Chapter 79 -79: Tiger Rankings and Dragon Rankings

After Lin Dong took his seat, everyone started chatting casually.

Mayor Fang suddenly said, “Everyone, I’ve recently received some news. The Young Miss of the Ye Family from our Jianghai has been promoted to become an expert on the Tiger Rankings!”

“Ye Linglong is truly a prodigy, securing a place on the Tiger Rankings at the young age of twenty-three,” Tu Yanzhi sighed with admiration and longing.

Shen Yun also wore a look of longing.

Only those with their influence understood the weight of being an expert on the Tiger Rankings.

Lin Dong was curious. An expert on the Tiger Rankings?

What was that?

Could it be that there were other martial arts experts like him in this world?

After hesitating for a moment, Lin Dong voiced his doubts.

“Benefactor, you don’t know about the Tiger Rankings?”

Tu Yanzhi was somewhat surprised; he had witnessed Lin Dong in action. Although it was just the tip of the iceberg, Tu Yanzhi believed that he must be an expert.

It was only unexpected that such an expert like Lin Dong would be unaware of something like the Tiger Rankings.

Lin Dong shook his head, “I’ve always been in my hometown and am not aware of these things. Is the Tiger Rankings very impressive?”

Everyone nodded unanimously, of course, the Tiger Rankings were impressive!

It was then that Shen Yun began to explain to Lin Dong:

“Young Miracle Doctor, you must know of the Forbes rankings, right?”

Lin Dong nodded, that he certainly knew, “It’s the worldwide rich list!”

“Right, but that’s only the public side of it. In today’s world, there are many hidden tycoons who don’t wish to be listed… I’m going off on a tangent, but the Tiger Rankings and the Forbes rankings are actually quite similar!”

“The Forbes rankings list the world’s wealthiest people! Meanwhile, the Tiger Rankings and Dragon Rankings list the martial arts experts of Dragon Country!”

“A martial arts experts ranking?” Lin Dong was stunned; this was somewhat novel.

And then, another mention of the Dragon Rankings.

What was that? And how did it differ from the Tiger Rankings?

Shen Yun continued explaining:

“The Tiger Rankings list the martial arts experts of Dragon Country who are under thirty years old! There are a total of seventy-two who can be ranked.”

“As for the Dragon Rankings, they list the overall martial arts experts of Dragon Country. Only thirty-six can be ranked.”

“The Tiger Rankings are ranked every three years, usually involving secretive matches at various martial arts temples. As for the Dragon Rankings, they are ranked every five years.”

“I don’t know much about the specifics of the Dragon Rankings matches. I’m not aware of their specific competition rules.”

“But as for the Tiger Rankings, I do know a bit. Each time it’s held at a different location, like this time the battle for the Tiger Rankings positions just finished not long ago. It was held in a martial arts temple deep within Mountain Hua…”

“And our Jianghai City has one person on the rankings, coming in at thirty-sixth place! That person is none other than Young Miss Ye Linglong from the only grand family in Jianghai, the Ye Family.”

With Shen Yun’s explanation, Lin Dong gained a certain understanding of the Tiger Rankings and Dragon Rankings.

“Young Miss Ye Linglong of the Ye Family…” Lin Dong couldn’t help but say, “Jianghai has only five Five Dragon Supreme Cards in total. One is with the city leader, one with the military leader, one with the president of the Black Dragon Society, one with the president of the Jianghai Commerce Association, and one with the Young Miss of the Ye Family.”

“Could it be, this Young Miss of the Ye Family?”

Shen Yun nodded, “It seems, Young Miracle Doctor, you do know a bit about the Ye Family, don’t you?”

Lin Dong shook his head, his knowledge was limited to that.

“Let’s not talk about the Ye Family for now. The longer you stay in Jianghai, the more you’ll understand just how terrifying the Ye Family’s influence is. To put it simply, all of us at this table combined couldn’t match them.”

Shen Yun’s words left Lin Dong quite shocked.

Keep in mind, those sitting at this table were all Jianghai big shots.

And there was Mayor Fang among them.

Yet now, they were declaring that everyone combined couldn’t match a single Ye Family.

Was the Ye Family really that powerful?

However, though Lin Dong was curious, the Ye Family seemed to have little to do with him.

What he was more eager to find out was about the Tiger Rankings and Dragon Rankings.

So he continued to inquire, “Are these Tiger Rankings and Dragon Rankings rankings really that important?”

“Are they worth such regard?”

At those words, Shen Yun couldn’t help but give a wry smile, “Young Miracle Doctor, you seem unaware of the importance of martial arts strength in our society!”

“Let me put it this way, even if one ranks at the bottom of the Tiger Rankings, the power and influence they could possess are no less than Mayor Fang’s!”

“These individuals are coveted by military departments and major power organizations in various countries!”

“If someone from the Tiger Rankings is willing to join the military department, then even someone at the very bottom of the rankings would be offered at least the position of City Military Leader by the military!”

“As for that member of the Ye Family, she previously served as an instructor for the Phoenix Special Combat Team. Correspondingly, her position was equivalent to Mayor Fang’s. And now, she has made further progress by being ranked thirty-sixth on the Tiger Rankings.”

“Her promotion orders will probably come through shortly. At that time, her position will certainly surpass Mayor Fang’s.”

“Just think about it, she’s only twenty-three years old now. But with her achievements already surpassing Mayor Fang, imagine how terrifying her future prospects could be.”

Listening to all this, Lin Dong’s views on this world were being refreshed.

So martial arts strength was this useful!

Lin Dong was quite curious to know, if he were to participate in the Tiger Rankings with his current strength at the third stage of the Nine Shifts of Longevity, could he make it on the list?

On this, Lin Dong was unsure.

After all, he had never faced off against an expert from the Tiger Rankings.

But he felt quite confident, primarily because the cultivation method he practiced was incredibly powerful. Calling it a celestial technique would not be an overstatement!

Others practice martial arts while he cultivates immortality. Would he, a cultivator, really not be able to beat someone practicing martial arts?

“If there’s a chance next time, I hope to match up against an expert from the Tiger Rankings.” Lin Dong secretly said to himself, looking forward to the opportunity.
