Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1599: Section 1600 Philosopher Scholar

After deciding on a plan, Greya immediately began the treatment for Kavoline, focusing first on stabilizing her condition.

Greya went into the inner room to treat Kavoline, so the others could only stay in the courtyard, looking at each other in dismay.

There were only a few people in the courtyard, yet they tacitly formed several small groups.

Allen and Sinistra made up one group, and Sharley, on her own, formed another.

These two groups exchanged cold glances, holding silent confrontations, as they had previous grudges. However, due to Angelʼs presence, no real fight broke out.

As for Lyon and Shan, they could be considered a group as well, but they sat on the side as if they were there just to watch the drama unfold.

Angel rubbed his temples, deciding to put an end to the strange atmosphere in the courtyard. He looked at Sharley: “I remember you mentioned that you had a fight with Asaz before. Why donʼt you tell us the details of that encounter?”

Actually, Sharley had previously described her match, but she highlighted that her defeat was all “mistakes,” and there was little correlation with Asazʼs strength. Therefore, she barely elaborated on the specifics of Asazʼs performance during the match.

Angel was also curious about what Asaz was really like. Besides, the atmosphere in the courtyard was too tense, which prompted his question.

Recalling the match, Sharley slowly said, “Actually, I didnʼt think Asaz was that strong…”

“…Although I was also defeated by those strange Ghostly Shadows, I didnʼt lose my memory during the match, unlike what happened with Kavoline. Asaz never caused others to lose their memory in previous matches, so I presume…” Sharley sneered, “Itʼs probably something to do with Kavoline herself. As everyone knows, Kavoline is haughty and arrogant. Maybe she offended Asaz with her attitude, leading to her current predicament. It seems self-inflicted.”

No sooner had she finished speaking than Sinistra glared at Sharley: “You really know how to spin a tale. Kavoline and I have always been together, and weʼve never met Asaz. Donʼt make things up out of thin air.”

Sharley shrugged, responding provocatively: “Who knows, considering your reputation isnʼt so great either. Maybe itʼs someone youʼve offended in the past.”

Sharleyʼs sarcasm was something Sinistra couldnʼt just let slide, and she retorted without hesitation.

For a moment, the two of them went back and forth.

Just when it seemed their verbal altercation might escalate into a physical one, the inner Door was pushed open, and Greya walked out.

Sinistra immediately stopped the bickering and approached Greya to inquire about the situation.

Greya: “For now, Iʼve halted her progression towards turning into living food ingredients. You can go in and see for yourselves. However, Iʼve arranged some Spell Technique Barriers with delicacies around her, so you shouldnʼt touch her for the time being.”

Sinistra nodded and was the first to enter the inner room.

Allen paused for a second, then asked, “If we canʼt touch Kavoline, does that mean… she needs to stay in Fangling Hall for the time being?”

Greya nodded: “Yes, sheʼll stay for a day or two at most.”

A look of resignation crossed Allenʼs eyes. It was not an issue of time; this place belonged to someone else, and even if they really had to stay, they would need to notify the actual occupants. Allen sighed and turned his eyes to Shan and Lyon, stepping forward silently: “I…”

Shan interrupted Allen: “I know what you want to say. Staying for a day or two is no problem, but according to our agreement, as long as you stay here, you are in charge of preparing all three meals every day for us.”

Shan was calculating shrewdly; the food made by an Apprentice in the culinary arts was not something one could buy outside. Moreover, these magical meals were also beneficial for Wizardsʼ health. The price of just providing them lodging space was a bargain.

Allen had no room to refuse, for Kavoline was inevitably staying here, and Shanʼs request was not too excessive. After all, Allen himself had been responsible for the meals when he was with Kavoline and the others. Now it just meant a few more mouths to feed, he thought, nodding his head: “Okay.”

With that matter temporarily settled, Angel checked the time and saw that the afternoon competition was about to start.

After bidding farewell to Lyon and the others, he and Greya left Fangling Hall, with Sharley, naturally, following along with Greya.

On the way to the Infinite Battle Tower, Angel asked, “Do you really have no clue about Asazʼs situation?”

Greya narrowed her eyes, a shadow seeming to lurk within them: “I have some guesses. If nothing unexpected occurs, it should be an ʼinterestingʼ individual, but it still requires specific confirmation.”

No matter how Angel pressed on, Greya refused to divulge more, and he had no choice but to let it go.

ʼPhilosopher Scholar vs Philosopherʼ

This was the last match of the top eight, determining who would have the qualifications to enter the semi-finals. Moreover, both competitors in this match were tremendously powerful, with the long-famed “Philosopher Scholar” Suyatutai and the rising dark horse “Philosopher” Onassis. Because of this, the match was highly popular.

By the time Angel and the others arrived at the Infinite Battle Tower, all the tickets had been sold out.

However, thanks to his privileges as a special judge, Angel still managed to get a few tickets with excellent viewing positions.

This time, he didnʼt plan to act as a judge, so he took a seat in the stands with the audience. The match hadnʼt even started yet, but the fiery atmosphere it had whipped up was already palpable.

This atmosphere was the most intense Angel had ever experienced, even more so than the competition in the Boundless Battle Arena he had attended in the past.

“Young people are so passionate; their roaring voices are shaking the heavens. It makes me really want to… take care of them,” Greya said with a smile, but the more she spoke, the more chilling her smile became.

At this moment, Sharley suddenly said, “The fervor for this match might be related to a certain rumor.”

Angel and Greya turned their gaze to Sharley, waiting for her to explain.

Under the scrutiny of the two Wizards, Sharley didnʼt dare to keep them in suspense and spoke directly: “This rumor is actually about events that have unfolded over the past two years. The Philosopher Scholar of this match, even though he comes from Song of the Deep Sea, he had in fact defected to the Song of the Deep Sea not long ago.”

Angel was taken aback: “I seem to recall this incident. After the affairs at the Purification Garden, Suyatutai defected from Uto Academy to the Song of the Deep Sea. However, the rumors donʼt specify why he defected.”

Sharley said, “Iʼve heard some insider information. It is said that Suyatutai was originally a spy sent by the Song of Deep Sea to Uto Academy. Sir, youʼve also been to the Purification Garden and should know that it transformed into a Sea of Purification. While in that sea, Suyatutai exposed the fish scale Pattern tattoo on his body, and thatʼs the reason for his defection.”

“However, the reason for defection isnʼt the focus today. The important part is Suyatutaiʼs opponent, the ʼPhilosopherʼ Onassis, he is also from Uto Academy.”

One was once a prodigy of Uto Academy, the other is a rapidly rising dark horse currently at Uto Academy. Their encounter, even if Onassis and Suyatutai have no personal association, creates a huge momentum in public opinion.

Transcendents generally love to watch the excitement and donʼt mind things getting big. Contests with love and hate, right and wrong, are exactly the kind of drama they enjoy watching.

This match fits right into that characteristic.

Such fervor is, after all, understandable.
