Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 60: Chapter 60: Management Bureau of Anomalous Phenomena

Looking at Zhao Yan and the masked man lying on the ground, and at the few aides who couldn’t help but step back as he approached, Wu Chang knew he had achieved his goal.

He initially didn’t plan to join the Management Bureau, so he submitted a D-Level rating in the preliminary record.

But now that he’s joined, he must salvage his reputation.

Even if the Management Bureau is friendly to newcomers, and he has Meng Yawen’s backing, making him half a connected insider, under the Abyssal Game, the basic tone within the organization is still survival of the fittest.

The weak are meant to be brutally bullied by the strong.

Submitting an outrageously weak rating record will inevitably attract many people’s targeting.

Whether they dislike him or all weaker individuals, they couldn’t resist a few kicks to him openly or secretly.

To avoid these troubles, it’s too late to change the rating record.

He can only use another method, so those trying to step on him can’t succeed.

He remembers a joke:

Ever since I turned into a pile of excrement, no one dared to step on my head anymore.

What he’s doing now is becoming a pile of excrement.

The power of Mamba Iron Elbow is weak, but its control ability is difficult to evade even for instructors, with a long control time and disgusting control effect.

Once this information spreads, everyone wanting to trouble him will have to weigh it carefully.

After all, bullying him, a D-Level level 7 newbie, even if successful, yields no real benefit.

But if someone gets an elbow from him and becomes the laughingstock in public, then the fun would be great.

After weighing the pros and cons, in some people’s minds, he will become a pile of excrement they dislike but dare not step on.

Wu Chang glanced at Zhao Yan on the ring, showing an apologetic look.

It’s just that Instructor Zhao has to suffer.

On the ring, Zhao Yan took a long time to accept the reality of losing a spar to a newcomer.

Thinking about how he’ll be a topic of conversation for a long time, he feels a headache.

But soon he becomes relieved.

Currently, when mentioning Wanghai City, the first thought is the sub-bureau chief live streaming his streaking, and no one cares about him losing to a newcomer in a spar.

Thinking of this, he can’t help but thank the bureau chief, and thank the mysterious newcomer who made the chief streak.

Hey, these days, is the word ”newcomer” toxic?

Revitalized, Zhao Yan sprang up like a carp from the ring, continuing to complete the unfinished parts of the job entry registration.

He took a few people to the Management Bureau’s server, entered their information into the system, and then said:

”Now open the attribute panel, and in the social section, you can see a small program called Management Bureau.”

Wu Chang couldn’t help but ask, ”Is the Abyssal Game so intelligent that it allows players to write their own small programs?”

Zhao Yan said with slight pride, ”This is different from the small programs in mobile apps; it represents management authority of the Desolate Realm.”

”Only organizations that raid enough instance dungeons and complete special team trials can obtain temporary admin privileges, allowing control within the Abyssal Game.”

”There are only four organizations with temporary admin privileges in the Desolate Realm.”

Regarding temporary admin privileges, Wu Chang heard it for the first time.

Previously, when he looked at forum discussions about the Moonlight Sanatorium, someone said the Management Bureau sealed the instance entrance and exit, and he was puzzled about how they did it.

Now it seems it should be the result of temporary admin privileges.

But a question followed, and he couldn’t help but ask:

”Are there no administrators within the Abyssal Game? Why allocate management privileges?”

His Talent Description showed the administrator explicitly suspected him of using cheats, indicating the game should have administrators.

If there are administrators, there’s no reason to allocate management privileges.

Zhao Yan shook his head and said:

”I don’t know the specifics, but I once heard a big shot in the bureau mention that he compared the Abyssal Game to a self-driving car, where the auto-pilot system only ensures forward movement, without doing much interference in managing inside, i.e., in the Abyssal Game.”

”Off topic—Abyssal Game administrators are too distant from us, better focus on the task at hand.”

Zhao Yan brought the topic back and continued:

”Open the Management Bureau small program, and you can see your position, level, contribution, task board, and benefits within the Management Bureau.”

”The task board interface will frequently update the bureau’s bounty tasks; all posted bounties are verified by administrators, and the payments are at least 90% of the market price, so you don’t have to worry about getting a bad deal from public bounties, and completing them also earns contribution value.”

After briefly going through a few bounties with the group, Zhao Yan exited the task board, and brought everyone to the benefits interface.

The first item listed in the benefits interface is ’Instance Information Overview’.

Zhao Yan emphasized: ”Instance Information Overview contains real-time updates on instance information and recommends related info based on your level. Although key intelligence requires additional payment, for newcomers like you, the free portion is sufficient.”

Wu Chang opened the dungeon intelligence overview, declined the mini program’s request to ”synchronize in-game attribute panel,” and input level 10 in the custom level field.

After a brief loading, real-time intelligence suitable for level 10 players appeared on the interface.

”Player Level 10, the probability of matching dungeon difficulty is: F-Level: 10%; E-Level: 60%; D-Level: 25%; C-Level: 5%; B-Level: 0.01%.”

