The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 811: Chapter 749: Past Events (2)

Xia Wenjin found herself unable to speak.

The word ”love” can grind and wound; who said mutual affection can overcome all difficulties and obstacles? Some forces, some constraints, some shackles cannot be broken by the strength of two people alone.

If it truly could, how would my master now be all alone, unaware that the other has already passed away? How long has it been since they last met?

If there’s only longing without the chance to meet, it’s inherently a helpless and sorrowful matter!

Ning Yujun continued, ”We thought that the feud within the family had nothing to do with us, so we ran away. Elopement, those two words don’t sound good, do they? But at the time, we felt that as long as we were together, what did reputation matter? We could abandon everything, we could have nothing, as long as we had each other, it would be enough.”

This was originally a very tragic and beautiful story!

Young men and women breaking free from their shackles, risking elopement in pursuit of their own happiness— their passionate love should have been envied. However, Xia Wenjin knew that things were certainly not smooth; if there hadn’t been any mishaps, there wouldn’t be such a sorrowful master now.

No, my master is not sorrowful.

She was always calm, even when recounting past tragedies, her expression and gaze were calm, as calm as if telling a story!

Once sorrow settles in the heart, it becomes only one’s own sorrow.

Xia Wenjin didn’t interrupt her.

Ning Yujun was also lost in her memories. ”He was from a Medical Family, the most outstanding youth in the clan. That day, he developed something and said that ingesting it would make us share life and fate! He asked me if I dared to eat it. How could I not dare? We were already destined to share our lives and never to part! We each took it, and he smiled at me, saying that even if we were taken back by our families, we would never be separated again!”

”Perhaps his words were prophetic; not long after, our hiding place was indeed discovered, and people from both families found us and fought fiercely, resulting in casualties on both sides!”

”At that time, people from both families had eyes red with anger; we were forced to make a choice. We had no choice but to take up weapons against the enemies who rushed at us, rushed at our loved ones. Ultimately, who among my people and his did not have red eyes? I saw his knife pierce my brother’s body; my sword also pierced his father’s heart. We were all insane, driven mad by everything before us!”

Xia Wenjin: ”...”

To make lovers turn into enemies, or perhaps they were enemies who fell in love by chance, but that was nothing more than a detour on their path. In the end, they were swept away by the family’s hatred, forced to turn their weapons against the one person they least wanted to.

Such past events indeed wouldn’t make anyone want to reminisce a second time. Yet the past sweetness is intertwined with such tragic doom, inseparable.

The beauty of memories is mixed with pain; and within painful memories, there’s interspersed a maiden’s pink dream!

Was it a dream? Or reality?

A tear rolled down Ning Yujun’s pale cheek: ”Looking at those corpses of my relatives and his on the ground, I knew we truly could never be together again.”

Xia Wenjin felt a silent melancholy; if two people shared their life, be it bitter or sweet, happy or angry, it’s a matter between the two of them. But if life and death, if the blood of their kin comes between, then there’s only despair!

Ning Yujun’s voice was distant, like from a glacier, carrying a bone-chilling sadness. Softly, dreamily, she said, ”His family took him back, and I was taken back and locked up by mine. But what need was there to lock me up? We could never be together again. Years later, he sent through someone what he had developed... the antidote to the so-called Life-sharing Golden Butterfly Dance, saying that once it was taken, the past would forever merely be the past. He would take it and urged me to take it too. Since we couldn’t be together again, why hold on to the past?”

She looked at Xia Wenjin: ”Did he take it?”

Xia Wenjin shook her head; the Life-sharing Golden Butterfly takes ten years to become corporeal inside the body. If it is taken too early, it would never form.

Ning Yujun smiled, her smile desolate: ”How could I take it? Even if we can’t be together, it’s the only connection I have with him. I don’t want to lose even that connection.”

She glanced at her tightly bandaged right arm, speaking bitterly: ”Now, we truly have no connection anymore!”
