Junior Sister, I Really Have to Control You

Chapter 62: Chapter 39: Precious Magical Treasure, Spirituality Awakening

The sun shone brightly high in the sky. Mu Xiaoyu practiced her swordplay in front of the main hall.

After she learned the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword, Li Yinsheng adjusted her cultivation schedule. Starting from the second level, the Qingxuan Scripture required cultivating Magical Power. She could no longer cultivate continuously from dawn to dusk as she did before. Going too far would be as bad as not going far enough. If any error occurred in the circulation of her Magical Power, the losses would outweigh the gains. Besides, her current Magical Power couldn’t sustain her practicing the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword for too long in one go.

Therefore, Li Yinsheng reallocated her daily cultivation time. After waking up in the morning, she would first warm up by practicing the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword. Once her Magical Power was nearly depleted, she would cultivate the Qingxuan Scripture, restoring her Magical Power while practicing her cultivation method. When her Magical Power was mostly restored, she would resume practicing the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword. This cycle repeated on and on.

After experiencing this new rhythm for two days, Mu Xiaoyu finally realized that practicing her cultivation method wasn’t actually the most exhausting thing in the world. Practicing the sword was! Especially when practicing swordplay, the depletion of her Magical Power brought about a deep sense of fatigue. This fatigue was completely different from physical exhaustion. The two kinds of weariness struck her simultaneously, torturing her twofold!

If her senior brother weren’t taking her to Baoguang Temple tomorrow to buy snacks again, she was sure she wouldn’t be able to persist. At the very least, she wouldn’t have been able to resist slacking off! But today, she truly didn’t dare slack off. What if her senior brother caught her and refused to take her shopping at Baoguang Temple tomorrow? The snacks in her Qiankun Bag had already bottomed out.

While Mu Xiaoyu gritted her teeth and persevered for the sake of tomorrow’s snacks, continuously condensing and unleashing Sword Light, Li Yinsheng sat cross-legged not far away with his eyes closed, circulating his energy. This time, however, his main Heart and Spirit were not on his Cultivation, but focused on nourishing the White Rainbow Sword in his Dantian.

In his Introspection, the miniature White Rainbow Sword, still covered in cracks, hovered in the center of his Dantian. It was simultaneously illuminated by the Qingxuan Divine Light and nourished by the Magical Power of the Qingxuan Scripture. Even though the White Rainbow Sword was his Martial Uncle’s Magical Treasure, with her permission, Li Yinsheng could absorb it into his body just as she did. Nourishing it this way yielded much better results. This was also one of the distinctions between a Magical Artifact and a Magical Treasure. A Magical Artifact could not be taken into the body; his Cold Bright Sword and Brass Incense Burner had always been kept in his Qiankun Bag.

As a lively stream of light flashed across the White Rainbow Sword, Li Yinsheng opened his eyes, which brightened as he opened his mouth and exhaled the miniature sword. The White Rainbow Sword spun in the air, transforming into a three-foot Long Sword. Although the cracks remained, its surface had fully regained its luster, no longer pale and dim like before. Laying the sword horizontally across his knees, he brushed his fingers over the cold yet warm blade. Feeling the response of the Spirituality within, Li Yinsheng nodded in satisfaction.

After two days of continuous nourishment, the Spirituality within the White Rainbow Sword had fully awakened. Although limited by the severe damage to the sword itself—meaning its Spirituality was only at twenty or thirty percent of its peak—it was definitely more than enough to guide his junior sister in her current sword practice. Moreover, if the physical damage to the White Rainbow Sword couldn’t be repaired, no amount of nourishment would allow its Spirituality to recover any further. It was just like a person suffering from severe injuries. No matter how much they rested their mind, as long as their physical wounds didn’t heal, their spirit could never fully recover.

Li Yinsheng had considered repairing the White Rainbow Sword and had asked his Martial Uncle about it, but she strictly refused. First, the damage to the White Rainbow Sword was far too severe. It was so bad that even she had no idea how to go about repairing it. Second, even if there were a way, the cost of repairing such a ruined Magical Treasure would likely exceed the cost of forging a new one.

Junior Martial Uncle Jiang had also said that a Magical Treasure was incredibly important to a Daoist. A Daoist with a Magical Treasure and a Daoist who only had a Magical Artifact were on completely different levels of strength. Even the worst Magical Treasure and an Upper Grade Magical Artifact were as different as clouds and mud. For those Daoists who didn’t yet have a Magical Treasure, their top priority was acquiring one of their own, even if it meant going to great lengths and exhausting all their wealth. After all, even an ordinary Magical Treasure was enough to drastically increase their strength and status.

Li Yinsheng himself still didn’t have a Magical Treasure. Rather than thinking about repairing the White Rainbow Sword, he should be urgently figuring out how to obtain a Magical Treasure of his own. At its peak, the White Rainbow Sword was considered a standout among Magical Treasures, but it was Junior Martial Uncle Jiang’s Lifebound Treasure. Even if Junior Martial Uncle Jiang gave the White Rainbow Sword to him, a Lifebound Treasure not in its master’s hands could at most unleash sixty or seventy percent of its might—perhaps not even fifty percent.

