Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 1252 - Heretical Action

”Kid, you showed me an amusing reaction. Zeze~”

The Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Immortal laughed in amus.e.m.e.nt, ”A Supreme Immortal Rune doesnʼt mean that it has anything to do with a particular Immortal or being an Immortal, but itʼs a title given to the ultimate rune that a human could manifest. Apparently, when the person who possesses the Supreme Immortal Rune reaches the peak of Law Rune Stage, it is said that it would allow them to kill an Immortal in a single move!”

”What...?” Davis could only find himself uttering in disbelief.

His mutated revolving core was such a big thing? He didnʼt think that it would have this much of a tremendous potential as he had always thought it was a dud where it only managed to increase his essence energy capacity by a large margin and his prowess a bit.

”Zeze~ Although it may be exaggerated, I have not seen someone with such prowess, although I have seen Law Rune Stage geniuses at least be able to struggle against Immortals for a short time, so you donʼt need to worry about it for now.”

”However, your revolving coreʼs potential doesnʼt end there because once you step into the Immortal Stage, it would also make the rune give you an advantage in consolidating your Immortal Foundation, so I ask that you do not do something foolish as starting from the beginning as you donʼt have my true essence blood, nor the luck you had when your revolving core mutated.”

The Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Immortal sounded solemn.

”Although you cannot, I can sense a deep energy slumbering within your revolving core. It has yet to explode, thatʼs all. Moreover, if you are suicidal enough, I muse that it could even take out a Peak-Level Eighth Stage Expert with its current strength.”

Davis became overloaded with this bunch of information that he had so many questions to ask. However, his eyes perceived that its silhouette was becoming duller by the second.

”Itʼs time...”

The Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Immortal uttered as it smilingly shook its head.

”This entire region covered by the Lightning Sea was supposed to be a deathbed to whoever got trapped in it after the inheritance was taken away, but you managed to find this cave while my remnant soul mysteriously became active as it manifested again. I couldnʼt help but think that this happened according to heavenʼs will, so I arbitrarily decided to help you.”

ʼIt wasnʼt me who found this underground cave, though...ʼ Davis inwardly chuckled as he thought of Ezekiel Alstreim, but he did not bother about it since he was the one who woke this immortal up from near-death slumber. He felt that he rightfully deserved whatever was left of this inheritance, including its risks.

For all he knew, he mightʼve been blown apart by this Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Immortal.

”Nevertheless, you have nothing that says youʼre one of us, so let me use my last strands of remnant soul force to embed a Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Clanʼs mark in you so that when you meet them, you will be able to prove that you have earned the right and not someone who merely stole the Blazing Thunderlight Kirinʼs Firestorm World Ode and practiced in it.”

”This way, the characters relating to me or the original inheritor himself will not be able to attack you in the name of justice or reclaiming what was lost. This will also help you exit the place in one piece along with whoever you wish on the outside, so I wish you well in your journey to the point of ascension.”

As it finished its speech, it condensed a tiny flaming crimson light that sparkled with black lightning before it shot towards Davisʼs forehead.

Davis did not resist as it entered his forehead and turned into a spark that remained floating in his soul sea, doing nothing as it became duller by the second before it became a stable tiny dot that seemed like it could flicker into a spark. However, he could feel that he could interact with it to emulate some kind of aura; the most probable would be the Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Immortalʼs aura.

ʼSo this will allow me to walk unbridled within the Lightning Sea...?ʼ Davis mused.

Nevertheless, as he looked towards the front where its figure had somehow returned back to those words of lightning, he couldnʼt help but gulp as he couldnʼt help but slowly move towards it.

Davisʼs eyes went wide as he saw an enormous opportunity. His greed flared up as he saw the words of lightning.

Since it could manifest a remnant soul, it was undoubtedly a form of soul essence, and he could refine soul essences to comprehend laws!

ʼSo what if I donʼt have its blood essence? With its bit of soul essence here, I muse that I would be able to extract a bit of law comprehension from it.ʼ

He could feel it weakening by the second at a rapid pace, making him understand that it had expended all its energy! Its consciousness had dispersed that it didnʼt even have time to extinguish its remnant soul again. However, he was still careful in approaching and prodding it for a few minutes.

