Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 253: Chapter 158: Calamity (Part 2)

Even though he had been trapped by the corrupted Awakened just now, he was still aware of the situation on the other side.

In his view, Chu Xiu’s actions were purely opportunistic. Now that he has escaped, he naturally wouldn’t give away a massive benefit for nothing.

He wasn’t afraid of Chu Xiu turning against him.

Although Chu Xiu’s Ghostly Legion was astonishing, the Summoning Profession was more suited for large-scale legion warfare and posed no threat to powerful individuals like him.

As a Summoning Profession, having a relatively weak main body was almost a hard rule.

As a [Martial Artist (A)] with strong individual combat abilities, the old man was confident that if Chu Xiu attacked, he could easily bypass the Ghostly Legion and directly target Chu Xiu’s main body at the first opportunity!

This absolute confidence came from decades of honing his battle skills.

As for worrying that Chu Xiu might grow and retaliate in the future, that was unfounded fear. Not to mention that the fall of geniuses in the Abyss was all too common; even if the other side did become stronger in the future, he could just apologize and offer compensation then.

So the old man showed no signs of backing down.

Seeing the situation become tense, Su Jinyu, who hadn’t spoken, hurriedly stepped between the two, waving his hands repeatedly, ”Wait a minute! We can talk about repayment later. There are more important matters at hand now!”

”Raven, quickly show Chen the reconnaissance footage you have!”

Su Jinyu’s anxious voice drew Chu Xiu’s gaze back from the old man. The latter then hummed in satisfaction, a slight victor’s smile on his lips, while Liu Feng sighed in relief and relaxed.

Chu Xiu no longer paid attention to the two but looked at Raven, who was tracing circles in midair with his hands. As the ancient spell resonated, a scene appeared on the ground beneath their feet.

The scene seemed to be from the perspective of a spirit raven under his command, flying over an expansive space filled with jagged gray-black rocks. Chu Xiu quickly recognized it as the massive pit!

As the scene shifted, Chu Xiu saw something that left him utterly shocked, gasping softly.

In the enormous pit, all the underground humans had awakened, as if following some command, gathering en masse at the pit’s top, frantically excavating the surrounding rocks!

Rocks fell like raindrops, with rumblings all around, but the terror did not end there. From the pit’s bottom, a multitude of well-trained corrupted soldiers, previously seen by Chu Xiu, crawled up in numerous numbers, impossible to count. Just the powerful fusion mecha alone numbered nearly a hundred!

There were even corrupted soldiers fused with tanks and even aircraft!

What shocked Chu Xiu the most was a gigantic engineering machinery weighing thousands of tons and towering several tens of meters high!

This was a tunneling shield machine. Regular tunnel-excavating shield machines were already enormous, but the one before his eyes, seemingly a special military-customized device, was even larger, like a small building laid on its side.

Hundreds of corrupted creatures above Warrior Tier fused with it, enabling the massive machinery to cling to the pit’s edge with countless tentacles! The huge cutting blade at its top rotated swiftly, grinding against the hard rock with a screeching sound, shattering thousands of pounds of rock every second!

”What are they doing?”

A look of shock flickered across Chu Xiu’s eyes.

Su Jinyu solemnly said, ”Under a certain will’s guidance, they’re destroying the mountain body.”

”If my guess is correct, the presence at the bottom of the pit intends to forcefully excavate the entire mountain body, completely freeing itself!”

Su Jinyu’s words left Chu Xiu astounded.

Excavate the entire mountain body?

Chu Xiu glanced at the pit’s location, a giant peak nearly two thousand meters high. Before such a behemoth, even human technology seemed insignificant. Ordinary excavation machines, let alone trying to destroy it completely with nuclear bombs in a short time, would struggle!

However, considering the terrifying number of underground residents and their uncanny talent, Chu Xiu felt this might not be impossible.

”Once that terrifying entity is freed, its power will be completely unrestrained. Its subterranean minions will reproduce at a terrifying speed, potentially evolving into a world-ending calamity!”

”Is it really that exaggerated?” Chu Xiu secretly gulped.

”Yes!” Su Jinyu nodded very seriously, ”In decades of human exploration, there are plenty of similar examples.”

”For instance, the world of ’Night Phantom’ No. 571. The first batch of Trial Takers successfully passed the trial and established a base and complete communication chain in the next five years, attracting a large number of High Tier Awakened to join, including five King Tiers! It can be said they firmly gained a foothold.”

”But due to an Awakened team accidentally releasing an ancient presence during exploration, mass calamity quickly formed, ultimately destroying the base and causing the world to sink back into the Abyss!”

”This meant all the [Anchor Points] failed, and humanity completely lost this world.”

”There are many more similar cases, like the ’Insect Tide Invasion’ world, the ’Mechanical Uprising’ world, the ’Ice Cold Monarch’ world, and so on, all lost from Huaxia’s control for this reason.”
