Chapter 647: Chapter 316: Wearing the Badge, Special Vision Chapter 647: Chapter 316: Wearing the Badge, Special Vision Friday, July 14, 2023, sunny, 27～39℃.

10 o’clock in the morning.

The final exam is over,

Qian Lele neatly packed up her stationery and documents, and tidied up her desk.

She swung her black backpack over her shoulder and headed out.

Her schoolmates walked briskly, gathering in groups and sharing their summer plans.

The 50-day summer vacation officially began, and every face was lit up with excitement and joy.

“Lele! Lele!” came a shout from behind.

Soon, a few female classmates came closer.

Qian Lele quickly greeted them, “Wenjia, Xueqi…”

They were from dormitories 205 and 206.

Since her freshman year, she spent most of her time studying or working part-time, mainly interacting with the five others from dormitory 213.

After all, there were only about 15 girls in their Computer Science department.

She wasn’t particularly close to the other girls, but their relationship was still decent.

It was a normal classmates’ relationship.

Shi Xueqi grabbed her arm and asked concernedly, “Lele, is it true you’re going to work full-time at Glimmer Cafe this summer?”

“Yes, that’s right,” Qian Lele nodded, feeling a bit awkward with their enthusiasm.

Another freckled girl asked, “How much is your monthly salary? How long do you work?”

Others also turned their attention to her.

Qian Lele pursed her lips and quietly said, “There are morning shifts and night shifts, usually working 9 hours at the cafe, with breaks in between. As for the salary, it’s the same as full-time employees.”

“How much exactly?”

“4500 yuan.” After a brief silence, Qian Lele revealed it.

Actually, as a temporary employee, she shouldn’t even get that much.

But Xie Shuyu, her boss, treated her well and matched her salary with the formal staff.

Upon hearing her reply, the girls’ eyes instantly lit up.

“Wow! That’s really a lot!”

“I went to Glimmer Cafe once; it’s in the Morning Star Building nearby. The environment is fantastic, and many professionals work there.”

“It’s a chain cafe that’s quite popular online; you can often see it in short videos.”

“I feel their environment is even better than Starbucks.”

…

“Oh, Lele, do you guys get free lunch meals at noon?”

“And can you take away the soon-to-expire food?”

“Yes… That’s correct,” Qian Lele nodded, about to explain something.

The girls’ eyes sparkled as they chatted noisily:

“That’s great! I was a bit skeptical when Duan Fang told me earlier.”

“Duan Fang said the cafe is still hiring part-timers. You have a great relationship with the boss and help maintain the company’s website. We’d like to find a part-time job this summer—could you help us get in touch?”

“We’ve all worked part-time in restaurants and places like that before, so we have some experience.”

“And we’re not picky about locations; other branches are fine too.”

…

Upon hearing Duan Fang’s name and their words,

Qian Lele’s full lips twitched as she immediately understood the situation.

The cafe was indeed hiring part-timers but had strict requirements.

The key point was that she managed to get the 4500 salary due to backend maintenance, and Teacher Jiang’s help.

Comparison is always troubling.

Even if they got hired, if their salary was lower than hers, it would still create a rift and potential conflict.

Duan Fang was an example of this previously.

Although she understood all these, her sensitive heart and simple nature still stopped her from saying no.

Thinking for a moment, Qian Lele quietly said, “I’ll ask the company leaders first, I’m just a temporary worker after all.”

“Okay, thank you Lele!”

“We believe in you, Lele. Duan Fang said you’re very well accepted at Glimmer Coffee.”

“Unbelievable, Lele, you’re amazing.”

Listening to their compliments, Qian Lele couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

Life always seems like this, full of unexpected bumps and hurdles.

…

Girls’ dormitory, room 213.

A few change of clothes, simple toiletries, a bag of books.

Everything was packed into one suitcase.

In addition, there was a canvas tote bag.

It held items from when she used to run a stall.

At night when she had no classes or part-time jobs, she would set up her stall at the pedestrian street outside the school.

She sold various bracelets and hand chains.

She sourced from PDD, buying 100 pieces for just 150 yuan, averaging 1.5 yuan each, and sold them for 5 yuan apiece.

Although unstable, she could still earn some money.

“Eeeeek—” The dorm door was pushed open.

Five roommates walked in chatting.

Qian Lele quickly shifted her luggage.

“In this hot summer, Lele, you can’t even bring yourself to turn on the air conditioner!?” One roommate glanced around the room, grabbed the remote on the table, and pressed it.

The others chuckled.

“Lele is used to being thrifty.”

“Only Lele and Fangfang are staying in the dorm during the summer; they’ll have to split the electricity bill.”

Duan Fang glanced at Qian Lele’s belongings, raising her eyebrows, “Lele, are you moving out? Don’t want to stay in the dorm with me? We come from the same county, now that you’re a master baker at the cafe, you don’t want to bother with me anymore?”

Her family conditions weren’t good either; she definitely needed to work in Yan City during the summer.

After being dismissed from the cafe, she just found a summer job last week.

She’s a server at a party venue now, earning a thousand yuan less than Qian Lele. The job provided meals but not accommodation.