Only after it showed no reaction did he absorb it into his soul sea amidst Nadiaʼs astonished gaze. He practically sat down and began to refine it, thinking that he could not waste time as its soulʼs aura was already falling below the Peak-Level Ninth Stage.

”Quick! Fallen Heaven, quickly refine it!”

”I am on it...”

Fallen Heavenʼs deep voice echoed.

Even in his soul sea, it continued to drop, but once it got covered in Fallen Heavenʼs death-like energy, it suddenly came to a standstill as if something impeded it from dissipating. Davis noticed this in astonishment and narrowed his eyes.

So once the refinement process started, it wouldnʼt be able to experience a natural change as it was all absorbed by him and Fallen Heaven.

He became satisfied and finally nodded his head in satisfaction. His gains may not be much when compared to an entire Immortal Inheritance, but he mused that he had the wits and luck to recover whatever he could from the remnant soul of the Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Immortal.

However, Davis felt a bit awkward suddenly.

What he was doing was no different than refining a corpseʼs blood like a heretical alchemist. Not anyone would be able to refine soul essence and absorb all of its efficacy, but he could with Fallen Heaven. Otherwise, there would be many people out for soul essences like him.

======

A month passed with time spent in refinement and comprehension.

Davis stood up as lightning flickered and flames surged out of his body, but the flames quickly died down with only the terrifying black lightning that crackled with intensity remained.

The Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Immortalʼs Lightning and Fire now belonged to him! But he could not use those terrifying crimson flames due to incompatibility. He felt like he needed to deal with it sooner so that he could stabilize in the Law Manifestation Stage itself, which should be easier to do than reaching the Law Dominion Stage and then converting his revolving core.

Nevertheless, the gain he had in Lightning Laws was more compared to Fire Laws because he had lesser comprehension of Fire Laws. The extinction lightning was similar to Blazing Thunderlight Kirinʼs Lighting, so as a branch in the sea of laws, he was able to find extreme similarities within them, making it so that he could instantly use the Blazing Thunderlight Kirinʼs Lightning better than the extinction lightning itself!

He received an equal amount of comprehension from the gaseous cloud where his Fire Law Intent that was at Level Two turned into Blazing Thunderlight Kirinʼs Flames from normal flames.

ʼHowever, it is a pity that I canʼt use it for now...ʼ Davis mused as he smiled.

Needless to say, he had already studied the Blazing Thunderlight Kirinʼs Firestorm Ode and replaced the manual he was using from before, and unsurprisingly his dantian and revolving core didnʼt show any kind of rejection towards it, just as the Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Immortal said.

The Incursive Barren Lightning Manual had become obsolete to him, so he stopped circulating it and used the circulation method written in the Blazing Thunderlight Kirinʼs Firestorm Ode.

Fortunately, since there were two laws prescribed in it, he needed to complete two different cycles of circulation to enhance himself in both the fire and lightning cultivation path, but since he only needed the lightning path, he circulated only the cycle required for enhancing the cultivation path of lightning.

As far as he could feel, there were no discrepancies in his cultivation base from only circulating a single path in his meridian pathway, and he could quickly understand that the manual was quite flexible.

ʼAs expected of an Immortal Grade Cultivation Manual... It is practically a gem for the current me...ʼ

Davis became deeply satisfied with the time spent here, and he wasnʼt disappointed like he thought he would be initially. Fortunately, he didnʼt get killed or maimed. Moreover, he obtained a valid way to exit this Lightning Sea instead of using Fallen Heavenʼs life-like powers.

ʼWith this, I could probably even take all them away if I want to...ʼ Davis couldnʼt help but laugh.

”Davis, how do you feel?” Nadia worriedly asked as she placed her hand on his shoulder.

Davis smiled and grasped her hand, ”I feel incredible! My lightningʼs prowess has increased by many times that I feel like I could kill a Mid-Level Law Dominion Stage Cultivator in a single move!”

”Thatʼs great!~” Nadiaʼs lips widened in glee as she smiled.

As long as Davis became powerful, she felt happier than ever because she felt almost everything in the world belongs to Davis in her mind. The words that she said werenʼt just for praising as she really thought it that way.

”Hehe... Letʼs go, Nadia. Itʼs time we returned back to our home in a while!”

”Yes!~”

Nadia transformed into her magical beast form as Davis mounted her as they left.
