Radiant Dragon’s Otherworldly Reincarnation

Chapter 128. It Is Called Failure! (2)

The final match of the 4th round.

The two people who would compete in that match stepped into the arena..

“Patrick Schneider, forward!”

“Riman Ciera, forward!”

At the referee’s call, the attention of the audience was focused on the two people who stepped up.

Patrick, who had stepped into the arena, looked at his opponent and smirked.

“You look more like you’d be pushing a pen than swinging a sword.”

“I do hear that from time to time.”

The man who coolly pushed up his glasses and stared at Patrick with intelligent eyes.

It was Riman Ciera, the last remaining representative from the Tower of Truth.

Certainly, as Patrick said, his appearance alone did not make him look like a swordsman.

A slender frame and intelligent features.

And the glasses he wore on his face.

No matter how you looked at it, he had the face of a scholar.

But….

“But you seem to have trained diligently, haven’t you? Are you around 5-star?”

Patrick accurately saw through his opponent’s level.

At that, Riman calmly said.

“That is correct.”

“Ooooh, you’re not surprised.”

“There is nothing to be surprised about. It is a logically natural thing, isn’t it?”

“Huh? Logically?”

“That is correct. Looking at the previous matches, you have proven that you are above me in terms of sword level.”

“Hoo, you admit it well.”

“I am not so illogical as to deny reality for the sake of pride. Looking at the sword alone, you are stronger than me.”

“Yeah. That’s right.”

“If that is you, then it is natural for you to grasp my level. It is something that can be sufficiently known by thinking logically.”

“You’re really obsessed with the word ‘logic’.”

“Is that bad?”

“It’s not bad, but… well, whatever. There are occasional oddballs like you.”

The Jaegal Clan kids were like that in his past life.

Why did kids who swung swords talk so much and use their heads so much?

They were people Patrick could never understand.

“Logically, you have no chance of winning. I have already prepared a surefire strategy.”

“Oh, is that so?”

“But before that, I hope you will show all of your skills. Your unique swordsmanship is also of interest to the mages of our Tower of Truth.”

“What a coincidence. I’m also very interested in magic.”

“In that case….”

“Ah, but let’s have the match first. The audience is getting bored.”

As Patrick said, the audience was starting to boo, as if they couldn’t wait any longer.

“A logically valid argument.”

“It really is an obsession.”

The two contestants returned to their positions, and the referee soon shouted the signal to start.

“Begin!”

At that, Riman Ciera shouted first.

“Mers!”

At that, the shoes he was wearing changed, and small wing-like things appeared on both of his ankles.

And in that state, Riman Ciera flew up into the sky.

“Hoo… so it’s not all about shooting fire or ice, is it?”

Patrick watched the scene with fascination.

And Riman, floating in the air, raised his glasses with one hand and said.

“From this moment on, your chance of winning has disappeared. Patrick Schneider?”

“Huh? Why?”

“I will show you now. Ignil. Ragios.”

Riman added two more Soul Weapons.

At that, red gauntlets and light green gauntlets were added to both of his arms.

At the same time, the energy of flames and wind rippled around him.

In that state, he drew his sword.

“Go!”

And a spear of flame and a blade of wind poured down to the ground.

“Coming in flashy.”

Patrick clad his twin swords in aura and struck away the enemy’s attacks flying towards him.

Boom! Baaam! Boom boom boom!

With a spectacular explosion, a barrage of attacks with enough firepower to seemingly devastate the area where Patrick was concentrated.

“Wooooow….”

“Is he trying to kill him?”

“No, it looks like he’s holding on.”

“To withstand that….”

The audience stared at this unbelievable scene with their mouths agape.

Neither Riman, who was pouring out such firepower, nor Patrick, who was withstanding those attacks, seemed human.

Kwaaaang!

“Is this all you’ve got? It’s not as much as I thought.”

Patrick, who had deflected all of his opponent’s attacks.

Riman, floating in the sky, pushed up his glasses again and said.

“As expected, you’re holding on. I expected this much.”

“So?”

“But how long can you last?”

As Riman aimed his sword again, the same flames and wind as before swirled around his body.

In that state, Riman spoke to Patrick.

“Unless you are at the 7-star level, you cannot project your aura. In other words, you have no means of attacking me in the sky.”

“……”

“On the other hand, I can attack you indefinitely. In other words, you, who logically have no means of attack, cannot defeat me.”

Riman said with a faint smile on his lips.

“The only chance of victory you had was to attack me as soon as the match started and prevent me from flying into the sky. Since you failed to do that, you have no chance of winning. This is what is called a logical tactic.”

“…Did you say your name was Riman Ciera?”

“That is correct.”

“Are you by any chance Riman Jaegal?”

“……?”

“Every single word you say is so irritating, it’s just like them.”

At Patrick’s words, Riman Ciera pushed up his glasses with his finger and said.

“Childish provocations only work on irrational humans.”

“Yeah, yeah. Is that so? It doesn’t work, huh?”

“…Turan, Aria.”

Riman activated two more Soul Weapons.

He had mobilized all five of his Soul Weapons.

At that sight, Patrick clicked his tongue and said.

“Didn’t you say provocations don’t work?”

“It is merely a logical choice to see a quick end to the match. Now die!”

Although his words and actions were a bit inconsistent, a much more powerful attack than before flew at him.

A blade of wind, a spear of flame, a spear of water.

And then….

“Ut!?”

