134: Chapter 134 Samsung’s Decline is OverIt could be said that by achieving this level of success,

TikTok was definitely one of the most popular software applications in Africa.

Furthermore, this software was different from other instant messaging apps;

TikTok was a platform capable of outputting content,

and the value of such software goes without saying.

It could be said that in Huayao Phone’s massive popularity in Africa,

TikTok definitely contributed a significant amount of power.

”The right to speak is entirely in my hands,

the vast majority of Africans are using my platform,

how can you compete with me in promotion?”

Thinking about how Samsung still wanted to compete with him in promotion by filming promotional videos,

Bai Jingqing had a look of disdain on his face.

Regarding Huayao Phone’s ability to occupy the African market,

Bai Jingqing had clearly anticipated it long ago.

With such massive traffic,

and so many people spending so much time on TikTok every day,

he only needed to randomly insert a few advertisements to promote Huayao within the continuous stream of videos, and that was enough.

Although most people wouldn’t watch the ads very seriously or carefully,

after scrolling past a Huayao ad,

they would still have a bit of an impression,

and this impression would become part of their subconscious.

When they wanted to buy a phone,

the first name to pop up would definitely be ’Huayao’.

The subconscious exerts a psychological suggestion on people that is difficult to control.

Moreover, if he wanted to target Samsung,

it was actually very easy to do.

Similarly, randomly inserting a few news pieces disparaging Samsung into these video streams,

or using the algorithm to reduce the likelihood of Samsung phones being recommended,

was something that could be accomplished very easily.

It could be said that Samsung’s loss to Huayao in the African mobile phone market was truly not unwarranted.

The strategic significance of TikTok was definitely not as simple as a short-video software that could make money;

more importantly, it could serve as the mouthpiece for the manufacturers and powers behind it.

As long as someone was a TikTok user,

no matter how clear-headed they were,

or how high their level of insight,

when they were swept up by a massive amount of information,

they would inevitably be influenced.

Just like that, under a promotional offensive that heavily promoted Huayao Phones on one hand,

while secretly disparaging Samsung phones on the other,

in less than two months,

Huayao had already captured half of the mobile phone market in Africa.

Correspondingly, Samsung’s profits and sales volume also shrank significantly.

Admittedly, this reduction in profit was nothing to the massive Samsung empire,

but at least in name,

Samsung had once again lost to a small Dragon Country manufacturer,

which made Choi Jong-eun incredibly angry.

Everything that could be done had been done,

yet Samsung’s sales still showed no sign of improvement.

He once again held the head of Samsung’s African mobile phone division accountable,

and after some investigation,

he finally learned the reason why.

By the time Choi Jong-eun also knew why they had lost to Huayao again

and wanted to take countermeasures,

it was already too late.

If it were making new improvements and optimizations to mobile phone products,

he could follow up immediately,

and could counter with a price war.

But with a dissemination platform like this,

which had already spread across the entire African region,

occupying a very advantageous first-mover position,

it was a bit too late for him to try and counter it.

Of course, this matter wasn’t necessarily entirely bad;

Samsung itself didn’t have such a promotional channel,

which caused it to fall into a passive position many times,

and Huayao’s actions this time also served as a reminder to Choi Jong-eun.

As a major capitalist power,

the secret to keeping oneself standing tall and even being welcomed by the public

must be the ability to have one’s own voice among the people,

using methods that the people enjoy

to whitewash and praise oneself,

while disparaging competitors.

No matter the time,

occupying the moral high ground of public opinion is always a very important matter.

To solve this problem,

Choi Jong-eun had already begun considering corresponding strategies,

and would execute them in the future.

Of course, regarding Huayao’s current presence in the African market,

there was indeed nothing more he could do.

The only struggle he could still attempt was to report to local African officials,

brainwashing them about the drawbacks of TikTok,

saying that TikTok would make people addicted so they wouldn’t do anything all day long,

and also vigorously hyping up that this software would seriously damage national security

and steal their national secrets.

However, most local African officials simply scoffed at this.

What?

Such a short-video software can make my subjects addicted?

It can make them find spiritual solace even when they’re hungry?

This obviously further consolidates their rule!

This must be vigorously supported!

Stealing national secrets?

My Africa is already poor as hell,

we have no technology,

we have no capital,

and you say that rising Great Eastern Power is coming to steal our secrets?

Aren’t you joking?

Aren’t you actually mocking us?

So basically, all the African officials didn’t take Samsung’s alarmist talk and reports to heart.

It wasn’t until all the reports vanished without a trace

that Choi Jong-eun knew

Samsung’s momentum in the African mobile phone market was gone,

and he really couldn’t think of any other good strategies to snatch back the market share taken by Huayao.

In this way,

Huayao could be considered to have completely established a firm foothold in the African market.

Choi Jong-eun was furious,

extremely angry,

and flew into a rage.

He also shirked all responsibility onto the head of Samsung’s African mobile phone division,

bluntly stating it was all his fault,

canceling all the rewards and bonuses that were supposed to be given to them,

and he was even thinking of a suitable excuse to punish them.

Of course, Choi Jong-eun was definitely not a stupid person,

and he certainly knew that this wasn’t entirely the fault of the head of Samsung’s African division.

After all, basically all the decisions were made by himself;

if there was really someone to blame,

one could only blame the head over there for not understanding the local market situation

and for the feedback information not being timely or accurate enough.

Most of the responsibility still lay with him,

he just didn’t want to admit such a fact.

Originally, he felt that in the Dragon Country mobile phone market,

because of the narrow-minded national spirit of the Dragon Country people,

his massive Samsung empire could only be reduced to ’others’ in the Dragon Country market,

which was unavoidable,

and definitely not because their phones weren’t good.

So he felt that Huayao’s attempt to open up the African market this time,

to compete with Samsung in an overseas market outside of Dragon Country,

was simply a dead end.

But he never expected

that Samsung would actually lose this competition!

He couldn’t figure out for the life of him

how they could lose to Huayao even abroad.

Samsung had, after all, led the global market for many years,

yet this time they failed very suddenly and very incomprehensibly.

”Or perhaps it’s not incomprehensible,

it’s just that I didn’t expect them to use such despicable methods to gain market share.

Perhaps along with the development of the times,

the old marketing concepts of the past no longer work.

It seems our Samsung should also cultivate its own mouthpieces all over the world.

Only by being able to have a say in every place,

and having excellent promotional channels,

can we avoid falling into a passive situation in the war of public opinion.”

After Choi Jong-eun calmed down,

he also engaged in some profound reflection.
