Chapter 1716: Chapter 590: Embrace, Bad News (Part 3)

Tang Song flipped through the manga, occasionally commenting on the plot inside, sharing his childhood love for characters like Master Roshi, Lin, Tien Shinhan, and others.

The two were close enough that he could clearly breathe in the pure and warm scent from her that was a mix of soap and sunlight.

It smelled really good.

The wind blew through the open window, causing several strands of soft hair to flutter, gently brushing against Tang Song’s nose, tickling him.

Zhang Yan quickly reached out her fingers and tucked those few strands behind her ear.

Her delicate side profile and slightly flushed, small earlobes were completely exposed in front of him.

Noticing Tang Song’s gaze, her cheeks instantly turned red, and she let her hair down again, seemingly finding it inappropriate, then pinned it back once more.

Seeing Tang Song still looking at her ears, she shyly let them down again.

Feeling somewhat conflicted herself, she whispered, ”I’m sorry.”

Tang Song chuckled softly, looking at her, saying, ”I just noticed, you actually have pierced ears.”

”I...” Zhang Yan blushed and said softly, ”I got them pierced when I graduated high school.”

To ”coincidentally” meet Tang Song in college and make herself more ”impressive,” she had actually prepared a lot.

Not only buying clothes and skincare products, but she also specially did her hair, pierced her ears, and bought some accessories.

Her collarbone-length hair, too, was something she started keeping at that time and has continued until now.

Tang Song said, ”Your ears are beautiful, perfect for earrings.”

Zhang Yan instinctively touched her burning ears.

”Alright, let’s continue reading.”

”Mm.”

The balcony became quiet again.

The third volume was finished.

Tang Song gently closed the book, smiling, ”Alright, time to work, let’s try to finish early.”

Zhang Yan obediently nodded, shyly stood up, and followed Tang Song into the bathroom step by step.

The newly painted bathroom became much cleaner and brighter.

Zhang Yan looked around, involuntarily exhaling a breath, her eyes curved in a smile.

Tang Song, while preparing tools, spoke like a master craftsman, ”When applying the second coat of finish paint, you must pay special attention. It’s easy to have ’drips,’ which are tears appearing on the wall...”

As he spoke expertly, when he actually started working, he accidentally applied too much paint to the roller because he was busy watching the girl beside him.

A clear white ”drip” immediately started flowing slowly down the wall.

”Uh... mistake, mistake...” Tang Song awkwardly tried to fix it with the brush, but it only got worse.

After all, he was just an amateur.

With a nearby girl listening intently, full of admiration, who had been his middle school desk mate and secretly crushing on him for years, it’s inevitable he’d have some ”show-off” thoughts, only to have it backfire.

The Attractive Man’s image instantly took a hit.

Seeing him look so embarrassed, Zhang Yan’s tense face couldn’t help but break into laughter.

She quickly covered her mouth with her hand, blushing, and said, ”I’m sorry.”

But her beautiful almond eyes were already filled with bright, irrepressible amusement.

Tang Song looked at her expression and laughed along with her.

This small, adorable mistake was like a magical switch, breaking the subtle, somewhat unreal barrier between them.

Zhang Yan’s mood finally completely relaxed.

Her gaze towards Tang Song carried a hint of intimacy and naturalness.

Summoning the courage, she quietly suggested, ”I... I’ll give it a try too. You paint the higher places, I’ll paint the lower ones, this might go faster.”

”Alright, girls should be more meticulous with this kind of task.”

”Wait for me.” Zhang Yan responded, quickly ran to the bedroom, changed into some old clothes that she didn’t mind getting dirty, and put on a hat.

Then she picked up another brush and cautiously began her ”work.”

Her movements were clumsy but exceptionally focused.

Tang Song occasionally spoke to her, correcting her painting technique.

In this small bathroom, the atmosphere was warm as if time had rewound.

Occasionally, when their eyes met, Zhang Yan would still shy away like a startled little rabbit.

But after a while, she’d shyly lift her eyes again and give him a bashful smile.

This solid sense of participation in labor brought her an unprecedented feeling of secure happiness.

...

At noon, Zhang Yan personally arranged a ”sumptuous” homemade meal.

Although the ingredients were simple, under her skillful hands, each dish emitted an enticing aroma.

The two sat around the coffee table, devouring the meal heartily.

After eating, they leaned directly on the sofa and opened the fourth volume of ”Dragon Ball.”

This time, not only Tang Song spoke, but Zhang Yan occasionally voiced her opinions on the plot.

There was a sense of discussion between the two.

Over the years, she’d actually read the ”Dragon Ball” manga several times and was very familiar with the plot.

The fourth volume was finished.

The two cooperated once more, starting the second round of painting the kitchen and balcony.

By the time everything was settled, the sky outside had gradually darkened.

They began to tidy up tools and clear the trash.

Tang Song stood at the bathroom’s washbasin and casually said, ”Zhang Yan, could you pass me the small spade from the balcony? I forgot to bring it over.”

”Mm.” Zhang Yan replied, quickly ran to the balcony, picked up the spade stained with some paint, ”Here you go, it’s quite sharp, so be careful when washing...”
