Two Realms: I Will Become the Immortal Emperor

Chapter 438: Chapter 407: The Fierce Beast Appears

WHOOSH!

The figures who flew from the Spiritual Boat swiftly transformed into streaks of Escape Light, hurtling toward the Mudskipper Shrimp.

Seven or eight Golden Core Cultivators attacked at once. The combined power was so immense it made one wonder if it could destroy the entire Undersea Ruins. But the Mudskipper Shrimp simply stopped and swept its Claw Clamps, batting the attacks away as if flicking off dust.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The numerous attacks burst apart upon contact.

”So strong!”

Everyone’s heart pounded in their chests at the sight.

”Che’er, what’s the deal with this Mudskipper Shrimp?”

As Meng Changtu yelled, he waved his hand, and two Mudskipper Shrimps materialized in a flash of light. However, his two Spirit Pets, despite their normally immense size, were utterly dwarfed by the creature before them, cowering as if before their ancestor.

With two deafening, crushing blows, they were slammed to the ground by the other’s Claw Clamps. The ground even caved in where they landed.

The Little Chick beat its wings, circling over the enemy’s head. It grabbed onto the creature’s arms with its claws and, with all its might, managed to lift it off the ground for just a moment. But the shrimp struggled, and the Little Chick lost its grip as the beast came crashing back down.

The other members of the Yu Race also attacked with all their might. But their strikes, each powerful enough to kill a Golden Core Cultivator, merely glanced off the creature’s Armor, creating nothing more than a spray of sparks.

”It’s been living here, using the herb field to heal its wounds.”

Chen Che replied quickly. He pressed his palms together and pointed toward his Sword Pill. SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH! A continuous whistling filled the air as countless Flying Swords shot toward the wound on the creature’s tail.

Each Flying Sword trailed a Sword Rainbow and stretched for hundreds of zhang, carrying a terrifying momentum. They rained down on the Mudskipper Shrimp’s tail as densely as a downpour, stabbing directly into its unarmored flesh.

ROAR!

A piercing shriek of pain echoed out, shaking the very ground. Countless rocks and bits of rubble began to jump and dance wildly.

In an instant, it abandoned the two Mudskipper Shrimps attacking it and charged at Chen Che like a rabid dog. After a few futile attempts to catch him, it grew enraged and opened its massive mouth, spewing forth a colossal silver wave.

The wave was held aloft by surging Demon Qi. As it rushed forward, it gradually took shape, morphing into a terrifying deep-sea beast. With each sway of its body, its fins quivered violently.

With a flick of its massive tail, it leaped forward, seeming to shrink the ground beneath it. In the blink of an eye, it was right in front of Chen Che.

”Break!”

With a flash of sword light, the Ruyi Wind and Thunder Sword shot out, unleashing a Sword Aura hundreds of zhang long.

With a piercing screech of clashing weapons, the giant fish was cleaved in two. But, sustained by immense Demonic Power, it didn’t dissipate. Its two halves slammed stiffly into the ground, its tail thrashing about and gouging deep pits into the earth.

”Attack the wound on its tail!”

Everyone snapped back to their senses. At Yu Yunko’s cry, they immediately changed targets, unleashing their attacks on the exposed wound.

Yu Yunko herself became a streak of light, deftly dodging its Claw Clamps. Then, in a flash, she swung her blade upward, viciously slashing at its bulging eye.

As her blade landed, the crowd saw a great splash of blood. The severed eyeball hit the ground with enough force to make it tremble.

AWOOOO...

The Mudskipper Shrimp let out a pained, furious howl. Its colossal body took to the air, chasing after her in a mad frenzy. It then opened its great maw, and the waterfall pouring from the rift in the undersea sky was drawn in by its Demon Qi, transforming into a silver ribbon that rapidly encircled her.

The ribbon of water quickly condensed, forming a massive sphere that slammed shut, trapping her inside.

