Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Unstoppable Prowess

Chi Yuan’s Daoist Technique interacted with the clouds long accumulating over Huai Valley Village.

With the blessing of the times, countless lightning bolts instantly filled Huai Valley Village, the thunderous force immense, as if endless.

It seemed like the awe-inspiring might of the heavens, irresistible, but in reality, most of the lightning was part of the atmosphere, slicing through the sky without touching the ground.

After all, if Chi Yuan could really command so much lightning, he wouldn’t be staying in a C-Level instance.

Though dubbed as Summoning a Thousand Thunders, it was actually just a sequence of lightning strikes descending in turn.

But even so, it made Wu Chang understand the power of the universe.

Before Chi Yuan used Summoning a Thousand Thunders, Wu Chang was not very wary of Chi Yuan’s Thunder Technique.

He was wearing Earth Lizard Hide Armor worth 6000 Rotten Silver Coins, and just as the name implies, the attribute of the Earth Lizard is earth, naturally possessing extremely high thunder attribute resistance.

Plus, standing on the ground, he activated the Item Skill Thick Hide, further increasing elemental resistance.

A Palm Thunder that could instantly kill a Fog Demon hit him, and it was uncertain whether it could even break through his defense.

He was already prepared to proudly say after winning: Attribute wins, kid!

But as the first Celestial Thunder struck down, it almost shocked his soul out of his body.

Though lightning is intangible, when it hit him, it felt like someone rammed him with a dump truck.

With a booming sound, his entire body fell into numbness, flesh and spirit seemingly separated, temporarily severing his control over his body.

After a brief numbness came indescribable searing pain and unbearable stinging.

He thought of the lamb leg he had roasted earlier.

Not that his current scent resembled that time, but he felt like a leg of lamb being roasted.

The part struck by the lightning felt as if being roasted by raging flames, the stinging from the current like an enormous iron skewer piercing through his body.

The pain Wu Chang was enduring was enough to cause an ordinary person to faint, but with his 64 points of will, the pain instead made his mind clearer.

He quickly checked his status.

The first lightning strike not only halved the durability of his Earth Lizard Hide Armor but also pierced through it, taking away thirty percent of his life value.

At this moment, he was incredibly thankful he trusted the strategy and spent all his Rotten Silver Coins before entering the instance to purchase the Earth Lizard Hide Armor, known as the new adventurer’s guardian.

Without the Earth Lizard Hide Armor, the damage from that lightning would have been enough to instantly kill him.

The pain stimulated adrenaline secretion, making him particularly excited and ferocious. Normally, with his cautious style, he would have first avoided the lightning attack, found a way to hang on and made plans once safe.

But under the pressure of life and death, he had no thought of fleeing, only the determination to fight desperately.

One’s destiny is safest in one’s own hands.

He didn’t know how many more lightning strikes would fall, rather than hoping Chi Yuan would run out of energy, it was better to directly eliminate Chi Yuan and forcibly terminate his skills.

Even if he died, he would make Chi Yuan go first!

Taking advantage of the brief pause before the second bolt of lightning fell, he took out a bottle of Healing Type I and quickly took a sip.

Healing Type I worked fast, instantly replenishing his depleted life value.

Slumping on the ground, he didn’t bother to stand up, crawling towards Chi Yuan with both hands and feet.

At that moment, his eyes were bulging, teeth clenched tight, face fierce, like a beast in the throes of its last struggle.

The second lightning strike descended.

The second bolt was even thicker than the first.

The lightning instantly pierced through the Earth Lizard Hide Armor, directly striking Wu Chang.

The tremendous power slammed his body to the ground, then bounced him up in convulsions.

There was one bad news and two good news.

The bad news was, his Earth Lizard Hide Armor’s durability was completely exhausted, becoming irreparably ”damaged.”

Rotten Silver Coins vaporized instantly.

Besides that, his life value plummeted by eighty percent, half of his body roasted to medium-rare.

In his current state, forget Liu Shan and Liu Wei, any formidable hunter could easily take him out.

The good news was, the pain from the first bolt was so intense that it gave him resistance, reducing the pain from the second bolt.

The second piece of good news was, after being bounced off the ground, he didn’t fall again but was sent flying instead.

Before being struck by the second bolt, he got close enough to Chi Yuan, activating the Mamba Iron Elbow skill.

The indomitable spirit coursed through his body, and not even lightning could stop this strike.

Do you know what unstoppable means?

”Mamba!”

Under the momentum of his elbow, Wu Chang flew horizontally towards Chi Yuan. Chi Yuan, with a flash of lightning under his feet, retreated three to four meters, trying to avoid Wu Chang’s desperate strike.

But this elbow seemed to be magnetically attracted, no matter how he evaded or dodged, it was locked onto him.

He could only watch helplessly as the elbow pierced through the lightning surrounding him and smashed into his face.

Blindness, dizziness, bleeding, weakness, poisoning, and other effects came in quick succession, rendering his brain momentarily blank.

Seizing the chance, Wu Chang shifted position, putting Chi Yuan in a chokehold, trying his best to use Chi Yuan as a shield.

The next moment, the third lightning strike descended.

This time, not only Wu Chang was struck, but Chi Yuan was also struck while in his chokehold.

The third bolt was stronger than the second.

Boom!

It proved that being a Thunder Technique user didn’t mean being immune during casting.

Being struck by lightning he summoned also resulted in injury.

Already severely injured from being shot by Silver Dawn, Chi Yuan instantly lost consciousness when struck by the third lightning, passing out cold.

Chi Yuan suffered enormous damage, and Wu Chang didn’t fare well either.

Having endured two consecutive lightning strikes, his whole body was charred black, parts of his skin carbonized, with small embers still burning.

With only 20% life value remaining, an additional lightning strike nearly depleted it.

Yet he stubbornly clung to life, holding onto the last sliver of health.

This time was different; it wasn’t triggered by some buff but rather because there was a lit red lantern by his side.

”Item Skill: Age Fire.”

”Skill Description: In Huai Valley Village, ignite the wick when the ’Elimination of Age’ array is activated to light the age fire guarding humanity. As long as the age fire burns, life continues. During its burning, it can slow the user’s life depletion, making them immune to most conventional deaths.”

Immune death comes at a massive cost, but converting the Mountain Demon and Tree Demon’s trunks into lamp oil increased the Four-sided Age Fire Lamp’s burning time to over fifteen thousand seconds.

Becoming immune to death once consumed almost all of it, leaving barely over a hundred seconds.

But surviving makes it worthwhile to use the lamp oil!

At that moment, Wu Chang really wanted to use Shadow to summon Liu Shan and give him a hug.

Although that old man wasn’t very nice, if not for the ’Elimination of Age’ array he led in creating and this Four-sided Age Fire Lamp, he would have been done for.

Besides Liu Shan, he also wanted to thank the lenient judgment system of the instance plane.

After all, on Blue Star, being killed by lightning rarely qualifies as a conventional death.

Using all his strength, Wu Chang moved Chi Yuan’s body off him, retrieving two bottles of Healing Type I for a quick drink.

As a low-level recovery potion, the effect diminishes when used in quick succession.

Using it continuously within half an hour results in only half the effect of the previous bottle; two bottles used back-to-back restored less health than the first alone.

Which was a loss overall, but still restored Wu Chang’s basic mobility.

He turned to Chi Yuan, who was barely alive, slowly loading bullets into Silver Dawn.

As long as Chi Yuan was dealt with, the instance would be completely over.
