The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 478: Chapter 478: Very Good and Very Strong

East Street, an inconspicuous courtyard, Xia Wenjin entered with a medicine bag.

The courtyard was quiet, and she walked in without seeing even a single servant.

Because there was simply no one in this courtyard.

Xia Wenjin headed not to the main residence but to a room in the east wing.

That room had a bed and bedding, with good lighting. Although it wasn’t large, it was enough for one person, without needing much space. The most important thing was that there was a small kitchen next to the room.

She pushed open the door. The beddings were newly bought, not originally from this room. The young man lying on the bed had his wounds bandaged well, but he was still unconscious.

Xia Wenjin entered the small kitchen next door, where she placed the herbs she had just bought into a pot to brew. While keeping an eye on the fire, she also started preparing porridge on another stove.

These days she only brewed medicine; the rice was just bought today.

When the medicine was done, she carefully strained it into a small bowl. By then, the porridge was also ready, both simmered on a low flame for an hour and a half, resulting in a soft, thick, and fragrant texture.

Xia Wenjin also poured a bowl, placed them on a tray, and carried it to that room.

Setting the tray on the bedside table, Xia Wenjin propped up the young man’s head and neck, checked the temperature of the medicine, and carefully fed it to him bit by bit.

Luckily, despite his comatose state and occasional mumbling, he had no trouble drinking the medicine.

For days, his life was sustained purely with medicine, thanks to his strong constitution; otherwise, it would have been tough to hold on.

After feeding him a bowl of medicine, Xia Wenjin observed the young man’s complexion.

She then leisurely took his wrist to check his pulse.

The previously weak pulse finally showed significant improvement after her several days of treatment. Of course, it might be thanks to the Clear Heart Pill; after all, it is life-saving medicine.

Judging by the pulse, he should be waking up now!

Xia Wenjin took out a jade pendant, which emitted a gentle glow. She looked at the young man on the bed. The jade pendant of the Right Protector of the Thousand Mountains and Myriad Buddha Sect was an heirloom from Huang Zheng’s powerful ancestors!

But these matters were no longer her concern. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚

In her previous life, she had been the owner of the jade pendant; in this life, she was not. She asked Gu Chixiao about its origin merely out of curiosity. Now that she knew the answer, even if the pendant was in her hand, with its astonishing power, she could not claim it as her own.

Perhaps the medicine she had just fed him took effect, as the young man’s eyes moved and then opened. His gaze was still pure, mixed with a hint of confusion as if not knowing where he was.

These days, he had been in deep sleep, but he still remembered that after taking the Clear Heart Pill, Xia Wenjin brought him to this courtyard, where he lost consciousness.

Upon opening his eyes, the first thing he saw was the bright face of a young girl.

Xia Wenjin smiled and said, ”Finally awake! I thought my medical skills had regressed; you woke up fifteen minutes later than I expected!”

Huangfu Jingchen raised a hand to rub his forehead and found that he was not too weak to lift it; on the contrary, he felt no discomfort.

He remembered being engulfed in darkness for a long time, within which a ray of light shone. He kept chasing that light, running and running, feeling like many years had passed.

When he looked into the girl’s obsidian-like eyes, he understood that the light had to be her gaze, the softness in his heart.

Softly, he asked, ”How long was I unconscious?”

Xia Wenjin replied, ”Not too long, seven days.”

Seven days were long enough; as the Crown Prince’s Heir was attacked on the street, there would likely be some changes in the Capital City?

Uncle Qin and the others were dead; currently, he wasn’t sure of the situation at Cheng Prince Mansion.

He would investigate why the Crown Prince targeted him.

He knew the Crown Prince would attempt another move if the first one failed. But he didn’t expect the Crown Prince to be so bold, sending assassins after him in the open streets even after a failed attempt during the Imperial Palace banquet.

Such audacity! Such determination!

He had been cautious enough, deliberately escorting Huangfu Jinxuan to a place that would avoid the most ambush-prone spots on the road from the Imperial Palace to Cheng Prince Mansion.

Yet, even disrupting their plans, he had underestimated their resolve to kill him.

With a sudden motion, Huangfu Jingchen sat up, saying, ”I should return!” He was concerned about the situation at Cheng Prince Mansion while he was away. Housekeeper Chen and others were personally assigned by his mother.

Xia Wenjin came over to support him, ”I’ve made some porridge, have some first!”

Right after sitting up, Huangfu Jingchen seemed a bit dazed. He examined himself, noticing his clothes were clean and had a fragrant scent, not the ones he wore before.

He remembered taking off his blood-soaked outer garment to avoid leaving traces, changing only the outer clothes. His wounds were still bleeding, and his inner clothes were stained with blood as well.

Now, everything on him was clean, and all his clothes had been changed, with every wound bandaged.

Realizing this, he asked belatedly, ”Did you... change my clothes?”

”What else?” Xia Wenjin raised an eyebrow at him.

Huangfu Jingchen’s face suddenly flushed crimson.

These days, Xia Wenjin took meticulous care of him. His complexion was no longer the pale, bloodless hue it used to be, though still slightly pale. Upon waking, he exhibited a mix of stern calm and a certain youthful bashfulness, a stark contrast.

She changed him?

Wouldn’t that mean she’d seen... seen everything?

Seeing Huangfu Jingchen’s embarrassment, Xia Wenjin chuckled, saying, ”Just teasing you, it wasn’t me! I found someone to help change you!”

Huangfu Jingchen was stunned again, the warmth on his face slightly retreating. But recalling his previous thoughts made him feel warm again, leaving him uncertain whether to feel relieved or disappointed.

Noticing Huangfu Jingchen’s strange expression, Xia Wenjin raised an eyebrow, teasing him intentionally, ”What? Disappointed it wasn’t me?”

Huangfu Jingchen: ”...”

If he admitted he was, he’d probably be hit, right?

Unwilling to pursue that line of thought, he shifted the topic, saying, ”No, I just worry that having an outsider involved could implicate you!”

If his whereabouts were known to those with ill intent, they would surely try to eliminate him.

Even another group of people would constantly spy on him.

Xia Wenjin laughed, ”Anyone I bring in is, of course, trustworthy.”

He had been openly attacked; naturally, she anticipated this. Not only did she select reliable people, but she also ensured no one followed her to this courtyard, even when fetching medicines.

These recent days, with Huang Zheng’s injury uncertain, she hadn’t even visited Xia Wanqing. Now that Huang Zheng was awake, she could finally tend to her own affairs.

Xia Wenjin picked up the porridge bowl and kindly asked, ”Can you eat on your own, or do you need me to feed you?”
