Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1062: Chapter 1062: Got a Big Scare

Though the nunnery was remote, it still attracted a few curious tourists now and then. So, Jingzhai had stationed a few disciples here year-round to keep things under wraps.

Since the place was crawling with tourists, Miao Chan put on her wig again when they got out of the car. The guest master here didn’t recognize her at first.

Seeing the three of them enter, she greeted them with a smile, ”Are the two laypersons here to offer incense? There are some incense sticks over there on the table. Feel free to take what you need.”

Miao Chan looked around and, seeing no strangers, let out a sigh of relief. She grabbed the guest master’s hand and said, ”Sister, it’s me.”

”Who are you?” The guest master was puzzled for a moment, but then she recognized Miao Chan and exclaimed, ”Sister Miao Chan! What happened to you?”

Miao Chan took off her wig and said, ”It’s more convenient to move around outside with a wig on.”

The guest master nodded in understanding. As the official guest master, she was one of the few people in the sect who had regular contact with the outside world. She wasn’t the type to be old-fashioned. Besides, in Cihang Jingzhai, not everyone was a nun.

Almost half of them practiced with their hair on, so seeing a fellow disciple with hair wasn’t strange at all.

After chatting with Miao Chan for a bit, the guest master turned to Ye Fei and said with a smile, ”And this must be Layperson Ye.”

”I am Ye Fei. Nice to meet you, Master,” Ye Fei replied with a respectful bow. It was clear that Miao Chan and this kind-hearted guest master were quite familiar with each other and had a good relationship. Miao Chan must have been well taken care of by her in the past, so Ye Fei was very polite to her.

”Oh, you’re too polite, Layperson Ye,” the guest master said, feeling a bit flattered. She quickly returned the bow and continued, ”A few days ago, Senior Masters Jingxu and Mieyin mentioned that you would bring Sister Miao Chan here soon. I didn’t expect you so soon. You’re truly a man of your word.”

After a few more polite exchanges, Ye Fei and Miao Chan said goodbye to the guest master and the other Jingzhai disciples and entered the back hall of the nunnery. Miao Chan found an inconspicuous stone stool, spun it a few times, and a hidden door appeared in the wall.

To Ye Fei’s surprise, the hidden door didn’t lead to a tunnel as he had imagined. Instead, it opened into a room that looked like a scripture hall, filled with bookshelves and scriptures. This place was designed to prevent tourists from accidentally wandering in.

The secret room wasn’t very large, but it was incredibly tall, about ten meters high. Miao Chan walked to the center of the room, jumped up about ten meters, and pressed a spot on the ceiling. Immediately, another opening appeared.

Watching this, Ye Fei couldn’t help but admire the caution of Cihang Jingzhai. The hidden door was so well concealed that even if someone knew it was there, they wouldn’t be able to get in without some skill. Ordinary tourists would have no chance.

The opening led to a long tunnel. Ye Fei estimated in his mind that it was about five or six kilometers long. But for two experts like them, a few kilometers was nothing. In less than ten minutes, they reached the end and felt a sense of openness.

What lay before Ye Fei was a valley several kilometers in diameter. It was early spring, and while the outside world was still freezing, this place was filled with birdsong and the scent of flowers. Wooden cottages dotted the lush greenery, giving it a feel of a paradise away from the world.

No tourist had ever discovered this place. There must be some kind of formation protecting it. The strength of Cihang Jingzhai was evident from the fact that they could create such a formation.

If Ye Fei hadn’t seen the naturally protected valley that he and his aunt had stumbled upon before, he would have been extremely surprised. But now he was quite calm. After all, compared to this place, that valley he and his aunt knew about was even larger, more beautiful, and more magical.

Seeing that Ye Fei wasn’t surprised, Miao Chan couldn’t help but ask, ”Aren’t you amazed by this place?”

”Why should I be?” Ye Fei countered. He quickly realized what Miao Chan meant. No wonder she hadn’t described Cihang Jingzhai to him before—she wanted to see his reaction. He reached out and started stroking her smooth bald head, teasing, ”When did my little Miao Chan become so mischievous? Tell me, who taught you this?”

”Oooh...” Tickled by the touch, Miao Chan let out a soft moan and felt a bit weak in the knees.

Just as the two were teasing each other, an ill-timed Buddhist chant floated over.

Miao Chan was startled and jumped away like a frightened rabbit. She turned to see who had spoken and found none other than her master, Senior Master Jingxu.

Miao Chan had been an orphan and had been raised by Senior Master Jingxu since she could remember. In her heart, her master was like a mother. She hadn’t felt the separation much while she was with Ye Fei and Tang Yu, but now, seeing her master again, she couldn’t hold back her emotions. Her eyes welled up instantly, and she choked out, ”Master...”

”Foolish child, why are you crying? Our reunion is a joyous occasion,” Senior Master Jingxu said as she approached, first hugging Miao Chan like a mother comforting her child, then turning to Ye Fei. ”Thank you, Layperson Ye, for bringing Miao Chan back from so far away.”

”It’s nothing, Senior Master,” Ye Fei replied with a smile. ”Miao Chan grew up in Jingzhai, so it’s only right that I bring her back to visit. Besides, I have other business here.”

”Are you looking for Senior Master Ningxue? She lives in that cottage over there,” Senior Master Jingxu pointed to a wooden house partially hidden in the forest.

Ye Fei wasn’t surprised that Senior Master Jingxu knew his purpose. As one of the top martial arts sects, Cihang Jingzhai’s intelligence network was no joke. They might not know why his aunt had left home, but finding out her identity would be easy.

However, the title Senior Master Jingxu used for his aunt shocked Ye Fei. ”Senior Master?” he asked in surprise.

”You see,” Senior Master Jingxu explained with a smile, ”Senior Master Ningxue has become very close to one of our senior predecessors and has now taken her as her master.”

”What! My aunt became a nun?” Ye Fei couldn’t help but exclaim, even though it seemed impolite in front of the two nuns. He was just too shocked. Although he liked Miao Chan, the little nun, just fine, he didn’t want any of his other women to become nuns.