Simultaneously, the Mudskipper Shrimp brought its Claw Clamps together, grabbing for the watery prison.

’What terrifying methods... truly worthy of an Aquatic Race at the Golden Core Great Perfection realm.’

Though he could have easily profited by simply watching the fight from the sidelines, Chen Che chose not to. The Red Dragon Lock Chain wouldn’t hold the creature. He immediately waved his hand, sending the Yellow Gourd flying.

The Yellow Gourd didn’t grow larger, but it shot out carrying a streak of yellow light.

The Mudskipper Shrimp raised a Claw Clamp, trying to swat it away like a fly, but was actually knocked back half a step by the Gourd’s impact. With a WHOOSH, the Gourd was sent flying and fell to the ground. But the Mudskipper Shrimp was already charging again, even faster than before, brandishing its giant Claw Clamps.

The attack bought only a fraction of a second, but for the Golden Core True Masters present, that was enough. Yu Fansong swiped a hand over his Storage Ring, and dozens of Defense Talismans shot out.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

With a series of loud bangs, the Talismans transformed into ice walls and earthen shields. But they might as well have been made of paper; they were swept aside with a single wave of the Claw Clamp, which continued its downward smash without losing any momentum.

At that moment, Lu Qinglian and her husband had already taken to the air in their Spiritual Boat, meeting the Mudskipper Shrimp’s charge.

DONG!

The hull of the Spiritual Boat crashed against the Claw Clamp, creating a deafening explosion that was accompanied by a terrifying gale and lasted for a full three breaths. The cyan light enveloping the Spiritual Boat flickered and trembled. Blood streamed from the eyes, ears, noses, and mouths of Lu Qinglian and her husband, but they had managed to block the airborne Mudskipper Shrimp.

”Break.”

A full seven breaths passed before Yu Yunko finally sliced the water sphere open. Seizing the moment of the Mudskipper Shrimp’s exhaustion, she swung her blade, unleashing a hundred-zhang-long blade aura.

Seeing their chance, the others followed suit, unleashing their Magical Treasures and Talismans in a combined barrage.

Chen Che also flicked a finger, and countless Flying Swords slashed down from the sky.

Nearly a hundred beams of light shot forth in an impenetrable barrage. With the attackers being Golden Core Cultivators, even a Great Perfection beast would struggle to defend itself. It waved its Claw Clamps in a frenzy, but it couldn’t block everything.

Amidst a series of violent explosions, it was blasted back again and again.

Cracks even began to appear on the softer Armor of its chest and abdomen, and dark, viscous blood trickled down its body.

”Valley Master Chen, attack its chest and abdomen!”

Yu Yunko brandished her long saber. Condensing the blade’s edge to its absolute limit, she slashed down viciously at one of the cracks, tearing open a gash several zhang long through both armor and flesh.

Chen Che had no intention of giving it a moment’s respite. He pushed his Divine Sense to its absolute limit. With a flash of the Nine Transformations Spirit Flame Technique, his myriad Flying Swords, wreathed in Spirit Flame, swarmed forward, transforming into Fire Dragons that brazenly burrowed into the creature’s body.

”Release!”

He spread his arms, and flames and Sword Qi exploded inside the Mudskipper Shrimp’s body.

AWOOOO—

Its crimson Armor couldn’t even contain the light of the flames within. The Mudskipper Shrimp let out a final, piercing shriek. Its massive body glowed like a lantern, with firelight pouring from the seams of its Armor.

Then, it began to thrash about, waving its twin Claw Clamps in a desperate, mad attempt to kill everyone.

BOOM!

The surrounding Ruins crumbled to pieces. Everything in its path was pulverized. The group saw the creature’s final, mad frenzy and didn’t dare confront it. Its desperate struggles lasted for the time it takes half an incense stick to burn before, with a final SNAP, it froze. Then, it collapsed to the ground like a mountain, utterly still.

