Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 775: The Bonds of Emotion

Since Ye Jing only had a common cold, Ye Fei didnʼt bother to seek out Dongfang Ruolan. Instead, he had Xu Shuyun take her to a nearby small hospital. In truth, for a minor cold like this, Ye Fei could have used his internal energy to disperse the chill and cure her instantly.

However, since the little girl hadnʼt started practicing martial arts yet, using his internal energy to circulate through her meridians would prematurely open them up.

Unlike Han Xiaoyingʼs natural and innate connection with all meridians, this would be more like forcing growth, which wouldnʼt benefit her future cultivation. Therefore, Ye Fei decided against it.

It didnʼt take long for the car to arrive at the small hospital. Ye Fei carried Ye Jing in his arms, while Xu Shuyun held an umbrella over them. The peculiar family of three quickly made their way inside.

Given the hospitalʼs modest size, there werenʼt many patients, which spared Ye Fei from having to consider using any special privileges.

The two of them smoothly completed the necessary procedures and had Ye Jing admitted to a room in record time, where she was promptly put on an IV.

After the IV was set up, the doctor and nurses left, and the atmosphere between Ye Fei and Xu Shuyun became somewhat subtle.

Ye Fei didnʼt say anything, just looked at Xu Shuyun with a half-smile. Xu Shuyun, feeling increasingly uncomfortable under his gaze, blushed slightly and said, ”Ye Fei, donʼt listen to Jingjingʼs nonsense. Sheʼs just delirious from the fever.”

Ye Fei couldnʼt help but find this amusing. He hadnʼt even asked anything, yet she was already explaining herself. Wasnʼt this a classic case of trying to cover up? With a mischievous grin, he asked, ”What nonsense did Jingjing say? I donʼt remember.”

”You…” Ye Feiʼs feigned ignorance made Xu Shuyun even more embarrassed. She stammered, ”Itʼs nothing. Anyway… childrenʼs words canʼt be trusted.”

”Really? I seem to recall a saying that goes, ʼChildren speak without inhibition,ʼ” Ye Fei teased.

”I…” Xu Shuyun was at a loss for words and could only say stubbornly, ”I donʼt care. Youʼre not allowed to believe or remember certain things!”

In Ye Feiʼs memory, Xu Shuyun had always exuded an air of intellectual beauty, but he had never seen her this adorable before. His fondness for her grew even more, and he chuckled, ”Alright, Iʼve already forgotten. But you canʼt keep being so deliberately cold to me from now on, okay?”

Having her thoughts exposed, Xu Shuyunʼs face turned red again. She retorted, ”Who… whoʼs being deliberately cold to you? Thatʼs just your imagination.”

”Heh…” Ye Fei laughed but didnʼt press the issue further. Instead, he let his gaze shift between the mother and daughter. When he looked at Ye Jing, it was pure concern, but when his eyes fell on Xu Shuyun, a tenderness was unmistakable.

Under Ye Feiʼs gaze, Xu Shuyunʼs heart grew increasingly flustered, and her heartbeat quickened. Yet, this nervousness didnʼt bother her. On the contrary, Ye Feiʼs gaze filled her with an uncontrollable sense of sweetness.

In this awkward and暧昧 atmosphere, Ye Jing finally finished her IV, and her fever subsided. However, she was still quite exhausted and only managed to exchange a few words with Ye Fei before falling into a deep sleep.

Now that Ye Jingʼs condition was under control, Ye Fei and Xu Shuyun naturally couldnʼt let her stay in the hospital. They took her back home, and by the time they returned, it was already late at night.

”Jingjing is fine now. You should go back,” Xu Shuyun said somewhat heartlessly as they stepped out of Ye Jingʼs room.

Ye Fei widened his eyes in disbelief and looked at Xu Shuyun. ”Really? Itʼs still raining outside. Are you seriously telling me to leave?”

Xu Shuyun felt a bit awkward. Truthfully, she didnʼt genuinely want Ye Fei to leave. Deep down, she even wished he would stay.

But because of her daughterʼs earlier words, she couldnʼt help but feel her heart race whenever she faced Ye Fei, which made her instinctively want to keep her distance.

However, after hearing Ye Feiʼs response, she realized how inappropriate her suggestion was. ”Fine, do as you please. Iʼm going to bed,” she said, turning to head upstairs.

Ye Fei reached out and took Xu Shuyunʼs hand, pulling her back with a smile.

”Donʼt be in such a hurry. Stay and talk with me.”

He guided her to sit beside him, deciding that he didnʼt want to play any more guessing games. He tried to lay his feelings bare.

Sitting next to Ye Fei, surrounded by his strong masculine presence, Xu Shuyunʼs heart fluttered even more. She asked instinctively, ”What do you want to talk about?”

Ye Feiʼs expression turned serious as he confessed earnestly, ”I want to tell you how I feel. I want you to know that from the day my uncle passed away, I decided I would take care of you and Jingjing for the rest of my life.”

”Huh?” Xu Shuyun was completely caught off guard by Ye Feiʼs directness. Her heart was a mix of sweetness and panic. She quickly replied, ”I know. Since your uncle is gone, of course, you must take care of us.”

”Are you still going to run away from this?” Ye Fei stared intently at Xu Shuyun. ”You know what I mean!”

”I… I donʼt know. I donʼt know anything. I canʼt betray your uncle!” Xu Shuyun avoided Ye Feiʼs burning gaze, stood up, and ran toward the stairs. ”Iʼm going to bed!”

Ye Fei didnʼt chase after her. Instead, he watched her alluring figure disappear from view with a confident smile. Then, he leisurely returned to his room, took a comfortable shower, and wrapped himself in a towel before sitting down.

After waiting for a while, assuming Xu Shuyun had fallen asleep, Ye Fei quietly left his room and sneaked into her bedroom. Yes, he was planning to play the role of the flower thief once more.

Sure enough, Xu Shuyun was already asleep. Ye Fei sat by her bedside, gazing at her exquisitely beautiful face, which was filled with an intellectual charm nurtured by years of cultural refinement.

The more he looked at her, the more he fell in love. Unable to resist, he leaned down to kiss her lips.

But just at that moment, Xu Shuyunʼs delicate brows furrowed slightly, and her lips parted as she murmured, ”Lingtian, Lingtian…”

Ye Feiʼs heart jolted, and a bitter expression crossed his face. Had he been mistaken? Did her heart belong only to his uncle, with no room for him?

This thought instantly extinguished Ye Feiʼs desire to pursue her further.

The reason he wanted Xu Shuyun was primarily because he believed she had feelings for him.

If that wasnʼt the case, he would never force her.

Just as Ye Fei was about to leave in disappointment, he heard Xu Shuyun murmur in her sleep again, ”Lingtian, Iʼm sorry…”

Ye Fei was well aware of the deep bond between Xu Shuyun and Ye Lingtian. They had been in love freely, and their married life had been far happier than that of his parents.

It was precisely because of this that Ye Fei feared Xu Shuyun wouldnʼt be able to handle the blow of Ye Lingtianʼs death.

Moreover, he had developed his feelings for this intellectually beautiful and sensual woman.

With a heart full of both love and pity, he had appeared by her side during her most vulnerable moments. And clearly, his presence had been effective.

Thanks to him, Xu Shuyun didnʼt collapse. Instead, she had developed a deep attachment to him.
