Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 59: Chapter 59: Bang!

Zhao Yan laughed at Wu Chang’s provocation. Him, an eighteen-level specialized combat veteran player, wounded by a newbie rated only D- at level 7 in a non-combat class?

He had interacted with Wu Chang before and could sense Wu Chang wasn’t the kind of person lost in anime-like fantasies, thinking he’d automatically become the protagonist with the world revolving around him after acquiring extraordinary abilities.

Quite the opposite, Wu Chang, despite having a somewhat unorthodox mindset, wasn’t arrogant. He recognized his true abilities and didn’t ridicule others lightly.

But not ridiculing someone is the biggest ridicule.

It showed that in Wu Chang’s heart, he truly believed he could injure him.

Who do you think you are, some mysterious newbie making the world scramble upon your debut?

If it weren’t for the boss supporting you, I’d have to teach you a lesson today.

Zhao Yan showed off his instructor’s expression management skills, smiling as he said:

”Don’t be afraid, just hit me, if you injure me, I’ll take the blame. Not only won’t I ask you for any medical fees, but if you manage to hit me, I’ll buy you a drink once we’re in the Abyssal Game.”

Wu Chang scratched his head, ”It’s not really polite.”

Zhao Yan took two deep breaths, calming his desire to go berserk, looked at Wu Chang with a salesman-like professional smile, ”Just hit me first and we’ll see.”

He had already decided that for Wu Chang to progress further in the Abyssal Game, he’d have to get serious, make him understand that against absolute power, trickery won’t work.

Even though it might embarrass him, as long as it helps him change his flawed ways of clearing levels, the boss should feel quite relieved.

Wu Chang approached the ring, doing warm-up exercises like those done before a sports class, stretching his legs, expanding his chest, rotating his body, and flexing his wrists and ankles.

As if he was about to face not a fight but a match.

If certain groups saw him, they’d certainly exclaim loudly, ”Oh! The damn relaxation!”

After finishing his warm-up, Wu Chang turned to Zhao Yan, ”Can we start now?”

Zhao Yan shrugged and said, ”Whenever you’re ready...”

Before he finished talking, Wu Chang moved his feet and began running towards him.

From the speed of his movement, his agility was about 15, decent for a balanced player but not ideal for someone specializing in combat.

His steps were shaky, his technique straightforward, only able to charge directly with no room for evasive maneuvers.

With such an attack, he thought he could injure him?

To Zhao Yan, Wu Chang’s movements were full of flaws, slow-motion-like.

If he wanted, he could even stretch leisurely before circling to Wu Chang’s side and landing a low whipping kick.

What’s the best way to win?

Before Zhao Yan could think of a suitable way to win, he saw Wu Chang change his tactic.

Wu Chang astonishingly leaped into the air three meters away, raising his elbow high, aiming for his face.

”Man!”

Zhao Yan was startled by the shout, the kid’s movements were absurd, the fighting style was clumsy, but the voice was indeed loud and clear.

Very spirited!

Except the kid seems to underestimate people, hurling an elbow strike from three meters away like he’s striking a dead man?

With such an attack, he only needed to step back half a step for the elbow to brush past his nose tip, missing completely.

He wouldn’t even need to lift a finger, just keep his hands in his pockets and with a shrug, send the kid flying out of the ring.

As a veteran specialized combat player, the fight was going exactly as Zhao Yan anticipated.

He gently stepped back half a step, watching Wu Chang’s downward elbow slice past his nose tip.

He was ready to shoulder-toss, but suddenly Wu Chang’s body shifted unexpectedly, appearing at the spot perfect for exerting force, elbowing him in the face.

The elbow wasn’t very damaging but was extremely humiliating.

Zhao Yan only felt his vision go dark, a mysterious dizziness rising in his head, then his legs went weak as he staggered back two steps, sitting down heavily.

A warm flow trickled from his nose, he wiped it with the back of his hand, it was nosebleed.

No, what happened, what just occurred.

How did he manage to elbow me?

How did I end up sitting?