”Players are advised to pay close attention to D-Level dungeons, open the tactical board, and based on current abilities, formulate suitable clearance plans.”

”User data not synchronized detected, input player attributes and skills, generate a virtual player attribute card, which can help users customize exclusive data and formulate exclusive clearance plans.”

Wu Chang ignored the virtual player attribute card, declined the activation of the smart push feature, and instead directly looked at the general content pushed to level 10 players.

The dungeons matched for players have a lot to do with the area they are located in the real world.

Being in Xia Country, players are most likely to enter dungeons under the authority of the Management Bureau, such as the Moonlight Sanatorium.

Players have a smaller chance of entering public areas, such as Sui Sui Ping An.

These areas are the most complicated, as no factions take responsibility.

There is a very small chance of entering areas managed by other factions. If the entry happens to be a multiplayer dungeon, facing other players of different skin colors and nationalities, there will be a lot of trouble on the way to pass through.

The information pushed by the Management Bureau’s mini program mostly pertains to dungeons under its authority.

Content format references the ranking list of public areas, divided into Dungeon Danger List, Special Attention List, and Bounty List.

For dungeons under the Management Bureau’s authority, once the dungeon’s pollution exceeds the safe value, the Management Bureau will handle it immediately, rarely reaching a nearly out-of-control level.

For example, the first on the D-Level Danger List is called Horror Tunnel, with a dungeon pollution level that is only dangerous.

The first on the C-Level Danger List is called Midnight Bus, although the dungeon pollution level is close to out-of-control, but the dungeon status shows ”Blocked, in process.”

If nothing unexpected happens, the Management Bureau has already arranged suitable Breakers to handle it.

It’s worth noting that in the C-Level Special Attention List, there’s a dungeon called Peaceful Town. The dungeon status is only dangerous, yet the title is marked in color.

The note shows that this is a newly appeared dungeon with extremely high difficulty, and several players have recently failed to conquer it.

Wu Chang just skimmed through the C-Level dungeons; given the Abyssal Game’s level of targeting him, at level 8 he was matched with an out-of-control C-Level dungeon, now he’s at level 10, how could it easily let him go.

For other level 10 players, the probability of entering B-Level dungeons is 0.01%, for him, having a 50% chance means the Abyssal Game acted like a human once.

Therefore, his focus is mainly on the B-Level dungeons.

Unfortunately, when it reaches C-Level and B-Level dungeons, the content visible in the free part is particularly limited.

The game files are like answer sheets filled with scribbles; only the titles can be seen, while truly meaningful answers are covered with black boxes.

Want to see the answers beneath the black boxes?

Pay up!

The unlocking cost for each piece of information ranges from 1000 to 100,000 Rotten Silver Coins, especially those involving safety points and life-saving intelligence, which are ridiculously expensive.

Moreover, in each dungeon, there are at least fourteen to fifteen encrypted pieces of information.

If all intelligence were purchased, even if perfect clearance could be achieved, the proceeds might not necessarily break even.

Emphasizing that intelligence is money.

Zhao Yan led everyone through a simple familiarization with the mini program’s usage, then headed towards the club’s interior, waving for everyone to follow.

He led a few people into the elevator, pressed the button to the third basement level, and said:

”Among you, many have expressed disappointment with the Management Bureau’s building, thinking it is not as special as expected.”

”In reality, the Management Bureau is just a workplace; no matter how special it is in reality, can it compare with the Abyssal Game?”

Ding.

As the elevator stopped, everyone walked out and found themselves directly in the Crimson Courtyard.

Wu Chang looked around in surprise; his Inspiration Value told him that the surroundings were genuine Crimson Courtyard, not just a likeness.

During the elevator ride, he did not use consciousness to connect to the Abyssal Game, and the player’s pass on the attribute panel had no change.

This showed they did not enter the Crimson Courtyard through their player identity but were directly led there via the real-world underground of the Management Bureau!

The position where they appeared was a massive plaza. Looking around, the surroundings were filled with futuristic buildings and research institutes, and in the distance, one could see gigantic factories with a steampunk style.

Wu Chang looked further away, his gaze passed through the neon lights emitted by buildings, the white steam discharged by factories, and the energy ripples emitted from the tops of research institutes, faintly seeing a gigantic Red Divine Hall.

Its architectural style was complex, resembling a Taoist temple, yet also like a Buddhist temple, with hints of immortal palaces in poetry and painting works.

Numerous fiber optic-like lines hung down from the sky, connecting to the top of the Red Divine Hall, akin to a galaxy of data pouring into the human realm.

For every dungeon generated within the Management Bureau’s control, a line would dangle down the sky, and for every dungeon breakthrough, a line would snap.

The Red Divine Hall was the embodiment of the Management Bureau’s temporary management authority over the Abyssal Game.

The Management Bureau calls it — Hongmeng.

Zhao Yan, quite satisfied with the look of shock on everyone’s faces, boasted, ”Welcome to the real Management Bureau!”

”Now, it’s time to receive your newbie welcome package for joining.”
