Chapter 632: Chapter 29 The Path

Atop the high tower, the cold wind blew in gusts.

From a distance, many cultivators followed, especially those of high status, whose gazes were icy cold.

Lin Feng, however, remained calm and unhurried, drinking and singing with Demon Blade Nalan Jing.

This made many feel a shock to their minds.

Just ask, how many people can sit down to drink with a Demon Dao expert as if meeting an old friend again, under the watchful eyes of so many powerful figures?

Not to mention others, but even among those of high status, there are few who can do this, right?

But Lin Feng, he had done it.

...

”The Holy Daughter, this man is simply a madman,” the beautiful woman whispered.

Bai Shengyi smiled and said, ”This man is truly fearsome. As long as he doesn’t die, within ten years, he will certainly achieve greatness.”

”Holy Daughter seems to be rating this person too highly,” the beautiful woman said.

”I don’t think so, in fact, I believe he deserves such an evaluation,” responded Bai Shengyi.

...

”Damn it, he really should be killed. If it weren’t for Demon Blade Nalan Jing, this boy would have already been executed by me.”

Yu Boyun’s face was extremely dark, and Li Yanlong beside him also had an ominously cold look in his eyes. Offending someone like Lin Feng, if they did not get rid of him early, it would certainly be a huge threat to them.

”He killed my trusted subordinates; this child must die. Send someone to find out exactly what these people are going to do, and then figure out a way to deal with them on their journey,” said Li Yanlong, his voice carrying a chilling murderous intent.

Yu Boyun nodded slightly.

...

”What do you think is an Evil Demon? What is the Righteous Path?” asked Nalan Jing suddenly, looking towards Lin Feng.

Lin Feng said, ”The distinction between justice and evil demons lies in one’s heart.”

Nalan Jing smiled faintly and said, ”No, the distinction between justice and evil is in the eyes of others.”

Lin Feng pondered.

Nalan Jing’s words made too much sense; it is said that public opinion can condemn a man to death.

The saying that ’three men make a tiger’ might have originated this way.

A good man, if one person says he’s bad, others may not think so. But when two people, three people, or even more say he’s bad, when someone mentions this person, others might also say he’s bad.

”In my early years, when I cultivated the Demon Blade, I indeed almost fell into being a demon. I didn’t know if it was the person controlling the blade or the blade controlling the person. That is the magic of the Demon Dao,” Nalan Jing suddenly began to speak of some experiences from his earlier years.

Lin Feng’s heart stirred; at that moment, he remembered the ”Ancient Demon Ring” that he had thrown away.

It was a supreme treasure of the Demon Dao.

But at that time, the Ancient Demon Ring wanted to control him and enslave him.

”The magic of Demon Dao enslaving its master is not uncommon among cultivators of the Demon Dao. Perhaps, inherently they are not evil, but alas, enslaved by such magic, they can no longer free themselves.”

Nalan Jing sighed.

”However, Senior clearly does not belong to those enslaved by demon arts,” Lin Feng said.

”In the past, I was not a practitioner of the Demon Dao; I was a discarded disciple from an ancient sect. Later, I accidentally discovered the method to cultivate the Demon Blade. I had two paths to choose: to give up the cultivation and continue to be seen as a useless person by the world, or to cultivate the Demon Blade.”

Nalan Jing showed a reminiscent expression.

”Senior chose the second path,” Lin Feng said.

Nalan Jing replied, ”Yes, I chose the second path. When cultivating the demonic arts, to combat the demonic nature within me, I imprisoned myself in the Deep Sea Demon Cave, enduring the agony of myriad demons craving my heart.”

”Did Senior wish to use the demon to suppress the demon? Do many experts of the Demon Dao commit wanton slaughter because they seek a shortcut?” Lin Feng asked.

Nalan Jing nodded and said, ”They lack the courage to confront the demons within their hearts, so they are driven and become the demons in the eyes of the world. However, there are many like me who would rather die in the battle with demonic thoughts than fall and become true demons.”

Lin Feng grew to hold great respect for Nalan Jing and those he spoke of.

How could those who dare to contend with demonic thoughts be demons? Their willpower must be exceptionally strong, for resisting demonic thoughts is enough to drive one to mental collapse.

”Why were you then deemed a demon by them?” Lin Feng asked.

”Later, I restrained the demon thoughts. Once, I encountered my old fellow disciples, and we clashed. I defeated them, and then the strong ones from my former sect came to hunt me down.”

Demon Blade Nalan Jing sneered, pointing to his severed arm, ”At that time, I had just begun to cultivate the Demon Blade; my cultivation was not very strong. I was constantly hunted, and in the midst of the slaughter, I gradually improved my cultivation. Later, I was trapped on an island, my arm was chopped off, and in a life-and-death moment, I reversed the Demon Blade Heart Method and executed all the more than three hundred pursuers.”

Lin Feng said, ”The affairs of the world indeed have their causes and effects. But this can at most be considered a private vendetta. Such things are too numerous to detail. Is it necessary to label you as belonging to the Demon Dao?”

”At first, I naturally wasn’t a demon...”

Nalan Jing showed a disdainful smile, ”Later, as my cultivation became more powerful, I then became the so-called demon.”

Lin Feng shook his head and said, ”Justice and evil do not rest within the human heart, but in the mouths of the many powerful forces.”

”That’s right, there is no absolute good, no absolute evil, no absolute wickedness, no absolute demon. One’s own heart holds the scale, a demon is not necessarily a demon, and righteous people are not necessarily not demons; the hidden demons are even more terrifying.”

Nalan Jing said placidly.

Lin Feng and Nalan Jing drank together, and they talked much. Clearly, Nalan Jing quite appreciated Lin Feng.

”It is time for you to define your own ’Dao.’ Many people reach the Yin Yang Realm without knowing what their ’Dao’ is. Such people will not achieve much in the future. Establishing your own ’Dao’ as early as possible will benefit your future cultivation,”

Nalan Jing said.

Your own ’Dao.’

Lin Feng was slightly moved; Nalan Jing had also mentioned establishing one’s own ’Dao.’

Previously, when Peak Master Que Butian left Heavenly Repair Peak, he also cautioned him in the same way, urging him to establish his own ”Dao” as soon as possible.

But Lin Feng still couldn’t understand what this meant.

”Please enlighten me, Senior.”

Lin Feng said.

”The Dao is the foundation of cultivation. In future cultivation, we will follow the Dao to cultivate. I’ve heard that when the Thunder Blade Secret Realm opened, the body of the Eternal God Monarch appeared. The Eternal God Monarch’s Dao was the Eternal Dao. He created several terrifying Divine Skills with the Eternal Dao, such as the Perpetual Haste, the What of Eternity, the Thought of Ten Thousand Years, the Sea Changing into Mulberry Fields...”

Nalan Jing said.

Lin Feng was moved. Was this his ’Dao’?

To establish a kind of ’Dao,’ which will be the foundation of one’s cultivation in the future, and also the basis for creating various unparalleled profound teachings.

The next day, Lin Feng bade farewell to Nalan Jing. He and the disciples of the Azure Cloud Sect entered the Teleportation Array and headed towards Ancient Barbarian City.
