Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3657  A Severed Bond?

In the distance, there was a woman clad in a dark velvet robe.

Davis found himself drawn to her sparkling amethyst eyes, which gleamed like distant stars in the night sky, reflecting the mysteries of the universe. Her complexion was as pure and flawless as snow, radiating an otherworldly glow that seemed to defy earthly imperfections. Wrapped in a dark velvet robe, she exuded an aura of elegance and grace of a noble lady, and even her body that was now in possession of the curves of womanhood made her look quite alluring, but he knew she was still childish and knew to act cute.

Yet, her expression was anything but cute right now as it looked worried.

Stella pursed her lips, looking at him like she had somehow wronged him, causing Davis to smile lightly.

He raised his hand and beckoned, ”Come here.”

”…!”

Stellaʼs expression brightened. She turned to look back and saw her mother, Wix Voidfield, who nodded her head before she rushed to Davis, her figure dashing like a fairy. She appeared before him in a swift motion, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

However, that excitement soon died like a flame that was doused with water before she lowered her head again.

Davis held the side of her arm and opened his mouth, ”Do you have something you want to ask?”

He prompted her, causing Stella to raise her head and stick out her bottom lip, ”Do you hate mother?”

”No, I donʼt.”

Davisʼs voice was clear, but Stella didnʼt seem to accept it as she looked worried.

”I heard what happened between big brother and motherʼs master. Is this going to sour our relationship…? Is big brother going to… abandon me…?”

”Why would I?”

Davis couldnʼt help but chuckle. He captured her small hands and wrapped them with warmth.

”Did you do anything that I have to worry about?”

”…” Stella blinked, ”No~”

”So what are you afraid of?” Davisʼs lips curled, ”If your mother isnʼt going to give you to me, Iʼm afraid that I would have to come fight to take you away.”

”Hehe~”

Stella finally regained her smile as she jumped a few times with delight. It made Davis close his eyes, not knowing how many times he wanted Stella to be like a lady when she had a voluptuous body like her mother!

However, Stella quickly pouted and swayed his hand left and right, ”Then please donʼt hate Mother.”

”As I said,” Davis pursed his lips, finally opening his eyes, ”I donʼt hate your mother. I kept an eye on everything that happened, and your mother didnʼt really seem to know what was happening at that time.”

He smiled and looked behind Stella, nodding at Wix Voidfield.

Wix Voidfield smiled lightly behind her veil in relaxation. This whole time, she had been worried that Davis wouldnʼt accept Stella anymore, but it seemed like she hadnʼt been wrong about him from the beginning.

She returned the nod, ”Sheʼs yours from now on, so take good care of her.”

”…?”

Davis blinked, unable to believe those words. He looked at Stella who seemed to shyly blush and lower her head.

However, Davis wasnʼt having this so fast as he didnʼt want to separate mother and daughter.

”Fairy Wix, itʼs not like we wouldnʼt meet anymore, so thereʼs no need to send Stella off to me. Of course, I would like to have her with me but I donʼt think it would be a good call to rob her away from you who nurtured her for not twenty or hundred years but hundreds and thousands of years.”

”I appreciate your thoughts.” Wix Voidfield smiled wryly behind her veil, ”However, as masterʼs Void Dust Tree, I must follow her lead and be loyal to her. I know you have been wronged, and I apologize in my masterʼs stead, but Iʼm afraid I canʼt take your side, and I donʼt think my daughter deserves her happiness to be taken away either, so I once again ask you to take care of her.”

She cupped her hands, signaling a formal send-off.

”…”

Davis was pretty speechless as he saw Fairy Wix cut off her relationship with Stella, as this is what that meant.

Of course, it wasnʼt like they wouldnʼt talk and protect each other anymore, but the recurrence of it would be cut to the bare minimum that he felt like he was needlessly severing their mother-daughter relationship, making him slightly feel guilty.

He turned to look at Stella and also saw that she had tears in her eyes that refused to spill out. However, she still refused to let go of his hand, holding it firmly, which allowed him to know her determination to stay with him.

”You know what…” Davis chuckled lightly, bringing Stella to Wix Voidfield as he closed the distance.

Reaching out his other hand, he kept his palm open, ”Join me, Fairy Wix. I promise to look after you the same way I would look after Stella. Then, the two of you can be together.”

”…”

Wix Voidfield blinked while Saintess Lunariaʼs brows raised.

They were silent as though they couldnʼt believe what they had just heard.

After a few seconds, Davis saw that there was no answer, and he couldnʼt help but laugh.