Suddenly, the ground changed, and a sharp stone pillar shot up, causing Patrick to dodge.

It seemed he had activated Soul Weapons with the properties of water and earth, in addition to fire and wind.

Attacks pouring down from the sky, plus attacks shooting up from under his feet.

‘This guy is quite something, more than I thought.’

His way of speaking was irritating, but his skills were real.

As Patrick frantically dodged the attacks, he was reminded of the time he fought against an assassination group called the Black Night Gate in his past life.

It was the memory of fighting against dozens of first-class assassins for two whole days and annihilating them.

At that time, his level was still clumsy, so he had struggled quite a bit.

But he had never thought he would be reminded of that time while fighting against just one person.

“Give up. It is only a matter of time. There is no logic for you to create a victory.”

Seeing Riman, who was pushing up his glasses from the sky and speaking, Patrick thought.

‘I take back the ‘quite something’ part.’

At this point, it seemed he wouldn’t be satisfied unless he made that irritating face flinch in horror.

“In your logic… there is one… flaw…. Let me speak too, you bastard!”

To Patrick, who was frantically dodging attacks, Riman smiled and aimed his sword again.

“Not necessary.”

And his attacks, which had by now surrounded him from all sides, simultaneously descended on Patrick.

Kwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang!

A huge explosion.

It was such a huge explosion that the spectators outside the arena turned their gazes away.

“Patrick!”

“Hey, you bastardddd!”

His companions were horrified by the huge explosion.

No matter how much of a monster Patrick was, against that monstrous attack….

“Cough cough… What? I’m busy, why are you calling?”

He was fine.

Patrick, who was revealed as the smoke cleared, was coughing a bit from the smoke, but other than that, he was perfectly fine.

His companions were dumbfounded at the sight of him without a single strand of hair singed.

“Is he human?”

“He blocked all of that? That?”

“As expected, the most useless thing in the world was worrying about that demon.”

At his companions’ words, Patrick pouted his lips and said.

“I’ll see you guys later.”

For now, he had to take care of that irritating guy above his head first.

“Truly quite something. However….”

Countless flames, ice, and wind gathered again by Riman’s side.

“Don’t you get tired?”

“Soul Weapons are used with the user’s mental power and magic power. Of course, there is a limit.”

“Hoo, how much more can you use?”

“I can continue to emit the same firepower as now for another five hours.”

“Uh oh… that’s a bit long, isn’t it?”

“The most excellent point of a Magic Swordsman is that the output-to-consumption ratio is better than that of a knight or a Paladin. Did you not know?”

“I know now.”

“I will say it again, for you….”

“Logically, there is no chance of victory.”

“……”

“You were going to say that, right?”

Patrick even mimicked the hand gesture of pushing up glasses with his bare face as he spoke.

And Riman….

“…Die!”

“This bastard is surprisingly hot-headed.”

Attacks pouring down again.

Patrick thought as he dodged.

In fact, he had intended to watch and see how long he could maintain this level of destructive power.

But….

‘Five hours is too long.’

He could certainly endure it if he had to.

But he didn’t want to continue this boring exchange.

In that case….

‘I’ll give you a surprise.’

A playful smile formed on Patrick’s lips.

“Illogical. This is why ignorant swordsmen are….”

Riman frowned as he looked at Patrick, who was diligently moving under his feet and dodging attacks.

He had taken the trouble to explain with words during the fight.

That there was no logical chance of victory.

But his opponent could not let go of his lingering attachment and continued to struggle meaninglessly.

How foolish and illogical was this?

What that swordsman named Patrick was doing right now was just the height of barbarism, wasting time, stamina, and life.

In this situation, there was only one attack that person could take.

‘But that is meaningless as long as I prepare thoroughly.’

Just as Riman was thinking that, Patrick, while dodging an attack, threw his sword into the sky with all his might.

“Take this!”

Two swords imbued with aura flew in a straight line towards Riman.

‘As expected, he’s coming like that.’

The momentum of the flying swords was very fierce, but Riman was not flustered at all.

He had previously seen a contestant from the same country as that Patrick throw his sword and struggle ugly.

Naturally, he had prepared for this situation as well.

This kind of unexpected, unconventional attack that deviated from the existing methods….

‘I just have to dodge it.’

Riman used his flight ability to move his body to the side.

The sword Patrick threw was imbued with an unusual amount of power, but if it missed, it was meaningless.

No, it was rather a negative factor.

“Now, you are bare-handed. How will you fight? Having lost your only means of attack and continuing to struggle… what are you doing?”

Riman frowned.

It was because Patrick was doing something strange.

The sight of him extending his hand to the sky, as if holding the sword that had flown into the air, was truly incomprehensible to Riman.

But then….

“Eat this!”

Patrick spread his hands wide, and at that, the two swords that were flying high into the sky flexibly changed their trajectory to the left and right and flew towards Riman again.

“Huk!”

Riman was startled.

He hurriedly tried to dodge the two swords flying towards him, but….

“It’s useless!”

The two swords, as if connected to Patrick’s hands, flew freely and pursued him.

“Keuk… Aria, Ragios!”

Realizing he couldn’t dodge, Riman hurriedly surrounded himself with a defensive barrier of water and wind to block the swords flying towards him.

Kwaaaang!

The twin swords imbued with aura spectacularly exploded against the defensive barrier made of water and wind.

At that sight, Patrick clenched his fist and said.

“How about that? This is called Sword Control Art, you logical bastard.”
