Reborn at Boot Camp: General, Don’t Mess Around!

Chapter 5520: Chapter 5520: Heart-to-Heart Talk

Big brother, let’s not bring it up again. He had a hard time convincing the old man as it is. Mention it again, and who knows if the old man will want An Jiaxin to get engaged early.

”What are you coughing for? Is the dish too salty? Drink more water.” Old Man Xia glanced over, clearly knowing the reason for the cough and not missing the covert move under his watchful eyes.

”What’s so early about getting engaged? I think it’s a good idea,” Old Man Xia snorted coldly.

”Dad, didn’t we agree not to talk about this for now?” Chief Engineer Fu worried, hurried over to support the old master back to the living room to sit, ”Let’s talk about something else, something else. Let’s not talk about engagement, otherwise An Jiaxin will worry about me arguing with you.”

”It was you who said that, not me.” Right then, the old man was like a stubborn old child, insisting on battling wits with Chief Engineer Fu. It looked like a quarrel, but Ye Jian saw a hint of a smile in the old man’s eyes.

Ye Jian almost thought the old man was getting worked up and quickly bowed her head to snicker, Grandpa... he was just teasing Dad.

Indeed, such a stubborn old child, no wonder he could suggest playing chess and then going out for a few laps.

”Grandpa, have some tea, Dad, you have some too, I’ll join you as well.”

Though the old man was teasing Chief Engineer Fu, Ye Jian was worried Chief Engineer Fu would take it seriously and really start arguing with the old man, so she quickly played the role of a pacifier, keeping the elders happy.

It was the New Year, after all; if Chief Engineer Fu and Old Man Xia really started arguing over her matter, it would truly be her fault.

”Your dad, no fun.” The old man took the tea and said to Ye Jian, ”Not a single humorous bone in his body, he doesn’t even get a joke.”

Only then did Chief Engineer Fu realize that Old Man Xia was teasing him.

He humbled himself again, ”Dad, I’m already in my fifties, and you still treat me like a child.”

”So what, is that not allowed?”

”Allowed, allowed, definitely allowed!” Chief Engineer Fu quickly agreed, as long as engagement wasn’t mentioned, he was happy to be treated like a three-year-old!

In the kitchen, Uncle Fu was busy, and with a little help from Xiao Yu, Ye Jian sat down. Chief Engineer Fu’s questions came one after another, first asking how much holiday time was left, then how things were recently, and finally, picking up a newspaper from the coffee table, pointed to a news story from a while back, ”This silhouette, Dad recognized you at a glance.”

”Running off to a peacekeeping mission without even telling the family, If Dad hadn’t seen the newspaper, he wouldn’t even have known his daughter had joined the peacekeeping force.”

Peacekeeping, in Libya, the most dangerous country, and his precious daughter had gone there for peacekeeping!

At that moment, when Chief Engineer Fu saw the silhouette in the newspaper, he was so worried he couldn’t sleep all night. Later, Battalion Commander Sun came to get him, and Chief Engineer Fu asked about the female soldiers’ peacekeeping mission in Libya. Battalion Commander Sun smiled and said, ”We have ten female soldiers here, and your daughter Little Ye is leading them.”

”Don’t worry, they’re handling logistics; they won’t go to the dangerous zones. If there’s danger, it won’t be their turn.”

Hearing this from Battalion Commander Sun, Chief Engineer Fu felt much more at ease when he returned home.

Therefore, Chief Engineer Fu had always thought that Ye Jian was still abroad on a peacekeeping mission and hadn’t expected to see Ye Jian at home, so, seeing Ye Jian in that instant, Chief Engineer Fu was utterly stunned.

Thinking his daughter was still overseas on a peacekeeping mission, finding her magically at home was indeed a surprise.

Ye Jian was sweating bullets; even she might not recognize herself from a silhouette, yet how could Grandpa and Dad recognize it instantly.

”I wasn’t really going there for peacekeeping, I just led a team over. Once the female soldiers adjusted, I came back. You can relax now.”

”Although it’s dangerous over there, we were all inside the peacekeeping force’s camp, we never left, it’s safe!”

Old Man Xia also added a word, ”Little Six went too, having him there, I was very relieved.”
