Chapter 274: Danzo: As Long as I Live Long Enough, It Will Eventually Be My Turn to Be Hokage

Amemiya Kenichi took Sasuke on a sightseeing and eating tour of Konoha. Sasuke wanted to try all sorts of things, but his appetite was small. After eating a few snacks, he was already full and contentedly patted his little belly.

Afterward, they stayed at an inn in Konoha. Amemiya Kenichi had plenty of money, so paying for a room was no issue. These relaxed days passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, four days had gone by. It was time for Amemiya Kenichi to leave.

Although Konoha was nice, he could not openly remain here for long. Besides, during these past few days, he had been thinking about how to improve his gene programming. He now had some ideas, so it was time to head back.

”Amemiya elder brother, are we leaving today?” Sasuke asked reluctantly while eating dango.

Amemiya Kenichi looked at Sasuke with a smile. He was a little curious about what kind of person Sasuke would become in the future now that he had already changed so much of the Ninja World’s plot. Would Sasuke still become the same bitter, vengeful person from the original story, or would he grow into someone else entirely?

Still, it really was time to leave, and Amemiya Kenichi was just about to tell Sasuke.

With a bang, Amemiya Kenichi instinctively turned his head and saw a raging blaze shoot into the sky from the direction of Konoha’s village gate.

Immediately, many ninja rushed out from both sides and ran toward the gate. At the same time, civilians nervously started packing their things, afraid something major was happening.

”What is going on? Why does all kinds of nonsense happen the moment I arrive?” Amemiya Kenichi was speechless. He had just been thinking about taking Sasuke and leaving Konoha to return to the Land of Rice Fields, but he had run into an emergency instead.

Sasuke was a little frightened, but he still clutched Amemiya Kenichi’s clothes and stood his ground, curiously staring toward the village gate.

The disturbance died down very quickly, however.

Amemiya Kenichi scratched his head and figured it was probably some small problem, not something worth worrying about. If it had been a truly strong enemy, they would not have been dealt with so fast.

So he went to settle the room bill and prepared to leave Konoha. During that time, he also heard Sasuke say that there were many people outside, but he did not pay much attention to it.

Sasuke curiously squeezed to the front of the crowd and stared at the figure slowly approaching down the street.

When Amemiya Kenichi finished paying and stepped out of the inn, he saw a woman walking along the street. Her ample figure and face instantly confirmed her identity. Of course, the excited cries from the crowd also made it obvious.

Tsunade.

Lady Tsunade was walking forward with a serious expression, surrounded by enthusiastic Konoha villagers and several stern faced ninja.

But Tsunade was not the main point.

The real problem was the woman walking beside her.

Long black hair, black eyes, and a face that looked strikingly similar to Itachi and Sasuke. Though she looked older now, and her clothes were worn with signs of battle on her body, Amemiya Kenichi still recognized her at once.

Uchiha Mikoto.

The moment Amemiya Kenichi saw her, he instinctively wanted to find Sasuke and cover his eyes. If he could recognize Mikoto, Sasuke definitely could too. If Sasuke saw her...

But while Amemiya Kenichi had gone inside to pay, Sasuke had already seen her.

The instant he recognized Mikoto, Sasuke lit up and shouted, ”Mommy!” as he jumped out.

Amemiya Kenichi took a deep breath.

That cry of ”Mommy!” was drowned in the crowd’s excited shouting, but ninja were not ordinary people. Almost instantly, Tsunade and several masked ANBU turned toward Sasuke’s direction, and Mikoto also looked over in shock.

”Mommy!” Sasuke pushed through the crowd and ran out into full view of Tsunade and the ANBU.

Mikoto stared at her son in disbelief, but in the next moment, her expression changed into confusion as she looked around, as if searching for the child’s actual mother.

”Is this your mother?” Tsunade knelt in front of Sasuke and pointed to Mikoto behind her.

The ninja behind them also stopped.

Mikoto looked at Sasuke with confusion, but there was a faint plea in her eyes. She hoped her precious son would realize something was wrong and deny it.

”Yes! She’s my mommy!” But how could little Sasuke understand something like that? He smiled brightly. He remembered this older sister in front of him. She had said some very deep and meaningful things to him before. Even if he had not understood them, they had sounded very impressive.

So Sasuke directly admitted it.

The excited crowd froze for a moment, then immediately erupted into noisy discussion.

Mikoto watched this scene in despair. She knew Sasuke was about to fall into Konoha’s hands just like she had, becoming a tool to lure out the other clan members.

Tsunade’s expression turned complicated. She remembered this little brat. He was the one who had asked her what the Will of Fire was before. But if this child was Sasuke, then the person who had been with Sasuke at that time...

”Sasuke, do not run around on your own again.”

A man walked out with a smile and raised his hand to knock Sasuke on the head.

The force was not heavy, but it was not light either. Sasuke immediately crouched down in pain and rubbed his little head.

At the same time, the man gave Mikoto a cold glance.

”Since you already decided to come to Konoha, why were you captured alive? Why did you not die?” he said to Mikoto, his words full of disgust and contempt.

Mikoto lowered her head.

She had been ready to die, but Tsunade’s appearance had caught her off guard. She had not known Tsunade had returned to Konoha, and with someone as strong as Tsunade, who was also a medical ninja, it was not easy to commit suicide.

”...You seem very confident,” Tsunade said, staring at the man in front of her.

He still wore that smiling expression, but the earlier fear was gone. Now he looked like someone who did not care about anything.

This face is fake. And if it is fake...

”Somewhat.” Amemiya Kenichi smiled as he tore off the mask from his face. Since the situation could no longer be reversed, there was no point in continuing the act.

The moment Tsunade saw his face, her pupils contracted, and she instinctively moved to shield Mikoto.

