Chapter 110: Chapter 102: Medicinal Body Resonance

After leaving the workshop, Ron headed straight to the School Library.

The mention of the ”Bloodline Modifier” by the slave merchant yesterday had piqued his great interest, and with an assistant in the workshop, he finally had time for more in-depth research.

Perhaps this was the key to solving the dilemma of the Bloodline Activation Potion.

On the way, he happened to encounter Leia.

This mentor of Spiritual Stability Techniques seemed to have just walked out of the teaching area, with a trace of fatigue on her face, and was slightly surprised to see Ron.

”What a coincidence, Ron Apprentice.” She greeted him, ”Just as I ran into you, I wanted to inform you that Eric and I have arranged a special examination for you this week. I hope you prepare well.”

”Thank you for the arrangement, Lady Leia,” Ron replied politely and glanced at his Skill Bar:

[Current Progress: Magic Construction (Beginner 48/50)]

[Current Progress: Spiritual Interference (Beginner 45/50)]

He should be able to reach the Skilled Level before the weekly test, so he wouldn’t have to worry about passing:

”I’ve been practicing hard, hoping not to disappoint you.”

”Your performance has always been excellent.” Leia nodded slightly, ”Additionally, I’ve noticed that during recent classes, your shared insights haven’t resonated much with other apprentices. I need to remind you that true teaching is not just about displaying knowledge but igniting the spark of inspiration in others.”

Ron’s heart tightened as he earnestly contemplated these words.

He had indeed been trying to share his cultivation insights in class, hoping to gain more ”favors,” but with little success.

It seemed that gaining ”favors” was far more challenging than he had imagined, requiring inspiration and guidance for others to truly gain something, rather than simple knowledge transmission.

”I will keep your guidance in mind,” Ron sincerely said, ”I will try to understand other apprentices’ needs better, not just showcase what I have learned.”

After bidding farewell to Leia, he suddenly recalled a casual chat with Mira during the last class.

That slender female apprentice mentioned, while exchanging information with him, that Carl and the short, stout apprentice he encountered during course registration had taken on a commission from the Edge Forest and had been out of touch for several days. It now seemed likely they were doomed.

”Struggling to survive or dying quietly... the weak seemingly have only these two choices here.”

A sense of urgency surged in Ron’s heart: ”If I can’t keep getting stronger, one day I will end up the same way.”

Unconsciously, he quickened his pace.

......

The library remained plain and unadorned on the outside, but within it housed countless books.

The same old gray-robed guard manned the entrance, who was said to be on a monthly duty cycle. Upon seeing Ron, he nodded slightly, stepping aside to clear the way.

”What information are you looking for today?” the old guard asked, his tone friendlier than last time, though still retaining a certain vigilant demeanor.

”Knowledge about Bloodline Modulation and the habits of the Tree Spirit Race.”

Ron replied candidly, not hiding anything.

In this place, the pursuit of knowledge was not considered suspicious behavior as long as it didn’t involve forbidden realms.

The guard raised an eyebrow, his mustache twitching slightly, with a flash of surprise in his eyes, but he said nothing more, merely pointing towards the Guiding Stone:

”Start from the third slot of the Guiding Stone; it will lead you to the relevant materials. Remember, some knowledge about Bloodline Modulation might be restricted.”

Ron nodded in thanks and walked towards the dark brown crystal pillar at the center of the library.

He gently placed his palm on it, silently thinking the keyword: ”Bloodline Modulation.”

The runes on the surface of the crystal pillar lit up with a blue glow, after which a path of light points unfolded in the air, guiding him to a specific area.

Following the points of light, Ron arrived at an area shrouded in a pale blue light screen.

”Please verify your identity.” This line floated on the light screen.

Ron pressed his Alchemist Badge against the light screen, and after a moment, it flickered a few times before partially dissipating, revealing a gap wide enough for a person to pass through.

It seemed this was an area requiring special permissions for full access.

Passing through the light screen, Ron found that the bookshelves here were older than other areas, housing various exquisitely bound but ancient books.

Many books were even fastened with chains made of special materials, prohibiting readers from taking them off to read.

Before one bookshelf, Ron found several introductory materials about Bloodline Modulation.

Unfortunately, more in-depth knowledge was categorized as higher-level restrictions, inaccessible with his current permissions.

”Bloodline Modulation Basics,” ”Extraordinary Creatures Bloodline Overview,” ”Cross-Species Bloodline Transplantation Research”...

Ron took down a few books that appeared most valuable and sat at a nearby table to begin reading earnestly.

The content in ”Bloodline Modulation Basics” was a revelation:

”Bloodline Modulation, an ancient and mysterious craft, has its core in understanding and manipulating the essence of life. Unlike simple genetic modification, Bloodline Modulation involves altering the deepest energy imprints of life, which determine the basic traits and abilities of a creature...”

”...The earliest Bloodline Modulation can trace back to the end of the First Epoch’s Divine Era, allegedly founded by a Sea Witch named Isa Tear of Pearl.”

”She attempted to refine the bloodline within her, derived from an ancient River God, successfully separating pure life energy and preserving it in specially designed containers...”

Ron was deeply captivated by this content, almost forgetting the passage of time.

Bloodline Modulation was more complex than he imagined but also more systematized.

Especially the methods of extracting and preserving ”Bloodline Factors” gave him great inspiration.