”Haha~ My arrogance came out once again, thinking I could recruit Fairy Wix.” He shook his head, ”To be honest-”

His lips curled, turning to look back at Saintess Lunaria.

”I just wanted to see you cry after I rob Fairy Wix from you.”

”…”

Davis made a cold yet derisive expression before he returned his gaze to Fairy Wix.

”Sorry about that. It is too frustrating for me not to be able to do anything against your master, as I owe her too much. But itʼs not like I can do anything against her since she has someone looking after her. I didnʼt mean to use you, but my intent to not separate you from Stella is also true.”

”…” Wix Voidfield.

Davis smiled, ”Donʼt get me wrong. I understand your position, but I still donʼt want to separate the two of you. Feel free to visit her anytime you please since I trust you wouldnʼt betray me without formally declaring war, but that wouldnʼt be betrayal, would it?”

He chuckled, cupping his hand, ”Then I bid farewell.”

”Stella, shall we go?”

”Ah, yes…”

Stella was pretty much dumbfounded like her mother, absentmindedly following him into the distance before she turned back and shouted.

”Mother, I love you very much~ Thank you for giving birth to me and nurturing me!”

”…”

Wix Voidfield shuddered as she finally came out of her reverie. Turning to look back, she raised her hand and waved, ”Have a good life, my beloved daughter~ I will always look out for you~”

Stella also waved back her hand, her face flooded with tears.

Soon, they disappeared out of the horizon, leaving Wix Voidfield and Saintess Lunaria behind.

Saintess Lunaria gazed in the direction Davis and Stella left for a while before she sighed.

”I didnʼt think my actions wouldʼve hurt him that much. Itʼs my fault for not being sympathetic enough to his plight.”

”…”

Wix Voidfield stood to her side, standing slightly back, ”Master, itʼs not like we had time. I understand we quickly had to make a move, so I… donʼt… blame you.”

”Even if you say that with some hesitance clear in your voice…”

Wix Voidfield lowered her head, ”Forgive me, master.”

”Itʼs fine. As I said, itʼs my fault. I am trying to rectify it, but right now, no amount of words will change his mind. In fact, I think it has only worsened with time as he now wants to see my cry, which is more humiliating for me than getting slapped.”

Saintess Lunaria smilingly shook her head, ”That childʼs frustration has been bottled up too long.”

”Perhaps slaughtering some people will help him release those frustrations, no?” Wix Voidfield suggested.

”Or it could worsen.” Saintess Lunaria sighed, ”I only hope that he doesnʼt fall to the wicked side as sometimes, the righteous path does overdo things as I did a while ago and end up pushing a person to the wicked side when they could be saved. I would be guilty of pushing him down the wrong path, and I canʼt allow that to happen~”

”Still,” She abruptly turned to look at Wix Voidfield, ”You didnʼt say no to him when he asked you to join him.”

”…”

Wix Voidfield wanted to say that she had been speechless at that time, but she felt like no number of excuses would make a difference.

She lowered her head, ”Forgive me, master~”

Saintess Lunaria closed her eyes and shook her head, ”Iʼm not the one keeping you with me as I long told you to go pursue a man. Iʼve never been with one, but I do see how it brings an extremity in a woman. You could be happier than ever or miserable, and I do see a pattern in his wives as theyʼre happier than most couples I have seen. Isnʼt that why you also sent Stella to him?”

”I wish to be together with you until I die, my human~”

Wix Voidfield grabbed Saintess Lunariaʼs hand like Stella would, her countenance turning rather needy.

”Ai, if you say that and get together with a man in the future, I wonʼt forgive you~”

Saintess Lunaria also acted like a child, looking needy as she firmly held Wix Voidfieldʼs hand.

”In that case, I promise to only fall in love with the man you fall in love with, master~”

”No way. My man is mine and mine alone~”

Saintess Lunaria shook her head and giggled, ”I put off marriage in hopes of meeting my true prince in the true immortal world but didnʼt dare think too much since I am a Divergent. Well, letʼs see what is there in store for us as ascendance is near.”

”…”

Wix Voidfield didnʼt know what to say. In that case, was she supposed to remain alone till she died?

She inwardly shrugged, thinking she had already given birth to a child, so there was little point in looking for a yang companion. However, she was happy to have seen Saintess Lunariaʼs childish side after a long time.

It filled her with the tender emotions of them meeting for the first time and promising to be there for each other, making her smile foolishly.

If Davis had seen this scene, he probably wouldnʼt have been able to differentiate the daughter from the mother and vice versa.
