Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1456: Section 1457: The Uncertainty of Fate Chapter 1456: Section 1457: The Uncertainty of Fate Sanders and Angel walked forward, with the apprentices clearing a path for them along the way.

When Angel arrived at the entrance of the ice cave, his brows slightly twitched.

The other apprentices were gathered around the entrance of the ice cave, but no one dared to enter, with the main reason being not the fear of angering Greya and Felicia but—

An extremely pure energy aura was continuously surging and permeating through the passage ahead.

This energy was terrifyingly intense—apprentices who entered could easily be injured, and on the pure white floor of the ice cave, one could already see drops of crimson blood, evidence that some apprentices who ventured in had suffered serious injuries.

Having witnessed the consequences, the apprentices naturally didn’t dare to enter rashly.

Sanders also noticed the unceasing dispersion of energy but did not hesitate at all and directly stepped in; Angel followed closely behind.

Although the energy was surgeing, for Angel, before he became an Official Wizard, he had been able to deal with it easily with just the strength of his body, let alone now that he had already become an Official Wizard, able to easily find the leverage point of the energy and push it aside, without harm to himself.

Sanders continued to walk forward, while Angel followed, sensing the pure energy around him.

Although this energy could harm the human body, upon closer perception, Angel discovered that it contained a very high concentration of light properties, seemingly capable of purifying all the filth and darkness in the world.

Angel remembered that he had once heard that Greya and Felicia came to Black Castle not just to assist with its transformation, but their seclusion in the ice cave was actually for researching a kind of ‘Feast’ that could completely eradicate the aura of the undead from Black Castle.

If this ‘Feast’ referred to the energy pervading the passageway, Angel felt it indeed might be possible.

While Angel was pondering this, they had delved deep into the ice cave.

The temperature of the ice cave was extremely cold, and the deeper they walked into the pure white passage, the more they could feel the temperature dropping sharply. Further inside, the path was filled with a dense frosty white mist, and the walls were already coated with ice.

Sanders suddenly stopped, Angel looked ahead curiously and discovered that there was a forked path in front of them.

Sanders closed his eyes to perceive, seemingly determining which path to take.

Soon, Sanders opened his eyes and walked down the road on the left. Seeing Sanders’s choice, Angel’s expression became slightly peculiar. Coincidentally, when Angel and Shadow had encountered this forked path, they too had chosen the left path.

Walking this path again brought a subtle feeling to Angel’s heart. He had a premonition that the place where Greya and Felicia were concocting the ‘Feast’ might just be where he and Shadow had once rested.

He thought this because the spot where they had rested was outside the storage room for Demonic Materials.

Since Greya and Felicia were helping Black Castle to research a method to remove the aura of the undead, it was unlikely they would use their own materials; they probably were using the materials already stored in the ice cave. Thereby, the chances of choosing that location were significantly higher.

And as expected, when Angel and Sanders reached deep into the corridor, Angel vaguely saw the area where he and Shadow had once rested—a space noticeably more spacious than its surroundings—now had several figures standing in it.

Moreover, after arriving here, the concentration of the pure energy had grown to its utmost intensity.

If ordinary apprentices reached this spot, it would be beyond mere injury; they would likely face fatal harm.

The density of the energy was too great, absolutely pervasive; even ordinary Official Wizards would need to perform some calculations to find the energy’s leverage point in order to continue advancing.

However, Sanders and Angel were clearly not ordinary Official Wizards.

Sanders did not pause at any point in the journey, and the surrounding energy did not intrude upon him at all. Angel was the same; although Angel’s calculations were not exceptionally accurate and he did make mistakes at times, his robust physique was unaffected by the energy.

When they arrived at the open space… or rather, the small square, the first thing Angel saw was a strange, fog-swirled, luminous sphere.

This sphere was approximately human-sized, flickering with an unstable radiance; the diffused energy in the ice cave was all escaping from this orb.

Near the sphere, Angel finally saw Greya and Felicia, whom he hadn’t seen for a long time.

Greya stood under the orb, the fluctuating light casting sharply defined angles on her face, exuding an air of heroism, despite the body she was occupying being that of a very tender and lovely girl.

Felicia stood not far behind Greya, dressed in a dark, long dress with a subtle purple flare at the hem and fine, sand-like specks of light twinkling on it, like the flickering stars of a serene night.

Felicia had a calm expression, with two different colored butterflies fluttering around her, giving her an aloof aura akin to a lofty and unapproachable flower.

