Death… And Me

Chapter 3755: Banishing Light Moment

*Ugh!*

Immediately, Celis knew something had entered his body, going straight for his soul. For a moment, he felt like he was splitting apart, but that only lasted a fraction of a second.

*Pin!*

[The System has detected an attempt to cause harm to the Demon Plant Called Celis. Initiating blockage.]

A white and black light then shone around Celis’s body, followed by the purge of the foreign energy. A gray mist came from Celis, dissipating in the air. No, it wasn’t dissipating in the air. Rean, Roan, and Kentucky could feel it from inside the Dimensional Realm. The mist was being envelopped by Spatial Powers, disappearing from sight.

[Process concluded.]

Celis felt all stiff, his branches trembling while he found it hard to control his roots, vines, and leaves. ’That scared the shit out of me!’

Rean sighed in relief. ’He is cursing, so he is fine.’

Roan narrowed his eyes, though. ’Normally, the system blocks any attempts against our souls, and we don’t even feel anything. Yet, Celis obviously suffered some side effects, even if mild.’

Celis quickly recovered full control of his body in the next few seconds. ’Does that mean even our system struggled to get rid of the Banishing Light?’

[Probably,] Sister Orb joined the conversation. [I could see it here. The system went all out just now. Just how far are we from those so-called Light Spreaders? It might get more dangerous if we get close to one.]

’Do you think the system can’t defend?’ Rean asked.

[I doubt our system would lose, but you know how the saying goes, better safe than sorry.]

’What if Rean, Kentucky, Celis, and I were outside at the same time?’ Roan asked. Just now, the system only had to protect Celis, but what if it had to protect all four of them?

[Makes no difference,] Sister Orb assured. [The Soul Protection is an all-encompassing technique from the system. It will be the same regardless of whether it is only one of you or all four.]

Roan nodded. It was better to confirm ahead of time, after all.

[But, you could also say that we are more vulnerable to that Banishing Light than most of the other beings,] Sister Orb also added.

And Rean knew why. ’Because of our new cultivation technique, we don’t have our souls in just one place, like the heads. Our souls are present in our entire bodies, which actually makes us a bigger target for this thing.’

[Exactly,] Sister Orb was happy Rean caught it. [Well, at the moment, it seems like the system can deal with it. Just be careful from now on.]

Kentucky didn’t forget the other part. ’What about the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm? Did that Banishing Light try to enter our Dimensional Realm?’

[It did,] Sister Orb answered, already intending to speak about it. [It is truly an impressive ability. However, it was pretty obvious it was made to target all the other types of Dimensional Realms, not ours. When the Banishing Light tried to force its way inside our Dimensional Realm, it became incompatible, losing all its strength and dissipating. The system didn’t need to intervene at all.]

Foliana, Tanxan, and Zangeshu were relieved to hear that. ’Then we must make sure to stay inside the Dimensional Realm every time the 1000 hours run out.’

’Still...’ Kentucky thought further. ’Isn’t a Pocket Dimensional Realm supposed to be under its owner’s full control? How come the Pocket Dimensional Realm Owners from the past didn’t try to block the light once it entered?’

[The owner indeed has full control over it, but there are some exceptions,] Sister Orb explained. [Did you forget? Even I failed to deal with Diliy’s Fifth Stage Sword Intent back in the Mortal Realm because I didn’t know about it. There was also that time I failed to get rid of a tracker because it was also made of a type of energy I didn’t know. The Banishing Light is probably something similar, some kind of energy that is different from anything the Pocket Dimensional Realm owners recognize after they got invaded.]

’That makes sense,’ Rean nodded. ’Sister Orb, were you able to identify what that Banishing Light Energy was about?’

[More or less...] Sister Orb wasn’t confident. [What I can say for certain is that it is not related to Light Element, even though it is called Banishing Light. It is a type of soul energy, but not one I’m familiar with. It is hard to tell if it originated from a living being or if it is something else entirely.]

Roan pondered a bit. ’A different type of energy...’

At that moment, Rean noticed that Tarie and her companions had weird expressions on their faces. ”Hum? Is there a problem? Could it be that the meal I prepared wasn’t to your taste? I can make something different if you want.”

Tarie quickly shook her head. ”No, that’s not it.” She then took her clock out and saw that the 1000-hour count had restarted. ”It’s just that we haven’t seen the Banishing Light, so we were wondering if something happened.”

Because the Dimensional Realm is different, the Banishing Light didn’t enter this place. Naturally, the Flash of Light that they were expecting to see didn’t appear either. ”Hum? But it did appear, didn’t you notice?”

”It did?” Tarie and the others were taken aback. ”How come we didn’t see it?”

”Hahaha!” Rean laughed out loud. ”Isn’t that obvious? It’s my food! You loved eating it so much that you didn’t even notice when the Banishing Light appeared. Nothing could make a cook like me happier.” Well, that was another blatant lie, but it worked just fine for those female devils.

”I see...” Tarie smiled in response. ”Indeed, Senior Rean’s food is delicious. Oh, I understand now. Because we were used to never eating, we were overwhelmed by this long-forgotten sensation and failed to notice everything else.”

Rean sighed in relief. ”It warms my heart to hear your compliments. Praise the Light of the Provider.”

”Praise the Light of the Provider.” The girls followed suit.

Around an hour later, the mealtime was over, and Rean brought the girls out of the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm again. Celis also returned to the Dimensional Realm before that. Finally, Kentucky flapped his wings, and they shot into the distance.
