Junior Sister, I Really Have to Control You

Chapter 66: Chapter 43: 10 Sword Lights, Actual Demon Hunting Combat

In front of the main hall of Xuanzhen Temple.

Mu Xiaoyu gripped the White Rainbow Sword, executed a Sword Technique, and concentrated as she thrust out her blade. Instantly, four streaks of Sword Light shot forth.

A hint of joy subconsciously appeared on her face. She had mastered the third streak of Sword Light three days ago, but the fourth had proven significantly more difficult. Under her senior brother’s strict supervision, she hadn’t found a single opportunity to slack off. Even so, it took bitter practice until today to finally master the fourth streak.

However, a moment later, her hands suddenly felt empty. The White Rainbow Sword transformed into a tiny streak of flowing light and flew toward Li Yinsheng, who swallowed it.

A faint light flashed in Li Yinsheng’s eyes.

”Senior Brother?”

Deprived of the White Rainbow Sword, Mu Xiaoyu was confused at first, but then a glimmer of hope rose within her. Previously, her senior brother would only retrieve the White Rainbow Sword to nourish it within his body after she had completed her daily sword practice. But today, she still had about two hours left before her practice was scheduled to end. She wondered if her senior brother was planning to give her a break, cutting her practice short by two hours.

Li Yinsheng had no idea what Junior Sister Mu was thinking. He was merely feeling the slight changes in the White Rainbow Sword within his body, secretly sighing. He had just recalled the White Rainbow Sword because his junior sister had mastered the fourth streak of Sword Light, triggering a reward. He needed to enter the Grotto Heaven to claim those two years of Cultivation. Furthermore, a Daoist could nourish their Magical Treasure at any time, which naturally included during cultivation. Therefore, before entering the Grotto Heaven, he had absorbed the White Rainbow Sword into his body, bringing it into the Grotto Heaven to nourish it as well.

Although a mere two years of Cultivation was no longer of much use given his current level—only slightly increasing his Magical Power and Qi Blood—he had nourished the White Rainbow Sword for less than ten days prior to claiming today’s reward. He figured two years’ worth of time would be quite beneficial to the White Rainbow Sword.

Then, he realized he had been overthinking it.

The two years of nourishment weren’t entirely useless to the White Rainbow Sword, but the changes were minimal. Its Spirituality had only become slightly more active. In the end, this was likely because the sword’s original body was severely damaged. Currently, the Spirituality of the White Rainbow Sword was still only at twenty or thirty percent of its peak. As his junior sister grew increasingly proficient in the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword, the sword’s effectiveness in guiding her would probably deteriorate.

Even if the White Rainbow Sword was fully repaired one day, its ability to guide his junior sister in cultivating the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword could never surpass Martial Uncle’s peak level from back then. But at the very least, both the efficiency and the upper limit would be vastly higher than they were now.

Just as Li Yinsheng was secretly sighing, Mu Xiaoyu spoke up.

”Senior Brother, can I practice for two hours less today?” she asked, her face full of expectation.

Li Yinsheng asked, ”Hmm? What makes you say that, Junior Sister?”

”You’ve already put the White Rainbow Sword away!” Mu Xiaoyu said righteously. ”Didn’t you always take the sword back only when it was time to rest?”

Li Yinsheng didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, realizing that was the reason. ”If you don’t want to practice the sword anymore today, Junior Sister, that’s fine too,” he said with a nod.

Joy washed over Mu Xiaoyu’s face.

”Then we’ll use the rest of the time for scripture lectures and classes,” Li Yinsheng said. ”Usually, I lecture on scriptures for half an hour, and you complete two exam papers afterward. Since we’ll be having a direct lecture for two and a half hours this time, let’s make it ten exam papers. What do you think, Junior Sister?”

”No, no, no! Senior Brother, I want to practice the sword! I want to practice the sword!” Mu Xiaoyu said hurriedly, her face filled with terror.

”Didn’t you want to stop practicing?” Li Yinsheng asked. ”Besides, the White Rainbow Sword will prick you.”

”Senior Brother, I was just joking earlier. Practicing the sword is actually my favorite thing to do!” Mu Xiaoyu insisted. Compared to the prickling White Rainbow Sword, studying scriptures and writing exam papers was far more terrifying.

”Are you speaking from the heart, Junior Sister?” Li Yinsheng asked.

”From the bottom of my heart!” Mu Xiaoyu nodded vigorously.

Li Yinsheng nodded. The White Rainbow Sword flew toward Mu Xiaoyu and landed back in her hands. Feeling as if she had escaped a calamity... or at least half a calamity, Mu Xiaoyu breathed a sigh of relief and prepared to continue practicing. ℯ

But Li Yinsheng stood up and said, ”Wait, Junior Sister. Don’t you find it a bit boring to just practice the sword like this?”

”It is a bit boring... No, it’s very boring!” Mu Xiaoyu thought about it and nodded repeatedly. She hoped that if her senior brother pitied her for being bored, he might let her practice less. Fearing that he might tell her to do exam questions instead, she quickly added, ”But studying scriptures and doing exam papers is even more boring!”

Li Yinsheng smiled. ”Since you find practicing alone boring, Junior Sister, I’ll be your sparring partner. Won’t it be less boring if someone is with you?”

Stretching lazily as a makeshift warm-up, Li Yinsheng walked toward Mu Xiaoyu.

The agreement on Mu Xiaoyu’s face instantly twisted into horror.

”There’s no need, no need at all!” She scrambled backward in a panic. ”Senior Brother, I’m not bored anymore! Practicing the sword is so interesting!”

”You still need a sparring partner,” Li Yinsheng said. ”A Sword Technique is meant for Magical Combat. How can you learn without practical experience?”

Although he didn’t have an abundance of practical experience himself, he had still accumulated some combat knowledge from occasional Magical Combat spars with other Cultivators, or from encountering Spirit Monsters while out searching for medicinal herbs. As for his junior sister... he planned to have her participate in the Shifeng Conference and fight for a chance. If she could actually secure a spot at Washing Sword Mountain, it would surely cause her progress in the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword to soar.

To participate in the Shifeng Conference, practical combat experience was absolutely essential. Now that his junior sister had manifested four streaks of Sword Light, she was ready to begin combat training.

”Senior Brother, you’ll go easy on me, right?” Mu Xiaoyu asked with a long face. Though she had never seen her senior brother fight with her own eyes, she had witnessed the miserable state of the people from Yellow Crane Temple firsthand.

”Naturally. It’s just a spar. Do you think I’d take the opportunity to bully you, Junior Sister?” Li Yinsheng shook his head and chuckled.