On the opposite side of Greya and Felicia were Isabella and Lady Kimberly.

When Angel and Sanders reached the square, everyone turned to look at them, with the majority of gazes focusing on Angel.

Angel’s promotion had already been communicated to Greya by Sanders through a message.

Even with mental preparation, Greya and Felicia were still shocked when they saw Angel. Greya had made early investments in Angel and had always been optimistic about his potential, so she was fairly accepting of Angel’s promotion.

However, Felicia felt differently. Her understanding of Angel was only superficial, and though she recognized his Alchemy skills, she had never fully appreciated the depth of his potential.

Now, knowing that Angel had been promoted, and especially when Felicia felt an intense sense of threat from him, she found it absurd.

The idea of Angel not only being promoted but also achieving a level that could threaten her so soon after his promotion was like a nonsensical play written by a drunken playwright.

Yet, this absurd play had indeed unfolded right before Felicia’s eyes.

Kimberly and Isabella also turned their attention to Angel, with Kimberly showing admiration and Isabella taking a quick glance before quietly stepping back a few paces.

Kimberly gave a light smile to Greya and Felicia, “As for this ‘Feast,’ we’ve learned nearly all we need to know, and since Sanders is here, we’ll leave the rest to you.”

Greya nodded at Kimberly.

“Regardless of the outcome of the Feast, whether successful or not, thank you both for your support of Black Castle,” said Kimberly, and then, she and Isabella turned to leave.

As they passed Angel, Kimberly nodded slightly, “Congratulations once again, being able to stabilize the Magic Vortex so quickly. I am not your match.”

Angel responded with a smile.

Kimberly winked at Angel, “Don’t forget, our Alchemy exchange isn’t over yet. I’ve been waiting with great anticipation.”

After saying her piece, Kimberly left with Isabella. Isabella hadn’t spoken a word from beginning to end; the changes in Corpse Forest had left her severely injured and with greatly diminished power. Facing Angel, she no longer had the confidence, and it was better to leave than to risk a conflict with words.

Once Kimberly and Isabella had left, Angel and Sanders approached.

Greya examined Angel from top to bottom, then finally let out a deep sigh, “Your rate of growth has truly surprised me.”

Angel replied, “Sometimes I feel like fate is pushing me forward, and I’m just a small boat drifting along the current. Even I am surprised by what happens in the next second.”

Greya nodded, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, “Indeed, the fickleness of fate always catches people off guard. I never thought that upon returning, I’d hear such shocking news. That’s why experiences in reality often surpass the drama of stage actors.”

After a pause, Greya chuckled, “By the way, I remember you didn’t used to believe in fate.”

“I still don’t,” said Angel, raising an eyebrow.

After a moment, an ice-made table appeared in the small square, with the misty orb of light sitting perfectly above it, while on either side of the table stood two Wizards from Candy House and Illusion Demon Island.

“Now that Angel has been promoted as well, the Illusion Demon’s eye for choosing students is, tsk, simply ruthless. Maybe I should ask the Illusion Demon to oversee the next time I take on an Apprentice?” Greya said with playful banter.

But Sanders, faced with Greya’s jest, remained expressionless and did not respond.

“Sigh, same old, same old,” Greya turned to Angel and muttered softly, “Don’t you start acting like your Mentor.”

Angel just smiled and didn’t bite at the comment.

Greya inwardly cursed and mused to herself: These two, master and Apprentice, are indeed cut from the same cloth.

“By the way, although I’d heard of your promotion before, why did you choose this time at Black Castle to advance?” Greya asked, curious.

Angel didn’t shy away and briefly explained the events that had occurred.

After listening, Greya and Felicia frowned, not expecting that there was a mysterious figure involved—Frost.

A being potentially beyond Legend in strength!

Greya intended to continue discussing this topic but halted because of Frost’s involvement. It wasn’t the right time to discuss a Wizard who might be above Legend while he was in Black Castle.

Putting Frost aside, Greya felt happy about Angel’s promotion. After all, from the moment Angel stepped into the role of an Official Wizard, and Toby chose to leave with Angel, Greya had formed a deep bond with him.

This bond was also Greya’s investment in Angel, so of course, she wouldn’t hope for his downfall.

Greya asked for more details about the promotion and finally understood why Angel had earlier spoken of “fate,” as it truly seemed like a whimsical twist of destiny.

Greya sighed with admiration and eventually steered the conversation away from Angel’s promotion to return to the main topic.
