Chapter 1750: Chapter 598: Displaying Superiority Before Others, Return Journey (Part 2)

This is her future able general, an important talent personally entrusted by Tang Song, and naturally she wants to bring them under her wing as soon as possible.

”I might have to... in a while.”

Zhang Yan bit her lip with some difficulty, as she was currently stuck in the resignation process with Bai Rui and couldn’t leave anytime soon.

Wen Ruan immediately noticed something was wrong and asked directly, ”What’s the matter? Are you in trouble?”

”It’s just... a small handover issue at work. I’ll resolve it as soon as possible.” Zhang Yan stammered, not wanting to trouble the other party with her bothersome matters.

After years in the workplace, Wen Ruan had seen countless messy affairs.

Seeing Zhang Yan’s expression, after a bit of thought, she guessed seven or eight tenths of it.

Her eyes flashed slightly, and she said calmly, ”Alright then, remember to tell me at any time if there’s anything, don’t bear it all alone.”

Then, she turned slightly and pointed to Wang Dandan, who had been standing quietly beside her, and introduced, ”By the way, this is my assistant, Wang Dandan.”

”Ms. Zhang Yan, hello.” Wang Dandan nodded with a smile.

”Hello, Assistant Wang.” Zhang Yan quickly responded.

”That’s it for now, we’re leaving. Bye, take care of yourself.”

”Bye.”

The elevator doors slowly closed.

They walked out of the hospital entrance and got into a Toyota Alphard that had been waiting for a long time.

As the car door closed, the smile on Wen Ruan’s face quietly faded away.

She leaned back into the comfortable airline seat, appearing relaxed, yet her eyes were exceptionally clear.

”Dandan, tomorrow at ten in the morning, you and President Wang Chongxian from the Yan City branch, go to Shu Cheng Technology. Just say that I sent you, to represent the group in expressing our regards to a long-term collaborating agent, and discuss future collaboration matters.”

She paused, lightly tapping her fingertips on her knee, ”Additionally, Zhang Yan’s position is temporarily set as the Senior Content Cooperation Manager for the Content Ecosystem Cooperation Department, P6 level, mainly responsible for evaluating partner content.

Oh, and also have President Wang get to know his future new colleague, Zhang Yan, in advance.”

”Got it, Chairman Wen!” Wang Dandan nodded immediately, noting the information in the memo.

The black Alphard started up silently, merging into the evening traffic of the city.

As she watched the neon scenes outside the window flash by quickly, she couldn’t help but curve her lips into a sly yet proud smile.

I have to say, I finally get the thrill Chairman Jin and Su Yu had back then, planning and strategizing.

Yes, indeed... it’s a bit addictive.

...

November 8, 2023, Wednesday, Beginning of Winter.

6:50 a.m.

Sunlight broke free from the clouds, shining through the gaps in the curtains, casting a long and warm strip of light in the room.

With the sound of the alarm clock, Zhang Yan slowly opened her hazy eyes.

She followed her usual routine: going to the bathroom, washing up.

When the cold water brushed against her cheeks, she finally became fully awake.

Returning to the bedroom, she sat on the edge of the bed.

After hesitating for a moment, she still picked up her phone and opened the pinned chat box.

Her fingers hovered over the screen for a long time, before cautiously typing a line: ”Is it today’s flight? When are you leaving?”

”Buzz buzz buzz——”

[Tang Song: ”Yes, it’s ten o’clock this morning.”]

Upon seeing the message, Zhang Yan’s mood inevitably sank, like a stone dropped into a deep well.

Replying with a few concerned words, Zhang Yan knelt and buried her face into the soft fur of the orange cat.

Gently rubbing its head, her eyes dimmed.

Even though she was mentally prepared, now that he was really about to leave, it was still somewhat distressing.

Perhaps she was afraid that once he returned to Yan City, to that world of his.

Their faint connection might become fragile as well.

Just then.

”Knock knock knock——” A knocking sound suddenly occurred.

Zhang Yan was startled, who would come knocking at this time?

She quickly walked to the door and looked outside through the peephole.

Her almond eyes widened abruptly, and her heart seemed to skip a beat.

With a ”click”, she fumbled to open the lock and forcefully pulled open the old security door.

”Tang, Tang Song, how did you...”

Outside the door stood Tang Song, dressed in a casual suit, looking at her with a gentle smile.

”Today is the Beginning of Winter.” He raised the bag in his hand, his voice warm as jade, ”Let’s have a delicious meal of dumplings together.”

Inside the bag, frozen dumplings were neatly stacked.

Zhang Yan’s mind buzzed, and all her worries and disappointments were instantly washed away by a wave of immense surprise and emotion.

”Oh, oh, okay...” she mumbled in response, stepping aside to let him enter.

”Good morning, Orange.” Tang Song waved at the curious tabby cat.

Zhang Yan took the bag from his hand, their fingers touched, and her face blushed slightly, ”I’ll go cook the dumplings.”

With that, she quickly walked into the kitchen.

Soon, Tang Song followed her in, leaning against a spot near the door.

He watched her with a smile, without saying a word.

Under his focused gaze, Zhang Yan felt her face burning and her heartbeat rapidly accelerating, almost out of control.

Even the usual, most familiar actions of boiling water and lighting the fire became slow and clumsy.

After setting the water to boil, she suddenly realized that she was still wearing a loose, old pajama, with her hair a mess from just waking up.

She said awkwardly, ”I-I’ll go change clothes.”

Then, she hurried past Tang Song as if escaping, closing the bedroom door with a ”bang”.
