Reborn at Boot Camp: General, Don’t Mess Around!

Chapter 5521: Chapter 5521: Picking Up From the Airport

Chief Engineer Fu, who was originally quite at ease, felt his heart suddenly sink heavily when he heard Xia Jinyuan had gone too. Little Six had gone together with him!

Little Six going meant not just looking after his daughter; it was him and his daughter on a mission!

Fortunately, both of them came back safe and sound without a hitch.

Internally riding a roller coaster of emotions, Chief Engineer Fu didn’t say much, afraid that revealing anything would worry Old Man Xia as well. He silently let out a sigh of relief, then smiled and said, ”With him looking after you, Dad feels relieved too.”

Going abroad together, that’s what really made him uneasy.

It’s good they’re back, good they’re back!

Chief Engineer Fu secretly wiped the sweat from his forehead and changed the subject. Hearing that Li Jinnian would be returning later made him very happy too.

The old father was just longing for a family reunion. Once when he called home, the old father had even said, ”When can our whole family sit down for a meal together,” showing just how much he was looking forward to it.

This time, he truly was longing.

Li Jinnian would only be arriving home a little after midnight, so Chief Engineer Fu offered to drive and pick him up. Ye Jian raised her hand, ”Dad, please don’t take my job away. My brother and I had an agreement, I’ll go to pick him up. You should rest well.”

Afraid that Chief Engineer Fu would take over the task, the amusement caused Old Man Xia to laugh heartily, ”Alright, alright, you go, you go; we won’t stop you.”

Chief Engineer Fu also joined in with a laugh, ”I won’t take your job. You go and pick him up, you go. The siblings haven’t seen each other in a long time; you must have a lot to talk about. Dad won’t go, you go.”

Looking at the time again, it felt like only a casual chat, yet it was already 10 p.m. Even Uncle Fu and Sun Xueqing were still busy in the kitchen; nobody felt that time was flying by.

”It’s ten o’clock, go back to your room and rest, sleep for a couple of hours before going to pick up your brother. You need to be alert when driving,” Chief Engineer Fu was very confident about his daughter driving at night.

Ye Jian’s driving skills were not ordinary, as Chief Engineer Fu had witnessed during their first meeting.

It was precisely because he had seen them that Chief Engineer Fu knew for certain that Ye Jian’s journey with Xia Jinyuan to Libya was for a special mission.

Ye Jian wasn’t actually sleepy, but considering Old Man Xia’s health, she pretended to yawn, planning to go back to her room and to let the old man go to sleep first.

Old Man Xia had been happy all day and also started to feel a bit tired. The father and daughter escorted him back to his room to rest.

At 12 a.m., Ye Jian quietly went downstairs without waking Sun Xueqing, the security guard, as she drove off. Her agility was not something Sun Xueqing could match.

Sun Xueqing had long been aware that besides being Old Man Xia’s granddaughter, Ye Jian commanded a great deal of respect.

Upon reaching the airport, Li Jinnian’s flight had just landed. About fifteen minutes later, Ye Jian caught sight of Li Jinnian’s figure.

The airport, bustling with lights in the middle of the night, was as busy as ever, indistinguishable from daytime. Both arrivals and departures thronged the place, adding to the lively atmosphere.

Li Jinnian, who had just come out, also spotted his sister Ye Jian immediately. His already brisk pace quickened, his strides so long they covered three times the distance of others’.

When the siblings met, Li Jinnian took a good look at Ye Jian before he commented, ”If I hadn’t trained you myself, I’d suspect you’d been slacking off every day.”

Hearing this, Ye Jian knew why he said that and touched her face, blinking her eyes with a smile, ”Can’t help it, born with fair skin, just a tad better than you, brother. You’re the same. Even with daily sunbathing at the beach, you haven’t tanned much.”

Li Jinnian was also naturally fair-skinned, inheriting this trait from the Fu family side; no matter how much he sunbathed, he would only tan a bit, and after peeling, his face would be white once again.
