Two Realms: I Will Become the Immortal Emperor

Chapter 408: Chapter 379: Interim Sect Leader

”The Star-Picking Sect! Yu Yunko!”

Meng Changtu’s expression grew even more solemn when he heard her introduce herself.

The Star-Picking Sect and the Primordial Sect had always been mortal enemies. As the saying goes, ”what the superior does, the subordinate will follow.” The cultivators under their command were naturally locked in constant slaughter, a conflict that hadn’t ceased for centuries. It wasn’t unheard of for Primordial Sect cultivators to enter the Star-Picking Sect’s territory and be quietly eliminated.

Especially the woman standing before them.

He had previously witnessed her slay the Xianglong with a single strike. Not only was she tyrannically powerful, but she was also a Body Cultivator, the most troublesome kind of opponent.

No one dared to bet on it.

Would she simply eliminate a Golden Core enemy cultivator from a vassal force of the Primordial Sect?

”The world says that Chen Che of Jinyun Valley is an exceptionally rare prodigy. Now that I’ve seen you, it’s clearly true.”

Seeing Chen Che confirm his identity, a trace of pleasant surprise appeared in Yu Yunko’s eyes.

”Among the Primordial Sect’s subordinates, there is only you and Xiao Chan. But what’s most admirable is that Valley Master Chen is also a Tier Three Alchemist and has taken on the responsibility for all of Jinyun Valley.”

”In my opinion, Valley Master Chen far surpasses the other prodigies of this generation.”

Cultivators like Chen Che, who achieved Foundation Establishment and Core Formation within a mere decade, were rare, but not unheard of.

In the last five hundred years, the Primordial Sect had seen seven such individuals.

Three had died in battle, and two were crippled by the Star-Picking Sect. The remaining two were Chen Che and Xiao Chan. When speaking of their strength, many cultivators would lament that Sun Hao should have been among them, but he had since ’disappeared’.

As for the Star-Picking Sect, their numbers were just as high, if not higher. However, while prodigies were common, they were also more likely to die young.

In the current generation, only one remained...

And that one was Yu Yunko, standing right before them.

”Fellow Daoist Yu, please get to the point.”

Chen Che said directly, his brow furrowing.

”Valley Master Chen is indeed a straightforward man!”

Yu Yunko’s gaze swept over the gloomy, silent seabed before returning to him. ”Perfect. I don’t much care for beating around the bush either. I wonder, is Valley Master Chen interested in cooperating with me?”

”Hmm?”

Before Chen Che could speak, Meng Changtu’s expression changed. He not only refused outright but also tried to send her away on the spot.

”Che’er is a Tributor of the Primordial Sect! How could he possibly defect to the Star-Picking Sect? Do not mention this again. Leave at once, or don’t blame us for taking action.”

Although she didn’t seem hostile and even appeared to be trying to win them over...

...this matter was a forbidden zone they could not touch.

Whether for mortals or cultivators, the punishment for traitors was several times harsher than for enemies. Given Chen Che’s current status, if he showed even the slightest intention of switching to the Star-Picking Sect, the Primordial Sect would descend upon Jinyun Valley and annihilate it in the next moment.

He would certainly not allow Chen Che to do something so foolish as to hand a knife directly to Duobao.

”Cooperation? With you?”

But Chen Che had caught the key word.

”Correct. With me, not with the Star-Picking Sect. You have a feud with Duobao. If you stay in the Primordial Sect, how could he possibly spare you? Even your coming to the Black Tortoise Calm Sea this time was due to a decree he issued.”

Yu Yunko slowly shook her head, a faint, unreadable smile on her face.

”Under these circumstances, I don’t believe you are completely loyal to the Primordial Sect.”

”Are you investigating me?”

She knew a lot. Chen Che couldn’t help but narrow his eyes.

”Valley Master Chen exaggerates. The deeds of Golden Core cultivators like us are no secret to most. Besides, the matter between you and Duobao isn’t that difficult to inquire about.”

Yu Yunko sheathed her Ring-Headed Saber with a backhanded motion. She gave Meng Changtu a thoughtful glance and continued.