Faced with Junior Martial Uncle Jiang’s earnest admonitions, Li Yinsheng didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t exactly tell her that compared to how well the White Rainbow Sword could fight, he actually cared more about its ability to help his junior sister practice her Sword Technique. Of course, he didn’t turn a deaf ear to his Martial Uncle’s words. He knew well enough that he lacked both a Magical Treasure and a powerful, profound Magic. Although his Cultivation wasn’t bad among Daoists, his means of combat lagged far behind his Cultivation level. Not to mention anything else, just Meng’s Cyan Jade Chessboard that he had revealed before was a notch stronger than the two Upper Grade Magical Artifacts in Li Yinsheng’s hands. Furthermore, Meng was well-versed in Arrays. Disregarding Cultivation and looking only at combat methods, Li Yinsheng was probably inferior to Meng.

His only advantage was that he had a Minor in Refining Body, and Body Cultivators truly excelled in combat strength. However, after he mentioned this to his Martial Uncle, she had stared blankly for a long time. Once she snapped out of it, she sternly reminded him—a Body Cultivator also needed a handy weapon. It was extremely unwise to pit one’s Flesh Body head-on against a Magical Treasure. It wasn’t as if she had never fought a Body Cultivation Daoist before. No matter how strong the opponent’s Physique was, if they were stabbed head-on by a Magical Treasure like the White Rainbow Sword, they would still suffer heavy injuries. Naturally, she didn’t deny that if a Sword Cultivator took a punch from a Body Cultivator, they would be injured even more severely. But regardless, given similar Cultivation, a Body Cultivator with a handy weapon would certainly be stronger than one without.

Li Yinsheng also knew his methods were sorely lacking, but one must eat a meal one bite at a time. Whether it was exquisite Magic, a handy weapon, or a tyrannical Magical Treasure, none of them could be rushed right now. For one thing, just to forge his own Magical Treasure, he would first need to obtain a heaven-born, earth-raised treasure that naturally nurtured Spirituality to serve as the core of the Magical Treasure. Such a treasure could only be encountered by chance and not sought; it wasn’t something that could be bought just by having talismanic coins. And even if he did come across one, his meager spare change definitely wouldn’t be enough.

Shaking off these momentarily useless thoughts, Li Yinsheng looked at Mu Xiaoyu, who was practicing her swordplay, and waved her over. ”Junior Sister, come look at this.”

Mu Xiaoyu unleashed a streak of Sword Light, calmed her somewhat chaotic Magical Power caused by continuously casting magic, and looked in Li Yinsheng’s direction. Then, her gaze was instantly captivated by the White Rainbow Sword resting on his knees. Resembling beautiful jade, the White Rainbow Sword was truly magnificent under the sunlight. Born into a mortal Prince’s Mansion, Mu Xiaoyu had seen countless jewels and beautiful jades, yet no jade artifact could compare to the White Rainbow Sword, even with it being covered in cracks at this moment.

She quickly ran over, her flushed little face filled with awe and adoration. ”WOW! Such a beautiful sword!”

Sitting down in front of Li Yinsheng, she gently stroked the White Rainbow Sword with her fingertips. ”Senior Brother, is this a new Magical Artifact you bought? Mmm... Why are there so many cracks?”

”I didn’t buy it. It’s not a Magical Artifact. This is Junior Martial Uncle Jiang’s Magical Treasure, named the White Rainbow Sword,” Li Yinsheng said, rubbing her head with a smile.

”It’s Junior Martial Uncle Jiang’s!” Mu Xiaoyu continued to stroke the White Rainbow Sword, unable to bear parting with it, but she couldn’t help shrinking her neck. Even though it had been over a month since she joined the temple, she had only seen Junior Martial Uncle Jiang two or three times, and that was when Li Yinsheng took her to pay respects to the temple elders.

Her impression of Junior Martial Uncle Jiang was that she was a profoundly beautiful woman, albeit one who looked somewhat physically frail. Furthermore, even though this beautiful Martial Uncle was the prettiest woman she had ever seen, she was also truly terrifying. Every time she visited, Junior Martial Uncle Jiang would scrutinize her back and forth with a gaze that made her legs feel a bit weak. Even though she could sense there was no malice in Junior Martial Uncle Jiang’s eyes, that look always unconsciously reminded her of the private tutors who had taught her. Especially those extremely strict tutors whose palm-smackings hurt terribly. Therefore, Mu Xiaoyu was slightly afraid of Junior Martial Uncle Jiang.

”Do you like the White Rainbow Sword?” Li Yinsheng suddenly asked.

Still shrinking her neck, Mu Xiaoyu hesitated for a moment before nodding. ”I like it...” Even though Junior Martial Uncle Jiang was a bit scary, her sword was genuinely beautiful.

”Then from now on, use it when you practice the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword. You’ll progress much faster,” Li Yinsheng said with a smile.

”AH!” Mu Xiaoyu cried out in shock, shaking her head repeatedly. ”No, no, this is Junior Martial Uncle Jiang’s sword!” She still remembered the time she sneaked out wearing her mother’s hairpin to play and ended up being severely punished. Junior Martial Uncle Jiang was even scarier than her mother!

”Junior Martial Uncle Jiang lent it to you,” Li Yinsheng explained. ”The sword possesses Spirituality. When you practice the Yin Yang Light-Splitting Sword, it will guide you to adjust your Magical Power circulation and correct your mistakes.”

”Junior Martial Uncle Jiang lent it to me?” Mu Xiaoyu’s fondness for Junior Martial Uncle Jiang instantly soared. ”She really is a good person!”

”So don’t let down our Martial Uncle’s good intentions,” Li Yinsheng said, handing the White Rainbow Sword to Mu Xiaoyu. ”After you finish practicing, give it back to me. It still needs daily nourishment.”

”Mmhmm!” Mu Xiaoyu nodded vigorously and took the White Rainbow Sword.
