Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 243: Chapter 155: Corrupted Awakened

”Corrupted Awakener?”

The panel revealed by the Nether Demon Eyes made Chu Xiu slightly pause.

Awakened ones can also be corrupted?

Moreover, it’s an extremely powerful General Tier Awakener!

Is it because of that so-called [Pollution]? Or some other power?

A look of gravity appeared on Chu Xiu’s face as he carefully scrutinized the figure before him.

His physique was not much different from an ordinary human, but his skin was as dark as iron covered in copper rust, with no hair whatsoever, replaced by long, thin, resilient mycelium similar to subterranean humans, dressed in a dark green armor, with a narrow samurai sword attached to his waist.

His pupils were also a mesmerizing dark green, noticeably more intelligent and cunning compared to those beast-like subterranean residents, resembling humans more closely, yet with the madness and bloodthirstiness unchanged in the slightest.

Just as Chu Xiu was observing him, that corrupted Awakener suddenly revealed a joyful smile.

”Finally, I’ve been waiting for you!”

With this eagerly anticipated shout, the Awakener’s figure abruptly vanished from where he stood, appearing beside Chu Xiu in less than 0.1 seconds!

In the next moment, a sharp blade’s gleam blossomed in the cave, and Chu Xiu, shocked, could only shrink back slightly, but his chest was already struck by the blade!

The sharp blade instantly shattered the breastplate of the Skeleton Armor, leaving a slender wound on Chu Xiu’s chest!

Even more astonishing, the flesh around the wound began to rot at a speed visible to the naked eye, and Chu Xiu could feel a potent toxin infiltrating his blood, spreading towards his heart!

”Such a fast blade!”

Chu Xiu’s face darkened, the powerful essence within the Golden Embryo surged out instantly, dispelling the toxin and starting to repair the wound on his chest.

He glanced at the collapsed passage, from which continuous ”rumbling” sounds emanated, indicating a large number of corrupted humans were rushing over!

Unwilling to tangle with this corrupted Awakener here, Chu Xiu grabbed Rasputin beside him, kicked backward with both feet, and rapidly retreated.

But the corrupted Awakener merely grinned: ”Trying to run?”

In the next moment, his figure bizarrely disappeared once again from his spot, and Chu Xiu could only perceive an afterimage rapidly approaching him. In the blink of an eye, the Awakener had already caught up!

”Clang!!!”

This time, with preparations made, Chu Xiu promptly summoned the Frenzied Celestial Demon Hand to guard in front of him, and the blade in the corrupted Awakener’s hand slashed deeply into the Celestial Demon Hand, whose originally magma-like boiling hot blood immediately dimmed. Corrupted dark green spots spread from the wounded area, quickly expanding to the size of a washbasin!

This made Chu Xiu’s face turn extremely grim.

But it wasn’t over yet. The Awakener raised his hand, a metal sphere exploded violently in front of Chu Xiu, splashing large amounts of acid onto the Frenzied Celestial Demon Hand, causing its defense to rapidly decrease under the acid’s corrosion!

At the same time, the mycelium on the Awakener’s body suddenly burst forth, intertwining to form dozens of tentacles, wildly striking towards Chu Xiu!

With a cruel smile on his face, each attack of these tentacles could shatter a piece of the Celestial Demon Hand’s Magma Armor under the acid’s assistance. In just the blink of an eye, the Frenzied Celestial Demon Hand, which was shielding Chu Xiu, was battered to a dire state!

This scene made Chu Xiu’s expression increasingly grave!

This is the troublesome aspect of Awakeners. A vast array of exclusive skills and artifacts complement each other, making their strength significantly superior to monsters of the same tier!

Especially like the Awakener before him, who had already formed his own combat system, with various skills complementing each other to achieve an effect greater than the sum of their parts!

His basic attributes could be comparable to the Two-winged Fallen Blood Angels, but his strength was far superior! The bizarre body technique combined with extremely powerful single-target attack skills were enough to give even Chu Xiu a headache!

Moreover...

”Is this the power of corruption?”

From the previous encounter, Chu Xiu could tell that the Awakener’s profession should be the common Combat Profession [Samurai (B)].

The Samurai profession is known for its agile body technique and powerful single-target attack abilities. The signature skills are [Iaijutsu (Superior)] and [Shadowless Step (Advanced)], which can be unlocked at the Mortal Tier but initially are at the [Foundation] tier and will continuously upgrade with the tier, until unlocking the Secret Skill at the King Tier.

But the Awakener before him had both skills mutated to varying degrees!

The Iaijutsu and Shadowless Step were now imbued with a peculiar mental interference, making his attack and movement trajectory even harder to detect, and upon hitting, causing corruption attacks that even Chu Xiu’s skin couldn’t withstand!

It’s crucial to know that Chu Xiu had already trained the Golden Flesh and Nether Bone to the Fourth Layer, yet a large amount of his flesh still rotted. Ordinary Awakeners, even at the General Tier, if they lacked skills to counter, would probably have chunks of flesh corroded at a mere touch!

”Additionally, the basic attributes have been significantly enhanced, with those mycelium tentacles both capable of attacking and aiding movement.”

”And the equipment on his body also underwent [Corrupted Mutation]. The strange toxin that infiltrated my blood earlier should be a new effect added after the long sword was [Corrupted].”

”What a hassle.”

Chu Xiu clicked his tongue lightly and continued to flee down the path he came from.
