the mysteries of Space Affinity.

And little by little...

I would turn every idea in my imagination into reality.