No one dared to be careless. They had already scattered, keeping their Divine Senses locked on the Mudskipper Shrimp. Only after confirming that all signs of life had vanished did they slowly reappear.

However, the atmosphere did not relax with the Mudskipper Shrimp’s death. On the contrary, it grew even more tense.

On Jinyun Valley’s side, Chen Xi’s three Puppets were once again heavily damaged, Meng Changtu’s three Great Demons were immobilized, Meng Qianxun’s Sword-Patterned Silver Flood Dragon was broken in three pieces and barely breathing, and Lu Qinglian and her husband also suffered a backlash from forcefully activating the Spiritual Boat.

Even Chen Che was ghastly pale. He had exhausted most of his Divine Sense, and little of his True Essence remained.

The Yu Race’s side was also in a tragic state. Yu Yunko’s strike had pushed her Qi and Blood to the absolute limit to break through the Armor, but now she didn’t even have the strength to stand. Yu Fansong had used up all his Talismans, and Yu Yunfei was on the verge of death.

The other four Golden Core Cultivators were also pale, gasping for breath.

It was a well-known fact among Cultivators that when exploring in groups, the number one cause of death was your own teammates. The Demon Beasts of the Secret Realm and its various traps and dangers were a distant second and third. After all, if you killed your companions, you could keep everything for yourself:

The corpse of a Mudskipper Shrimp at the Great Perfection Realm.

Half of an undamaged herb field.

...

This alone was more than enough.

Moreover, no one knew what selfish thoughts the other side might be harboring. Humans die in pursuit of wealth just as birds die in pursuit of food. At this moment, no one dared to bet on the better nature of their allies.

”An impressive display, Clan Leader Yu.”

Chen Che swallowed a Wangxian Pill. As he felt his True Essence beginning to recover, he flicked his finger, sending a Pill Pill flying toward Yu Yunko:

”If it weren’t for your earlier strike, we wouldn’t have dealt with it so easily. Everyone, don’t just stand there stunned. Let’s first collect the things in the herb garden. Don’t forget, there’s another big one hiding in the shadows.”

Yu Yunko harbored no suspicions. She swallowed the Pill Pill in one gulp, and as she felt the Qi and Blood recovering in her body, she replied with a smile, ”Valley Master Chen, you’re too humble. Without you, we would have had to endure an even harder battle.”

With that, she turned her head and shouted to her clan:

”What are you all spacing out for? Start gathering everything.”

As the two leaders spoke, the tense atmosphere silently dissipated, and everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.

The people from Jinyun Valley began to tidy up the battlefield. Meanwhile, Yu Yunko checked on Yu Yunfei’s injuries. After confirming he was out of danger, she walked over to the Mudskipper Shrimp’s corpse and couldn’t help but frown:

”It’s too big. We might not be able to take it all. Why don’t we cut it into four pieces first and put them in a Storage Ring? Although it will take some time...”

Before her voice had faded, Chen Che waved a hand. The Yellow Gourd that had been knocked aside earlier spun into view. With a brilliant flash of light, it sucked the entire corpse inside. He met her stunned gaze with a grin.

”There’s no need to waste time. The commotion just now might have already alerted that other Demon Beast. Its strength is greater than the Mudskipper Shrimp’s, not weaker. If a bunch of wounded soldiers like us run into it, we have no hope of survival.”

Recalling the wound on the Mudskipper Shrimp’s tail, Yu Yunko didn’t deny it.

The two Demon Beasts must have fought before, with the Mudskipper Shrimp ending up as the loser. After all, the other beast still had the strength to shatter the Magic Array and devour the Black Dragon Flood Dragon, while the Mudskipper Shrimp could only hole up in the herb field, relying on Spiritual Medicine to recover.

Yu Yunko nodded. She was about to speak when her pupils suddenly contracted, and the hair on her arms stood on end.

Chen Che looked up, only to see that a huge shadow had fallen at some unknown time, already covering the patch of sky above their heads!
