127: Chapter 127 Landing in Africa, Showdown with SamsungThe actions of Xue Haixin and Li Xiang Technology naturally did not escape Bai Jingqing’s eyes.

He had also taken note of the cooperation between the two.

However, he was dismissive of it.

In fact, he didn’t take it to heart at all.

In his view,

the livestreaming trend had actually passed its peak.

Entering the fray now was a bit late;

short videos were the type of project that would explode in popularity in the coming period.

Furthermore, if you wanted to do livestreaming,

the real lion’s share was still in gaming.

When it came to game streaming,

you couldn’t bypass the current major domestic game manufacturers, Tencent and NetEase.

If you competed with them,

and they decided they didn’t want you broadcasting a certain game,

they simply wouldn’t grant your platform the authorization.

What could you possibly do about it?

Starting a livestreaming business now,

never mind how much money could be made,

if they could even survive,

Bai Jingqing would admire their prowess.

Moreover, from another perspective,

Xue Haixin had clearly underestimated the inclusiveness of short video platforms.

Once short videos gained traction,

they could just as easily host livestreams.

The core issue was actually traffic;

it was simply a matter of which platform could attract more of it.

In the third month of spring,

the ice thawed,

green willows sprouted,

and another spring season had arrived.

After taking a few days of rest during the New Year period,

Bai Jingqing quickly pulled himself back together

and continued to throw himself into his work.

In the new year,

he made a decision:

the next territory for Huayao to target in the global market would be Africa!

The African market was populous but impoverished.

Taking market share in Africa wouldn’t be difficult;

as long as one managed the cost-performance ratio well,

survival there was absolutely guaranteed.

And the one thing Huayao did not lack was cost-performance.

After a period of investigation,

he had gained a certain understanding of the mobile phone market landscape in Africa.

Most of the phones used in Africa were Samsung’s low-end models.

Samsung’s high-end models and Apple phones

couldn’t survive there at all,

given the purchasing power in Africa.

Of course, over the years, many local African manufacturers

had tried to create a phone belonging to the African people,

but they had all failed,

all falling at the hands of Samsung.

This was technological monopoly, or technological colonialism.

Without technology in hand,

one could only allow others to harvest them.

Bai Jingqing certainly didn’t need to sympathize with those Africans.

If Huayao landed in the African market,

it would harvest their meager wealth just like Samsung did.

However, the old paths trodden by Samsung and Apple served as a reminder to Bai Jingqing.

If Huayao wanted to achieve a dominant position in the global mobile phone industry in the future,

it also had to learn from Apple and Samsung

by completing its layout in the global market

while using technological monopolies to suppress other phone manufacturers.

Only then could it remain invincible.

Was it that Africa didn’t want to make its own local phones?

Of course not.

It was primarily because they simply couldn’t get them off the ground.

Samsung had a powerful supply chain,

the service standards of a major international manufacturer,

and the guarantee of the Samsung brand.

Furthermore, technology was a very difficult barrier to break through.

No local African product could break through Samsung’s blockade to achieve an ascent.

In Bai Jingqing’s view,

Samsung had become a bit too comfortable in the African mobile market.

He decided to bring Huayao Phone to the African market this year

to change the landscape of the African mobile market

and tighten Samsung’s relaxed nerves.

Of course, Bai Jingqing himself certainly wouldn’t go to Africa.

He wasn’t even willing to go to India,

let alone Africa.

It was poor, hot, and lacked water,

with mosquitoes carrying all sorts of viruses.

If he went to Africa, he might truly never return.

He proceeded to recruit more personnel.

After scouting for a long time,

he finally selected a fairly reliable person

named Ding Kuan.

Bai Jingqing appointed him as the President of Huayao Phone for the African region.

Ding Kuan led a large group of employees to Africa,

and quickly followed legal procedures

to register companies in most African countries.

This behavior drew Samsung’s attention.

This was different from before.

Previously, most of those who wanted to challenge Samsung’s position in the African market

were basically local African phone brands.

They had no advanced technology whatsoever

and lacked sufficient funds.

Samsung didn’t take them seriously at all.

But this time, it was an enterprise from Dragon Country.

Samsung’s head of the African region didn’t dare be negligent

and quickly reported it to the headquarters.

”What? Huayao has actually landed in the African market!”

In the massive office at Samsung’s headquarters in South Korea, Choi Jong-eun was busy

when he received the call from the African region.

Hearing that Huayao Communications had entered the African market

intending to build a career there, Choi Jong-eun was also very surprised.

He was, of course, no stranger to the name Huayao.

Having suffered a setback at the World Mobile Communication Congress earlier,

he had long ago investigated Bai Jingqing’s entire background

and knew he was the boss of the Huayao Group in Dragon Country’s mobile phone market.

Upon hearing this news,

Choi Jong-eun felt surprised at first,

but then he became very happy.

”Before, you were always cooped up in Dragon Country and wouldn’t come out,

so I really couldn’t do anything to you.

That bunch of bumpkins in Dragon Country

simply don’t know what’s good for them

and don’t know what a good phone is.

They just won’t buy our Samsung phones,

and there’s truly nothing I can do about that.

But now that you’ve chosen to come to the African market,

I don’t mind teaching you a lesson!”

He immediately replied to Samsung’s head of the African region, saying, ”No need to worry too much.

We have the best screens in the world.

What does Huayao Phone have?

Moreover, our high-end phone image is recognized globally.

Many people buy our Samsung phones

not because they’re looking for high specs,

but because they want the brand.

Huayao Phone only made a small splash at the World Mobile Communication Congress.

People in other countries might not have even heard of this brand.

And this trashy Dragon Country manufacturer

beat our Great Samsung Empire once within Dragon Country by relying on national sentiment.

Now they’ve landed in the African market wanting to target our Samsung phones.

Do they really think they’re all that?

Of course, if Huayao has any special policies in the African region,

report them to me immediately!

This time, I will personally take command

and will surely crush Huayao!”

After ending the call,

Choi Jong-eun cursed under his breath and dialed his assistant’s number,

telling her to contact Xue Haixin in Dragon Country.

Previously, it was Xue Haixin who had confidently beat his chest,

saying that as long as Samsung gave them technical support,

they could quickly bring Huayao down.

But so much time had passed,

and they were using Samsung’s top-tier M-series screens

and Samsung’s exclusive exynos processor,

yet there had been no feedback!

Huayao had even gone overseas during this period,

wanting a piece of the African mobile market.

Clearly, they had already completely established a firm foothold domestically.

He truly couldn’t understand what that useless Xue Haixin had been doing all this time.
