108: Chapter 108: Planning for Singles’ Day! Honor Phones in Trouble?Faced with Bai Jingqing’s trust and requirements,

Zhang Yiming naturally had no reason to refuse.

He had only just entered society,

and although he was a bit green,

he wasn’t stupid.

Though he didn’t understand why Bai Jingqing had taken an interest in him

and chose him to lead such a project,

he knew that this was an unprecedented opportunity!

When opportunity comes knocking,

he had to grasp it firmly!

If he failed to seize it,

he might never encounter such a chance again in his lifetime!

Once his team learned of the news,

the whole group was as if they’d been injected with adrenaline.

Even the operations for the jinri toutiao project were temporarily set aside,

as the team devoted themselves wholeheartedly to developing this new app.

After several weeks of hard work by Zhang Yiming and his classmates,

pulling all-nighters almost every single day,

they finally reached the end of September,

and developed the initial version of Douyin.

With an anxious heart, Zhang Yiming handed the app over to Bai Jingqing.

After a brief trial, Bai Jingqing

nodded in satisfaction.

Although it was only the first version of Douyin,

it basically had all the core functions he wanted;

the next step was continuous refinement and improvement.

”Now you’re going to be the first to eat the crab.”

”I know your team is currently crossing the river by feeling the stones, and you’ll definitely encounter all sorts of troubles and difficulties.”

”But don’t worry,”

”Huayao Communications stands behind you.”

”You must have confidence in your own product!”

At this time, Zhang Yiming was indeed still quite shy and introverted,

often appearing very lacking in self-confidence,

so Bai Jingqing gave him some encouragement.

Seeing that Bai Jingqing was very satisfied with the first version of the app their team had produced,

his confidence was greatly boosted.

With the help of Huayao,

Douyin was soon officially launched,

and Bai Jingqing also pre-installed the Douyin software on all phones produced by Huayao.

However, even so,

just as Bai Jingqing and Zhang Yiming had expected,

Douyin wasn’t particularly popular at first.

People weren’t yet ready to accept expressing their emotions through releasing videos;

on the other hand,

mobile data was still quite expensive,

and most people who wanted to browse Douyin basically had to do so via a Wi-Fi connection.

Furthermore, because there weren’t many high-quality creators,

the content in Douyin was actually quite boring at the moment;

it was mostly just some young people who liked following trends posting videos of dancing or outfit changes, but Zhang Yiming and his team were still working hard to improve the app.

However, Bai Jingqing didn’t invest too much more passion or effort into it;

with Zhang Yiming handling the details,

he didn’t need to worry too much,

and he had more important things to do now—

the Double Eleven grand promotion was coming!

Actually, Double Eleven had appeared quite early,

but it had always been lukewarm.

Because mobile networks weren’t particularly developed back then,

and many people were still using basic feature phones.

If you wanted to shop online at that time,

it could basically only be done through a computer.

But with the rapid development of the mobile phone industry

and the continuous improvement of network speeds,

shopping via mobile phone was increasingly becoming a new trend.

From a future perspective,

one could say this year was the year online shopping truly took off!

At this time, people didn’t quite trust online shopping yet,

and they were full of doubts about things bought online.

I haven’t even seen it with my own eyes,

can the things I buy be any good?

Just based on a few lines of text I filled out,

can they really deliver the items accurately to my hands?

I haven’t even tried the clothes on,

how do I know if they fit?

All sorts of questions and doubts were obstacles to the further development of online shopping;

people would hesitate for a long time just to buy clothes online,

let alone buying a mobile phone online.

Under these circumstances,

Bai Jingqing instructed Huayao to make a promise on Weibo and all official Taobao stores for the first time:

From now on, all mobile phones under Huayao would meet this condition—

as long as you purchase a new Huayao Phone from the Taobao flagship store,

you can get a one-year warranty for just one extra yuan!

Xiaomi Homes were currently being built, renovated, and outfitted in various major cities,

and in the future, he planned to expand further into smaller cities and towns.

And at this time, just as previously planned,

Peng Rizhao, the small phone shop owner who was the first to buy Bai Jingqing’s xiaomi phones,

was no longer running his phone shop;

he had joined Huayao and begun working wholeheartedly to improve the after-sales service level of Huayao Phones.

Many merchants predicted that this year’s Double Eleven sales would far exceed those of previous years,

precisely because this year could be considered the first year of 4G!

Most cities had already opened and built 4G base stations,

and with 4G signals available,

mobile phones had developed to the point where most new phones were 4G-compatible across all networks.

Therefore, this year’s Double Eleven would be extremely important,

and many manufacturers were currently positioning themselves for the upcoming event.

Huayao Communications’ post was also a way of warming up for Double Eleven.

Just then,

news suddenly arrived:

An extremely rare incident of a container truck tire spontaneously combusting had occurred during the transport of the recently released honor v8 phones.

Although the phones inside the container weren’t burned,

it was clear that a portion of the phones near the fire had been affected by the high temperatures,

while the vast majority of the other phones even had their packaging intact.

Honor took this matter very seriously;

after the fire occurred,

Zhao Ming immediately recalled the entire batch of transported phones.

Through Honor’s internal testing,

it was determined that there were no problems with this batch of phones.

Zhao Ming was very focused on this matter;

this was the first major event since he was appointed President of Honor,

and it also involved the layout for this year’s Double Eleven—the impact was huge!

He requested the quality inspection department to check these phones overnight;

according to the quality inspection department’s judgment,

the vast majority of these phones shouldn’t have any issues for two years of use,

but after all, a small portion had indeed been affected by the high temperatures of the fire,

and they couldn’t be 100% sure there were no problems.

Zhao Ming was in a difficult position now;

how should this batch of phones be handled?

If even a small problem occurred after they reached consumers,

it could have a very large negative impact on the Honor brand.

But with such a large batch of phones,

it would be a real pity to dispose of them all!

One must know that this batch of phones was intended for full-scale sales during Double Eleven;

the quantity was not small,

roughly 10,000 units,

worth about 20 million yuan!

Zhao Ming felt very uneasy.

He felt that he couldn’t make the decision on this matter alone,

so he simply reported it to Bai Jingqing.

Bai Jingqing listened to Zhao Ming’s report,

his face showing a thoughtful expression.

Although Zhao Ming was more than ten years older than Bai Jingqing,

for some reason,

when he looked at Bai Jingqing’s face,

he felt a great sense of security.

So when he encountered such an unexpected problem,

he reported it to Bai Jingqing immediately.