”Furthermore, regarding the Slaughter Tower incident in Faqian City, where he used your name... although most people don’t dare to spread it openly, it’s not some great secret among us Golden Core True Masters...”

”The Star-Picking Sect and the Primordial Sect will have another battle sooner or later. It was previously postponed because of the Undersea Palace. Now, the strongest experts on both sides are attempting Nascent Soul Formation. Whoever breaks through first will gain the upper hand. The other side will inevitably be attacked!”

”Cooperating with you is a way for both of us to secure a fallback option. It’s for me, and it’s for you.”

At these words, even Meng Changtu couldn’t help but hesitate.

A reserved chance to save one’s life.

This promise was several times more precious than any Celestial and Earthly Treasures.

”What would I need to do?”

After a moment of thought, Chen Che asked.

”Nothing. If the Primordial Sect makes a move against me, you just need to give me a heads-up. Of course, if the Star-Picking Sect makes a move against you, I’ll inform you in advance as well. If we build trust in the future, there’s no reason we can’t deepen our cooperation.”

Yu Yunko smiled.

”However, as a show of good faith, I’ll share a piece of information with Valley Master Chen in advance. A few days ago, Duobao contacted several Golden Core cultivators. They should be arriving at the Black Tortoise Calm Sea soon. Valley Master Chen must be careful and avoid being caught alone.”

With that, she raised her right hand, and a streak of light shot out.

”This is a Sound Transmission Conch. I’ll also be in the Black Tortoise Calm Sea for the near future. If Valley Master Chen runs into trouble, you can blow this conch, and I will come to your aid.”

”Duobao contacted people?”

Chen Che’s eyebrows raised slightly.

’It seems that guy just won’t give up!’

”We’ll meet again!”

Yu Yunko cupped her hands in a farewell gesture, transformed into a streak of Escape Light, and shot off into the depths of the Black Tortoise Calm Sea.

...

SPLASH—

The currents churned in the water as members of the Aquatic Race roamed freely.

Looking up, one could see cultivators battling members of the Aquatic Race in many areas.

With the Ring-Headed Saber on her back, Yu Yunko walked slowly along the seabed, calmly observing her surroundings. After a moment, three or four figures flew over. They all possessed powerful auras; every one of them was a Golden Core True Master. They now followed closely behind Yu Yunko.

”The Primordial Sect has sent people as well.”

A Golden Saber Cultivator, his body thick with Evil Qi, spoke in a cold voice.

”It’s Jinyun Valley. They say the one leading them is Chen Che. There are also two Golden Core cultivators from the Meng Family...”

”Correct.”

Yu Yunko nodded slightly, not hiding anything. ”I’ve already met them.”

”Ah?”

The others were all slightly stunned to hear this.

”Has the Clan Leader already killed them?”

”Of course!”

The Golden Saber Cultivator, still reeking of Evil Qi, gave a cold smirk. ”Even among prodigies, there are differences in strength. How could he possibly be a match for the Clan Leader? Besides, the Clan Leader is a Body Cultivator...”

”Not necessarily.”

”Ah!?”

”This Valley Master Chen is stronger than I imagined. He’s not someone to be taken lightly.”

Yu Yunko paused for a moment.

”Tell our people that Jinyun Valley has arrived. Have them be more careful and try to avoid any unnecessary conflicts.”

...

...

’This Yu Yunko... she’s rather interesting.’

Watching her leave, Chen Che toyed with the Sea Snail in his hand. It wasn’t a rare item, just a simple shell with some runes carved onto it. The quality of the conch was also low; he estimated it would probably shatter after being blown once.

He scanned it with his Divine Sense and, finding no hidden marks inside, stored it directly in his Gourd.

”What’s her background?”

The Star-Picking Sect was too distant.

He hadn’t come across much information about her. He only vaguely remembered that she hadn’t appeared during the battle between the two sects at the Black Tortoise Calm Sea. ’She probably isn’t a core figure in the Star-Picking Sect...’

Meng Changtu knitted his brows and said,

”She’s the Interim Sect Leader of the Star-Picking Sect!”

”Interim Sect Leader?”

Chen Che’s eyebrows shot up.

Meng Changtu added, ”However, her position is different from Duobao’s. In fact, it’s somewhat similar to yours.”
