The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 139: Chapter 139: Equally Divided_1

The village chief glanced at Yang Ruxin, then turned to the two elders, ”Third Great-Uncle, Fourth Grandfather, what do you think... ”

”Girl, are you truly willing to divide?” Third Great-Uncle looked at Yang Ruxin.

”Is there even room for me to disagree?” Yang Ruxin said with a bitter smile.

Third Great-Uncle sighed, ”Since it’s like this, then let’s divide.”

The division of the family was supposed to be decided by the men, but the eldest branch’s Yang Rufeng was only four years old and completely ignorant of these matters, so Yang Dani made all the decisions.

Yang Anshi wanted to throw the eldest branch out of the house with nothing, but Yang Peili stopped her before she could finish speaking.

Yang Anshi pursed her lips and said no more.

”We have thirty mu of land in the family, but the eldest branch has no labor to work it, so I will not divide it,” Yang Peili began to detail the family property. ”There are five hundred jin of grain in the cellar. After dividing it into five parts, the eldest branch will get one hundred jin. Since they are not getting any land, the other branches will give the eldest branch an additional two hundred jin of grain each year, which is enough for their mother and daughters to eat and drink... As for the chickens and pigs in the backyard, we will divide the meat when they are butchered...”

Yang Ruxin scoffed inwardly, how nice it sounded, but she probably wouldn’t get even a single grain in the future. However, it didn’t matter, the best outcome would be to have nothing to do with these people of the Yang Family from now on.

”We have ten taels of silver in the house. Give two taels to the eldest branch. However, since Xu’s still needs medicine, I will take charge and give five taels of silver to the eldest branch...”

”Father...” Yang Baifu was displeased as soon as he heard this.

Yang Peili, however, waved his hand to interrupt his fourth son’s words and continued to arrange, ”As for providing for the elderly, the eldest branch probably has no capacity as of now, so let’s wait until Rufeng turns twelve before we talk about it...”

The elder’s words sounded truly fair and even as if he intended to support the eldest branch.

”As for the house, you can have the west wing room you are living in now...”

Yang Ruxin listened with an expressionless face.

The village chief wrote down the details of the division, then looked up at Yang Ruxin, ”Dani, do you have anything else to add?”

”Do you all think this division is fair?” Yang Ruxin raised her eyebrows as she looked at those present.

Everyone fell silent, fair my ass!

”Grandfather, how is this different from us being driven out with nothing?” Yang Ruxin looked at Yang Peili again.

”Then what do you want?”

”If you want a fair division, then all things must be divided equally. Our share must not be a penny less; otherwise, I will not agree,” Yang Ruxin stated adamantly. What does it mean to not allocate land because ’there is no labor at home’? They could still rent it out even if they couldn’t farm it themselves.

”Impossible...” Yang Anshi dismissed with a wave of her hand, ”You wish...”

”Then we won’t divide!” Yang Ruxin smiled, ”Anyway, our family is already standing on the edge of a cliff, we’re set to die no matter what. We aren’t afraid of anything. Since my father is already gone, you can take the lives of our family of six...”

”You...” Yang Anshi’s eyes blazed with fury, raising her hand to strike.

”Go ahead and hit, with so many witnesses here. Granny, you’d better kill me and see if you will have to pay with your life later...” Yang Ruxin didn’t dodge, instead facing it head on.

”Enough!” Yang Peili suddenly shouted loudly, followed by a long sigh, ”Then let’s divide equally.”

Yang Anshi’s raised hand ultimately did not fall.

Yang Ruxin smiled, ”Now that’s what I call fair.” She paused, ”Right, and my mother’s Selling Covenant, having borne and raised children for the Yang Family, it should be voided...”
