Ancient Dragon Elephant Technique

Chapter 623: Chapter 20 The Strange Behavior of the Old Drunkard

When there were five days left before accepting any examination, Guo Xiao and Qin Yao arrived at Lin Feng’s place.

Qin Yao said with a smile, ”Junior Brother Lin, this time Senior Brother Guo has arranged a great job for you.”

Lin Feng asked, ”What job might that be?”

”Head to the Deep Beihuang Ancient Barbarian Mountain Range Spiritual Mine for a year of training,” Qin Yao said smilingly.

Going to the mine for training was naturally considered a good job.

That was because going to the mine meant that these disciples would be essentially acting as supervisors.

Where did the term ”embezzlement” come from?

That’s exactly how.

Of course, it wasn’t to say you could greatly embezzle Spirit Stones belonging to the Azure Cloud Sect, but gathering a small amount was not a problem.

This kind of thing was hard to avoid anyway.

Moreover, even if these disciples themselves were clean, people from the mines would still give gifts.

Why was that?

Because these disciples going for training were exceptionally talented, the future of the sect, and naturally many people would try to curry their favor.

”Thank you, Senior Brother Guo, for taking care of my affairs,” Lin Feng said, clasping his fists.

Guo Xiao smiled and said, ”It’s not a big deal. Junior brother shouldn’t take it too much to heart.”

”Senior Brother Guo seldom speaks out for others, and Uncle Guo also hates it when people pull strings with him. This time, Senior Brother Guo is risking a scolding from Uncle Guo by recommending you, Junior Brother Lin, to go to the Ancient Barbarian Mine. Moreover, you, Junior Brother Lin, will be the leader of the group heading to the Ancient Barbarian Mine, and the twenty-or-so disciples going there will follow your orders. If these people dare not obey your commands, upon return, Junior Brother Lin, you can give them a very low score, and afterward, the sect will send them back among the Outer Disciples,”

Qin Yao explained.

Lin Feng was startled, not expecting the team leader to have such great authority.

His surprise was indeed significant.

Lin Feng said, ”It looks like the favor I owe Brother Guo is becoming increasingly difficult to repay.”

Guo Xiao said with a smile, ”Although we are brothers in the sect, I’ve always treated Junior Brother Lin as my own younger brother. What’s this about owing favors? Helping one’s own brothers is only natural.”

It must be said that Guo Xiao really knew how to manage relationships well, helping Lin Feng and quickly closing the distance between them.

Lin Feng invited them inside to sit, and after exchanging a few words, he asked about Weizhu, Tian Zhongdao, the Old Drunkard, Wang Hu, and a few other Heavenly Repair Peak disciples to see what kind of examination tasks they would receive.

Guo Xiao smiled and said, ”Sister Weizhu will also go to the Ancient Barbarian Mine. As for the others, I’m not sure.”

”This is the list of names going to the Ancient Barbarian Mine,” Guo Xiao handed a list of twenty-two people to Lin Feng.

Besides Weizhu, Wang Hu was also on the list.

Guo Xiao taking out this list was clearly to let Lin Feng familiarize himself with these people, since he would be training with them for some time.

Moreover, since Sea Demons would manage these people, it’s best to understand their characters first to facilitate communication and discipline.

After Guo Xiao and Qin Yao left, Lin Feng went to Weizhu’s residence. Seeing Lin Feng arrive, Weizhu invited him into her room, which was decorated very simply, exuding a faint fragrance, simple yet elegant.

Perhaps because it was the first time letting a man enter her boudoir, Weizhu’s pretty face blushed slightly.

Lin Feng said, ”It’s like this, Brother Guo told me about the list of disciples going to train in the Ancient Barbarian Mine, and you, Sister, are also on it.”

Weizhu’s pretty face immediately showed a relieved expression, knowing full well how difficult it was to get to go to the mine, which meant she could get quite a few Spirit Stones, crucial for cultivation.

Weizhu asked, ”Will Junior Brother come along then?”

Lin Feng smiled and said, ”I am the team leader.”

Shee Weizhu then smiled and said, ”With Junior Brother’s ability, leading this team is more than sufficient. It seems the Great Elder’s judgment is also very accurate.”

After leaving Shee Weizhu, Lin Feng went to Wang Hu and told him the news.

This guy was so excited that he started dancing with joy.

What Lin Feng regretted was that Tian Zhongdao was not on this list.

In the following days, Lin Feng had Wang Hu gather information about the other members. He carefully reviewed the data to get a more familiar understanding of the disciples with whom he would soon be traveling.

As the day of departure drew nearer, Lin Feng discovered one night that the old drunkard had stealthily left his residence and flitted towards the distance.

Lin Feng frowned. During this period, the old drunkard’s actions had been very suspicious, and this was not the first time he had sneaked out in the middle of the night.

Because Lin Feng often observed the star map at night.

Thus, every night, Lin Feng was particularly energetic and would notice the old drunkard’s strange actions.

Today, the old drunkard secretly ran out again. What exactly was this guy up to?

Lin Feng had always felt that the old drunkard had joined the Azure Cloud Sect with other motives.

...

Lin Feng silently followed behind the old drunkard.

They went deeper.

Lin Feng was surprised. The old drunkard was entering the Core Disciple area.

That place was not one where Inner Sect Disciples could easily enter. If one disturbed the Core Disciples’ cultivation and got killed by them, one could only accept their fate.

”Could this guy be planning to run to some Core Disciple’s mountain peak?” Lin Feng wondered.

But unexpectedly, the old drunkard bypassed the Core Disciple’s peak. He eventually arrived at a very desolate mountain peak, which was said to have once belonged to a very powerful Core Disciple.

However, later on, that Core Disciple was expelled from the sect for making a severe mistake, and there had been no news of that Core Disciple ever again. It was a long time ago.

Now, this mountain peak, with its broken arrays everywhere, resembled a ghost peak with frequent gusts of chilly wind. No one would come here, except for the old drunkard, who arrived at a cliff and drank under the moon, seemingly deep in thought. As dawn approached, the old drunkard finally left.

”What was this old guy sneaking around here for?”

Lin Feng shook his head as he walked out from among the trees. He lingered in front of the cliff but found nothing. Just as he was about to leave, Lin Feng suddenly stopped.

He faintly felt there might be a trace of Dao aura hidden here. Ordinary people wouldn’t be able to sense it, but Lin Feng, having cultivated the Ancient Dragon Elephant Technique, had an exceptionally strong perception and could detect even subtle auras.

Lin Feng was astonished. He sat cross-legged trying to sense carefully but found he could no longer perceive that trace of Dao aura.

”Dao aura, what is hidden here?”

Lin Feng frowned. This place was not simple and certainly harbored astonishing secrets, but uncovering these secrets would require the right opportunity.

”I will come back later to investigate further.”

Lin Feng murmured to himself and rose to return.

The next day, all five hundred new Inner Sect Disciples of the Azure Cloud Sect officially received the sect’s notification, marking the beginning of their one-year mission assessment.

Lin Feng and over twenty other disciples heading to the Ancient Barbarian Mine were to take a Teleportation Array to Beihuang City. From Beihuang City, they would take another Teleportation Array to Ancient Barbarian City, followed by a half-month Beast Carriage ride to reach the Ancient Barbarian Mine.
