The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1988: Chapter 1988: Interrogation (4)

Next, it was someone from the Xu Family, onstage was Meng Shuang, the daughter-in-law of the lord of Anning County and the one who manages the Xu Family’s household affairs. She didn’t embellish anything, merely recounted the process she knew, without adding any personal feelings.

Yang Ruxin was somewhat surprised as she looked at this Lady Xu. Why did it feel so strange? Did this Lady Xu wish for Wang Zhengzheng’s death, or did she believe she didn’t commit murder?

”Honorable sirs, Zhengzheng grew up in the Wang Family and the palace since childhood. Although her temper was a bit spoiled, she was not a bad person, and she was in her prime. She shouldn’t have...” Meng Shuang paused, ”I hope you can find the murderer soon, so this poor child can rest in peace...”

Lord Jiang nodded and let Meng Shuang step down, then called for the coroner. After Wang Zhengzheng’s sudden death, the case was reported to the authorities. Early on, Lord Jiang took people to visit the Xu Family, and the body is now placed in the morgue at the Governor’s Office, with a detailed autopsy already conducted by the coroners, who were now to report the results.

Two coroners performed the autopsy together, and the result was that Wang Zhengzheng did indeed die from poisoning, with the time of death being around 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM last night. As for what poison it was, they couldn’t determine, but there was indeed a similar toxin in her stomach fluid...

Next, it was time to question the accused.

Although Yang Ruxin was the accused, it was just suspicion, and considering her rank, she didn’t need to kneel but stood in the main hall.

”Madam Ruyi,” Lord Jiang looked at Yang Ruxin.

Yang Ruxin quickly stepped forward two steps, with a slight curtsy.

”Wang Zhengzheng took the last medicine pill last night and then suddenly died at midnight. Do you have anything to say now?” Lord Jiang looked at Yang Ruxin.

”What can she say? My good granddaughter was killed by her...” The lord of Anning County suddenly shouted, ”She deserves to pay with her life.”

”County Lord, this is the main hall, please do not interfere with the trial.” Lord Jiang frowned, looking at the lord of Anning County.

The lord of Anning County still wanted to say something, but noticed the displeased gaze of the Crown Prince and swallowed her words. Although by seniority, she was his grandaunt, they were several generations apart, and in the presence of the Empress Dowager, the Crown Prince certainly had more prestige.

”Lord Jiang, honorable sirs, may I ask a few questions?” Yang Ruxin completely ignored the threat from the lord of Anning County and calmly looked at Lord Jiang.

Lord Jiang exchanged a glance with Guo Hong and Gu Ziheng beside him, then nodded, ”You may.”

”My first question is for the Xu Family. When I initially prescribed the medicine, I clearly stated it was to be taken in the morning. Why was it taken in the evening yesterday?”

”This...” Meng Shuang didn’t know, so she could only look at her mother-in-law.

The lord of Anning County frowned, ”Whether it’s taken in the morning or evening, isn’t it the same? As long as it’s taken, it’s fine, isn’t it?”

Yang Ruxin was immediately amused with anger, ”If you put it that way, what difference does it make whether Wang Zhengzheng dies decades earlier or later? She has to die sooner or later anyway...”

There was immediately muffled laughter around.

”You...” The lord of Anning County never expected Yang Ruxin to say such a thing and was immediately at a loss for words, raising a hand to point at Yang Ruxin wanting to say something but was stopped by her husband Xu Donglin, turning her head, ”What are you doing?”

”At a time like this, arguing is useless.” Xu Donglin sighed.