”I see... it’s not just simple mixing, but first decomposing different bloodlines into fundamental ’Bloodline Factors’ and then recomposing them in specific proportions...”

[Extraordinary Biology (Beginner 1/50)]

Ron quickly noted down the key information in his notebook, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

Just as he was engrossed in study, a powerful wave of magic suddenly enveloped him, leaving him breathless.

Ron abruptly lifted his head and saw a white-robed figure standing by the bookshelf not far away, watching him with interest.

A delicate white mask covered the figure’s face, revealing only a pair of deep blue eyes.

Snow-like silver hair fell from both sides of her mask, and the snowy white robe subtly outlined a graceful figure, yet it didn’t evoke any amorous thoughts.

The whole person seemed like a ghost walking from the depths of the snowfield, carrying a cold, detached aura beyond the worldly.

It was Corina, Trish’s mentor, the white-robed Mage who had once taken him from the Kingdom to the Black Mist Jungle.

Seeing this former guide, Ron felt a chill spreading from his spine throughout his body.

He put the book back, instinctively stepped back half a step, then realized that such behavior might displease her.

Forced down the innate fear, Ron respectfully bowed, hoping not to draw her attention, then quietly left her sight.

However, Corina’s voice suddenly rang out the next moment:

”Apprentice, raise your head.”

The voice was raspy, like metal scraping, as if her vocal cords had suffered permanent damage.

Ron slowly lifted his face, facing the cold white mask, trying to maintain a calm expression.

”Oh... I remember you, you’re Ron Ralph, right?”

Corina’s voice seemed to come from multiple directions at once: ”I have some impression of you, you seemed to have been brought back to the School with Trish.”

”Yes, Master.” Ron could only answer respectfully.

Corina silently approached, her white robe billowing behind as if it had a life of its own.

”Interesting, the defective Sixth-class Star has now swiftly become a Professional Alchemist, and... an Intermediate Apprentice.”

Her voice carried a hint of obvious surprise:

”I remember during the Faruk Kingdom test, your spiritual power fluctuation was so weak it was almost nonexistent, I originally thought you would be the first to be eliminated from the batch of ’seeds’.”

Busted... the recent wave of magic had clearly detected that he had broken through to an Intermediate Apprentice.

Ron stood rigidly, unsure of how to respond.

The radiation field on the figure’s body stung his skin, every second felt like a century-long ordeal.

”Don’t be so nervous, child.”

Corina seemed to sense his fear, and her tone eased slightly:

”Back then, saying that the assessment period would lead to your brain being dissected as an experiment was just to scare you. Your brain structure at that time was overly ordinary, offering no value to my research.”

Ron felt a sense of relief but the mask emitted a soft laugh:

”However, now seeing your rapid breakthrough, I am starting to take a bit of interest in your brain structure.”

He felt a chill running from his head to his feet, his mind quickly contemplating strategies.

Should he continue pretending to be ordinary, admit he was indeed somewhat special, or just escape?

”Relax, this is just a joke, Trish always says I have an ill-timed sense of humor.”

Noticing Ron’s increased tension, the silver-haired witch chuckled softly:

”Lady Allen once helped me, how could I possibly do anything to you?”

Ron remained silent, uncertain of what to say to avoid further trouble.

”You seem to have little understanding of your own special talents, do you?”

Corina suddenly asked, her eyes behind the mask gazing directly at Ron, as if trying to see through his soul.

”Special talents?”

Ron repeated somewhat puzzled, he certainly had special talent, just unsure if it matched Corina’s reference.

”Interesting, your growth trajectory is too abnormal, initially I thought someone was guiding you from the shadows. But now it seems, you truly are unaware of what you possess.”

Corina nodded slightly, seeming to confirm something.

She turned around, pointing to an area deep within the library:

”You should go there and have a look. There is a book called ’Special Talent Collection,’ it might help you understand your uniqueness.”

With her words, a ray of light shot from her fingertip, landing on a light curtain not far away.

The curtain flickered slightly and seemed to become more transparent.

”I’ve unlocked the access for you. Understanding oneself is the most crucial lesson on an apprentice’s growth path.”

Corina’s voice carried a mysterious meaning: ”Looking forward to your growth, young Alchemist.”

After speaking, she vanished among the bookshelves like a ghost in the snow, leaving Ron standing alone, filled with confusion and unease.

He hesitated for a moment, ultimately deciding to follow Corina’s guidance to view the ’Special Talent Collection.’

Since he had already drawn her attention, there was no point in hiding, better to proactively learn more information.

Passing through the light curtain, at a central location, lay a particularly prominent large tome, its cover made of some kind of shimmering peculiar metal, etched with complex runes.

”Special Talent Brief Record...” Ron whispered the book title, his heartbeat accelerating uncontrollably.

He carefully opened the heavy tome, an ancient and mysterious aura pounced, as if it traversed a thousand years.

The first page was a brief foreword:

”Special Talent is the most precious gift on the Path of the Extraordinary. It doesn’t rely on bloodline, isn’t limited by race, and isn’t constrained by Akasha’s records, purely a chance turn in the wheel of fate, a miracle manifesting among endless possibilities...”

”...Special Talent is innate, no one can seize it. It binds to the deepest part of the soul, even if out of the body or soul snatched, the talent still belongs solely to the original holder...”