The ANBU beside her instantly formed a battle formation.

They recognized him.

Konoha’s S rank missing nin, Amemiya Kenichi.

”Lady Tsunade, after so many days, is this how you welcome me?” Amemiya Kenichi laughed loudly and spread his arms, looking very friendly.

The surrounding villagers and ninja also realized something was wrong.

Ordinary people began trying to flee, while the ninja gritted their teeth and stood in front of them.

Where the leaves dance, the fire burns.

Perhaps these people were the real practitioners of the Will of Fire.

”Amemiya Kenichi, you still dare come to Konoha?!” one ANBU shouted furiously. If Tsunade had not been standing in front of them, they would have attacked already.

Any missing nin had to be severely punished.

”No one attacks.” Tsunade’s expression was grave.

She had only fought Amemiya Kenichi once, but she knew the brat in front of her was nowhere near as weak as she had first assumed. In fact, he was far stronger than an ordinary jonin.

And now that he dared stand in front of her like this, he probably had confidence in whatever he was planning.

”How about we make a deal, Lady Tsunade?” Amemiya Kenichi smiled and snapped his fingers.

The next second, smoke rose around the area, followed by green flames that blocked the escape routes for ordinary people across the entire street.

”What are you doing?!” Tsunade looked at the scene in anger and shock.

How could she not understand what kind of deal Amemiya Kenichi meant?

This guy was becoming a madman, just like his teacher.

He was actually using the lives of so many ordinary people as bargaining chips?

At the same time, Tsunade was also confused. Those flames looked troublesome, but even strange black flames could be dealt with eventually. Did Amemiya Kenichi really think he could force Konoha with only this?

”Of course. I am taking Uchiha Sasuke, Uchiha Mikoto, and Uchiha Fugaku’s remains,” Amemiya Kenichi said as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

He could already sense ninja starting to extinguish the flames around them, but what he had prepared was never just this.

The moment he saw Mikoto, his first thought had been to avoid trouble. He was too lazy to get involved in this mess, the risk was high, and he was not close to Mikoto anyway.

But once Sasuke ran out, he knew the situation had become troublesome.

After weighing the risks and benefits of saving Mikoto and Sasuke, along with taking Fugaku’s remains, he decided to act.

It was risky, but if he succeeded, his prestige within the Uchiha Clan would rise sharply.

Using an old game comparison, his reputation with the Uchiha could jump straight to Revered, and his reputation with Itachi and Sasuke could go straight to Exalted.

”Do you think that is possible, Kenichi?” Tsunade stared at him, fists clenched tight.

This was Konoha.

Such a disturbance would absolutely attract the Third Hokage’s attention. Once that happened...

Kenichi held Sasuke in one hand and glanced at Mikoto again.

If he wanted to achieve his goal now, there was more than one way.

The simplest way was to crush them with raw power.

But if he wanted to force Konoha and the Third Hokage to yield through power, he would need strength on Nagato’s level, something like a Super Shinra Tensei that flattened all of Konoha in one move and instantly crippled most of their combat force.

The second way was to use force, or some other leverage, to pressure Konoha into agreeing to his terms.

Kenichi felt this method was realistic. Based on his understanding of the Third Hokage, as long as the threat was large enough, the old man would definitely compromise.

After all, Hiruzen was someone naturally good at compromise.

As for the third way, it would be for Kenichi to suddenly awaken Wood Release, use one move of Sage Art Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands, force the Third Hokage to abdicate on the spot, become the Fifth Hokage himself, and then declare the Uchiha Clan pardoned.

Of course, that possibility was far too small.

”It is not impossible,” Kenichi said with a smile, looking at Tsunade.

...

”You mean that if we let you and those two Uchiha leave now, you can finish that research faster?” Danzo looked at Kenichi in front of him, his face dark.

Naturally, Konoha’s events could not be hidden from Danzo.

And this incident was so large that he immediately sent Root to investigate, partly to assess the situation, and partly to see whether he could add fuel to the fire, smear his old rival, and also damage Tsunade’s reputation.

What he did not expect was to be intercepted by Kenichi.

Or rather, by Kenichi’s Shadow Clone.

”Yes. I assume Lord Danzo is familiar with this pair of eyes of mine, right?” Amemiya Kenichi’s Shadow Clone activated his three tomoe Sharingan, then deactivated it.

Danzo’s eyes instantly burned with desire.

He truly wanted those eyes.

But this matter was too serious, and it was obvious he could not make the decision alone.

”Do not worry. There is a companion at the Third Hokage’s place persuading him,” the Shadow Clone said with a smile, reading Danzo’s concern at a glance.

Danzo fell silent.

”If Sarutobi agrees, then I can agree as well. But the prerequisite is that the first person to receive those transplanted eyes...” Danzo hesitated for a moment before continuing.

”Of course. It will be you, Lord Fifth Hokage,” Kenichi’s Shadow Clone said smoothly, clearly understanding Danzo’s meaning.

Danzo felt a surge of delight.

He had even prepared a Hokage robe for the day he became Hokage.

Originally, he had prepared a Fourth Hokage robe and hat. But then Minato became Hokage, so he had to change it to Fifth. When Minato died, Danzo had nearly jumped with joy, but then the Third Hokage unexpectedly resumed office.

Even so, Danzo still kept hoping.

Then Tsunade returned to the village some time ago. After enduring for a long while and weighing the balance of power, he silently changed the robe to Sixth Hokage.

Still, if he could obtain some Mangekyo...

”Hmph. That old man is no Hokage,” Danzo snorted coldly.

Kenichi’s Shadow Clone could not help grumbling inwardly.

This old geezer. Who among Konoha’s upper ranks does not know what you are thinking? Who are you trying to fool?
