Scripture of Days Past

In a clearing on the rear mountain behind the Wang Clan Village, Chu Youtian waited patiently for Master Omniscient.

However, even after a long wait, Master Omniscient still hadn’t shown up.

”How much longer will Master Omniscient be?” Chu Youtian asked Big Head, who had led him here.

”Master Omniscient is extremely busy, so you’ll just have to wait a little longer,” Big Head replied.

After waiting for several more minutes without seeing any sign of Master Omniscient, Chu Youtian secretly slipped a jade pendant into Big Head’s mouth.

Pleased with the offering, Big Head’s demeanor instantly became much more pleasant, and he said, ”I’ll go check and check on Master Omniscient for you.”

Through Wang Cailiang, Big Head was able to purchase all kinds of human goods, such as meat, wine, and pills. As a result, money now had value to them, which was why Chu Youtian had bribed him with a jade pendant.

Lulu had been observing the interaction from afar the entire time. He immediately instructed one of his cat fiend subordinates to fetch him a brush and some paper.

On the piece of paper, he wrote, ”Big Head accepted a bribe of one jade pendant from Chu Youtian on the rear mountain behind the Wang Clan Village on March 5th of the sixteenth year of the Yong’an Era.”

You stupid dogs! I’m going to gather plenty of dirt on all of you and present it to our teacher! Alternatively, I could give it to Brother Qiao Zhi as well. I’m sure he’d be very pleased.

After Big Head left with the jade pendant clasped in his mouth, Chu Youtian turned to the young man standing beside him.

The young man was dressed in white samurai attire, and there was something very animalistic about his appearance, as if he were a wolf that had only just managed to disguise itself as a human.

His name was Yi Siman, the fourteenth son of the Ninghai Prince, one of the princes of the wolf race.

Yi Siman had begun learning the culture and language of the Great Han Empire from a very young age. He had already achieved basic literacy by the age of five, and by eight, he was able to recite more than ten ancient scriptures. Among the northern wolf fiends, he had always been regarded as a prodigy in both cultivation and learning ability.

He was fluent not only in the Han language, but also in the languages of more than ten races from the northern grasslands.

At just sixteen years of age, he was already a third-state martial artist. After reaching the fifth state the previous year, he had traveled alone across the northern grasslands with his saber, challenging the most powerful warriors of the different races to further improve his martial arts.

He was also an extremely promiscuous man who engaged in romantic flings wherever he went. He wasn’t picky, either, and his long list of romantic partners included wolf fiends, dog fiends, cat fiends, fox fiends, and many others.

Renowned for his prowess with the saber, he had been granted a golden saber by the emperor of the Great Qian Empire. This earned him the title of Golden Saber Prince, a name known far and wide across the northern grasslands.

At that moment, Yi Siman was holding a saber covered in fine runes and gave off a cold, menacing gleam. He closely scrutinized the surface of the blade as he held it, as if he were communicating with it in some mysterious manner.

Chu Youtian turned to Yi Siman and spoke in a low voice that only the two of them could hear. ”Your Highness, I heard that you’ve been sending your subordinates to win over the dog and cat fiends of Azure Sun County. Is that true?”

”That’s right,” Yi Siman confirmed with a nod. ”Is there a problem?”

Chu Youtian took a moment to choose his words before replying, ”Your Highness, Master Omniscient is very well established here, and all the fiends in the county are extremely loyal to him. Apparently, he has even traveled to Great Zhu Nation and earned the king’s approval.

”He also previously killed Thousand-Man Commander Li Changqing of the Demon Vanquishing Department, not to mention the two Chongming Birds under his command. It’s no exaggeration to say that Master Omniscient and his followers are the most powerful group of fiends across the neighboring counties. Therefore, I think it would be best for us to avoid conflict with him.”

Yi Siman considered Chu Youtian’s advice for a moment, but ultimately shook his head.

He had already made up his mind to subdue Master Omniscient and the fiends under his command.

He was the son of the Ninghai Prince, and not only had he secretly taken the supreme guardian of the Immortal Dao as his master, he had also reached the fifth state in both martial arts and Dao arts.

However, as the fourteenth son of the Ninghai Prince, he had thirteen older brothers, all of whom had already established powerful forces that he couldn’t oppose on his own.

Given how far down he was in the pecking order, he received very few benefits from the Ninghai Prince and constantly had to be wary of being targeted by his older brothers.

Previously, he had been able to reap some spoils from the war between the Great Qian Empire and the Great Han Empire. However, now that the two empires had agreed to a truce, even that avenue was no longer to him.

That was why he had voluntarily ventured south to try and make something of himself in the Great Han Empire. At the same time, he could also enjoy beauties from the various races of the central plains to further his Dao arts cultivation base.

After learning about Master Omniscient and Hidden Fiend Village, he had immediately chosen them as his next target for conquest.

It’s just a shame that Master Omniscient is a man. Otherwise, I’d be able to kill two birds with one stone.

”With the help of two Chongming Birds, it’s really not that remarkable that he was able to kill a thousand-man commander from the Demon Vanquishing Department,” Yi Siman said in an authentic Divine Capital City dialect. ”On my way to the Great Han Empire, I killed a thousand-man commander from the Demon Vanquishing Department who was gathering intelligence in the grasslands, and it only took me two swings of my saber.”

”May I ask who this thousand-man commander was?” Chu Youtian asked.

”I heard his name was Shen Guhong. Do you know of him?” Yi Siman asked casually.

A cold gleam immediately flashed through Chu Youtian’s eyes. As a wolf race spy who regularly gathered intelligence on the Great Han Empire, he was very familiar with the empire’s most powerful cultivators in Yong, Spirit, and Jing Province, all of which bothered the northern grasslands.

He recalled that when the White Cloud Religion had been uprooted in Yong Province, Shen Guhong had entered its headquarters alone and cut down the pope while the latter was performing seated meditation.

After that, while eradicating the bandits under the White Cloud Religion, Shen Guhong had challenged the bandit leader alone. With his exceptional saber skills, he subdued an army of over ten thousand bandits and even recruited a few of them into the Demon Vanquishing Department.

Even though they were both thousand-man commanders, Shen Guhong is a far more formidable martial artist than Li Changqing, Chu Youtian thought. If even he was no match for His Highness, then Master Omniscient is most likely no match for him either.

With that in mind, Chu Youtian was filled with confidence and began to feel that subduing Master Omniscient might not be such a bad idea after all.

Just then, a fierce gust of wind swept through the clearing. A man and a cat jumped down from the back of a Chongming Bird and landed not far from Chu Youtian and Yi Siman with a loud thump.

They were none other than the masked Chu Qiguang and Qiao Zhi.

The first thing Chu Qiguang did upon arriving was inspect the shadows of Chu Youtian and his companion. Only a single tentacle extended from Chu Youtian’s shadow, but Chu Qiguang was stunned to see five tentacles wrapped around the legs of the young man beside him, one more than even Yang Ling had possessed.

While Chu Qiguang inspected their shadows, Qiao Zhi observed Yi Siman with surprise in his eyes.

Isn’t that the Hundred Beast King, Yi Siman? What is he doing in Spirit Province? Shouldn’t he be in Yong Province at this point?