Not only was Zhao Yan confused by the elbow strike, but the assistants watching below were also perplexed.

From their perspective, Zhao Yan’s half-step retreat seemed like he intentionally sought Wu Chang’s elbow with his face.

Even more puzzling was how far nastier attacks than the flying elbow had been easily negated by the instructor, blocked perfectly.

Why was he nosebleeding and sitting from an ordinary elbow hit?

Was the instructor going easy on him?

Who is this guy in the ring that makes the instructor sacrifice his image to boost him?

Zhao Yan clutched the ropes at the ring’s edge and stood up. At this moment, he realized this flying elbow was Wu Chang’s so-called control skill.

In surveillance videos, Wu Chang took down Bloodthorn similar to this with an elbow.

Initially, they wondered, with such a bland elbow, how did Bloodthorn fail to dodge?

He assumed Bloodthorn was in poor status, letting Wu Chang catch a lucky break.

Facing it firsthand now, he found the elbow indeed held substance.

Besides being difficult to dodge, the attached control effect was strangely long-lasting, even a half-minute later he could still feel a bit dizzy, his vision occasionally blacking out.

Sadly, the damage was too low, so the skill would only serve as a control skill.

Zhao Yan wiped off the bloodstains from his hand, saying:

”I was careless earlier, didn’t dodge. That doesn’t count, let’s go again.”

Wu Chang said apologetically, ”Instructor, let’s not. I mentioned my skills aren’t cut out for sparring, they strain relationships.”

”You begin, this time I’m prepared, you are...”

Before Zhao Yan finished speaking, Wu Chang had already leaped up, elbow coming his way.

Damn, this little bastard talks about straining relationships but has zero hesitation in initiating attacks, repeatedly ambushing him before he finishes speaking.

But this time, he’d prepared himself, wouldn’t allow arrogance.

Since its founding, no instructor at Wanghai City Management Bureau has been bested by a newbie.

He absolutely couldn’t be the first!

He considered future studies in the province or aiding other branches, with people whispering behind his back every time, ”He’s the instructor who got beaten by a level 7 assistant.”

Thinking this made him shiver uncontrollably.

That mustn’t happen!

His gaze became resolute, he steeled himself: Would dodge!

”Man!”

The powerful shout rang out again.

This time, Zhao Yan utilized his agility at a high level of 40, transforming into an afterimage, circling to Wu Chang’s side.

To be safe, he crossed his arms in front, assuming a defensive stance, pushing forward in an attempt to shove Wu Chang out of the ring.

But before he could reach Wu Chang, Wu Chang’s body defied inertia, changing direction mid-air forcefully.

Simultaneously, Wu Chang utilized flexibility beyond ordinary people, twisting around to unleash an unexpected return strike, threading through his crossed defense arms, elbowing him in the face.

Once again, unable to resist, he staggered back a few steps and sat on the ground.

The second elbow hit caused his briefly stifled nosebleed to gush forth, simultaneously causing temporary blindness lasting half a minute.

When he recovered from the dizziness and blindness, Wu Chang had already left the ring, denying him the chance for a rematch.

Defeated.

Seeing the instructor dazedly sitting on the ring, an assistant always keeping his mask on furrowed his brows, unsure if the instructor was easing up.

Mask Man, chosen by Zhao Yan as the first to spar on the ring, indicated his combat skills were the strongest among them. He was deeply confident in his fighting capabilities, believing that even against level ten players, defeat wouldn’t necessarily come.

Mask Man found Wu Chang and cautiously asked, ”I’m a bit curious about your skills, could we spar?”

Wu Chang displayed his usual hesitance, ”That wouldn’t be proper.”

”No worries, it’s friendly sparring, not hurt...”

”Man!”

Bang!

A swift, precise, and powerful elbow strike landed heavily on Mask Man’s face, pushing his body backward so he fell straight to the ground.

Mask Man triggered dizziness, weakness, and poison, lying there unable to move, his limbs slightly convulsing.

Wu Chang turned to his other colleagues with an innocent face, ”I told you, my skills aren’t suitable for sparring.”
