Death… And Me

Chapter 3723: Is He Evil?

’Sister Orb,’ Rean contacted the Orb after getting close, ’how is this thing?’

[This one would be hard to touch,] Sister Orb said. [It is not at the Legendary Level, but it is a Divine High Level one. Well, the real problem is that it is way too big. Its core is nowhere near this place, so hacking into it would not only take a long time, but I might also get found out. In fact, I highly doubt there is only one core. And since they are probably working in tandem, changes in one of them would be caught by those operating other cores. Hacking is not a good idea here.]

Rean nodded, not really surprised to hear that. They had found a similar type of formation before in space. ’It’s fine. We can’t rely on the system’s hacking power forever anyway. It’s time for the Formations Masters to shine!’

*Zush, zush!*

Immediately, Tanxan and Zangeshu appeared outside, on Kentucky’s back. ”Of course you would call us...” Zangeshu commented.

Tanxan didn’t mind. ”This formation isn’t all that bad. We will need to open a gap in it without alerting the guys watching the core, or cores. Normally, I wouldn’t have the confidence to pull it out against a formation of the Werdlem Empire.”

”Yes, but we have an advantage,” Rean smiled in response. ”We have a Sister Orb, who can give us an analysis of the formation that even your Lingan Universe’s best circuitry formations technology couldn’t get close to.”

Tanxan was aware of that, having spent quite a long time with Zangeshu, Rean, and Sister Orb while working in the formations. One of the reasons the System Armor came to life so fast was also due to the system’s incredible processing power to run the designs and tests. Tanxan could only dream of something like that back when he lived in Lingan.

Rean had Kentucky approach the formation, but they didn’t touch it, as there might be sensors. At the same time, Rean kept his Light and Divine Sense Bending Skill active. As long as a Divine Sense touched it, he would know, especially the distance.

They spent a day there in the air, using Sister Orb to the fullest, and ultimately figuring out the layers of the formation.

”So, other than the barrier, it has self-recovery, detection, and also a partial self-destruction, with each rune holding onto quite some energy,” Zangeshu commented.

”The self-destruction is likely a last resort if the experts from the humanoid race don’t get here in time,” Rean explained. ”The Demon Beasts would open a gap in the formation and cross it. At that time, when most forces start passing through, the runes would explode this side of the formation, potentially bringing down quite a few experts of the Demon Beasts Races.”

Tanxan was more focused on the way to open that gap. ”How about we use similar types of protection runes?”

Zangeshu and Rean looked at him. ”You mean to replace the runes of this side, making it look like the formation is working fine. We might end up triggering the self-destruction runes, you know? They made it so those runes would activate at the slightest change.”

”I know,” Tanxan nodded. ”But we don’t only have the system and our knowledge. We also have Celis.”

Celis, who was cultivating as always, finally paid attention to the outside world for the first time in a long while. ”Me?”

Tanxan quickly told his plan. ”We make similar runes that can replace the ones in this tiny part of the formation. As for the self-destruction runes, we will have Celis absorb the energy they accumulate for their self-destructions slowly. Of course, the suction of energy would usually be detected by those operating the formation, and that’s why we need to work together. We have to replace the runes we want fast before the lack of energy of the runes is noticed.”

Rean and Zangeshu pondered a bit, accepting the idea in the end. ”Seems feasible. Worst case, we can run away from here before anyone comes. In fact...”

*Zush!*

Roan was the next one to appear outside. ”I get it.” Then, he activated Rean’s Light and Divine Sense Skill before flying into the distance.

”Oh!” Kentucky got it, too. ”If the plan fails and we are caught, we can enter the Dimensional Realm and then come out where Roan is. He can even fly up to a Light Year away now. Hahaha!”

”Yeap!” Rean confirmed.

Roan did exactly that. Of course, a Light Year is almost ten trillion kilometers, so he didn’t go that far. He returned to the city, used the ID of the guy earlier, and teleported a few tens of millions instead. And that’s just because he paid to teleport several times. He was still on the same continent, just in another country, though.

Inside the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm, Roan appeared again. He went to Rean’s workshop, where Rean, Zangeshu, and Tanxan were working on the replacement runes already. ”I’m done. The exit is quite far. You can start anytime you want.”

Zangeshu used one of the microscopic devices to look into one of the runes while speaking. ”It will take us a day or two to make enough runes that we can control without being detected.”

Rean was working with Tanxan on the self-destruction runes’ replacements. ”He is right.”

Sister Orb looked outside, warning Rean and the others. [You are working on the formation of our side, right? What about the formation on the Demon Beasts’ side?]

Rean looked at her. ”Are you able to analyze that formation from the humanoid races’ side?”

[Even though we can see it from here, that one is still several hundred kilometers away. It will be difficult.]

”Exactly,” Rean confirmed. ”The only thing we can do is first open a gap in the humanoid races’ side, and then approach the Demon beasts’ Formation. We can’t do much before getting close enough.”

It was at that moment that Rean’s CD received a message.

”Hum?” He took a look at it, and in fact, it was a call for Forohel, the unconscious guy he captured and copied his ID. ”Already?”

”What is it?” Roan took a look as well. ”So they are mobilizing to attack the Demon Beasts’ Territories, uh?”

Rean decided to ignore it. ”That’s good. The focus of the war in this region will be on this next battle, so it might serve as a cover for us in case something goes wrong.”

Kentucky couldn’t help but ask. ”But if Forohel doesn’t appear to fight after registering... won’t he be punished? Usually, deserters are sentenced to death, no? Is he evil or something?”

Rean immediately stopped what he was doing, looking at Forohel through his connection with the Dimensional Realm. ”Shit...”
