The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 420: Chapter 420: Meeting Kong Chan

This quiet room is very simple, with a meditation bed, a small table, and four cushions, making it appear quite empty.

On the cushion near the window sits an old monk, over sixty years old, with white eyebrows and beard, a benevolent and kind face, and an aura of solemn dignity.

If Xia Wenjin were here, she would certainly be very surprised, for this old monk looks exactly like Mo Qingfeng she saw that day at Shian Temple.

However, Xia Wanqing doesn’t know this, so upon seeing Master Kong Chan, he feels that a master should indeed look like this.

He is extremely polite, joining his palms together reverently and saying, ”Master, my name is Xia Wanqing, I come from Jinzhou. I have long admired your great name and came today especially to pay my respects!”

Kong Chan smiles slightly and says, ”What are you saying, benefactor? This humble monk has transcended the Three Realms and is not in the Five Elements, so where does this great name come from?”

Xia Wanqing, being straightforward, especially upon seeing Master Kong Chan in person, doesn’t bother with pleasantries and directly asks, ”Master, is it indeed me whom you are waiting for?”

Kong Chan nods gently and says, ”This morning, this humble monk cast a hexagram; the person I am waiting for comes from the west. Could it be that the benefactor comes from the west?”

Xia Wanqing exclaims, ”I come from Jinzhou, which is indeed to the west. Master, your foresight is indeed that of a divine being!”

Kong Chan smiles and shakes his head, ”It’s nothing worth mentioning!”

Xia Wanqing no longer doubts Kong Chan’s abilities and gets straight to the point, ”Master, the reason I came here is because I have something to ask!”

Kong Chan says, ”Please feel free to speak, benefactor!”

Xia Wanqing hesitates for a moment, then says, ”Master, you may not know, I have a daughter named Xia Wenjin. Previously, a fortune-teller predicted that she wouldn’t live past sixteen unless she finds someone with the same destiny to support each other and help her overcome the hurdle!”

Kong Chan doesn’t quite understand what he means by this, but his temperament is excellent, so he smiles and says, ”Benefactor, are you asking this humble monk to help find that person with the same destiny?”

”No, there’s no need!”

Kong Chan asks in confusion, ”It seems that the benefactor has already found this person? So what worries do you still have?”

Xia Wanqing says, ”I have found him, but my daughter is quite headstrong; she doesn’t want to marry that person, so she ran away. Now she has already turned sixteen; I worry she only has this year to live!”

Kong Chan murmurs, ”Amitabha!”

Xuan Chi glances at him warily, could he be wanting to ask my master to extend his daughter’s life?

Xia Wanqing leans in closer, with urgency and expectation, ”Master, as a father, I do not wish to see her wither in the prime of her youth. So I left home to find her. Three months ago, I found her in Liangzhou. Originally, I wanted to marry her to that destined person against her will, to spare myself the grief of burying my own child. But she told me that half a year ago, she had a brief meeting with you in Jiazhou, and you told her that her sixteen-year-old calamity had passed. May I ask if this is true, Master?”

The young monk named Xuan Chi was about to speak, but Kong Chan gently waved his hand and said to Xia Wanqing, ”Indeed, half a year ago, this humble monk read someone’s fortune, but I don’t know if it was for your daughter. If the benefactor doesn’t mind, please give me your daughter’s birth details, and I will calculate again!”

Xuan Chi couldn’t help but say, ”Master, you said before that face-reading reveals heavenly secrets and shouldn’t be disclosed, lest misfortune ensue! It’s been a long time since you read anyone’s fortune, it’s not okay to make an exception now!”

Kong Chan said, ”It’s alright, having made an exception once, doing so again is no matter!”

”But...”

”Enough, Xuan Chi, no need to worry!”

Xuan Chi wanted to say more but, seeing that Master Kong Chan had made up his mind, had to step back.

Xia Wanqing was already worried, but upon hearing that Master Kong Chan was willing to read Xia Wenjin’s fortune again, he was overjoyed and immediately gave Xia Wenjin’s birth details.

Master Kong Chan then began his calculations; the process was very quiet, and Xuan Chi felt both anxious and helpless, but this process did not take long.

Soon, Master Kong Chan smiled at Xia Wanqing and said, ”I remember now, indeed there was such a thing. That benefactor had a short lifespan; however, her fate had a turning point, and the sixteen-year-old calamity was of no great concern. It is at twenty-four when there will be a significant calamity, but this too can be resolved!”

Xia Wanqing’s heart, which had been tense all along, finally relaxed. He looked at Kong Chan, and with a broad smile of relief exclaimed, ”Thank you, Master. You are indeed the benefactor who saved my daughter Jin’er. If not for your three-day ritual that broke through her life-and-death calamity, the current outcome would have exceeded my expectations!”

Master Kong Chan smiled, ”Your daughter’s sixteen-year-old life calamity was dissolved, and it had little to do with this humble monk. Rather, it was that she encountered her destined Red Simurgh person that it naturally resolved!”

Xia Wanqing was particularly surprised, for it seemed that Wenjin’s calamity could be resolved by meeting the destined Red Simurgh, and without doubt, the destined Red Simurgh was Huangfu Yuxuan.

Thinking about it, Huangfu Yuxuan being in the Capital City at the time and place appeared in front of them was indeed destiny.

He tested, ”So, if she marries the destined Red Simurgh person, can the calamity at twenty-four also be resolved?”

Kong Chan said, ”In theory, it should be so.”

Xia Wanqing thought of Wenjin’s determined look and resolute attitude, becoming a bit worried, and sincerely asked, ”Master, if my Jin’er doesn’t marry her destined Red Simurgh person, would she really need to save ten thousand lives to smoothly overcome the twenty-four-year-old calamity?”

Kong Chan pondered, ”Saving ten thousand lives is a great merit. If truly accomplished, one can indeed turn misfortune into fortune and transform danger into safety!”

Xia Wanqing said, ”Thank you, Master, for pointing the way!”

He was exceedingly happy, as Jin’er needn’t worry about not reaching her seventeenth birthday.

That night, when Xia Wenjin swallowed the Ice and Snow Pill, and her whole body seemed covered by frost, her determined eyes truly frightened Xia Wanqing.

He compromised.

If Jin’er truly was unwilling, then it would be addressed later.

Only, now the situation is a bit troublesome.

When he went down the mountain to seize someone, naturally choosing someone handsome, asking his birth details, and having the blind man down the hill match them; who would have expected that the one grasped would be an Imperial Grandson?

A marriage contract with an Imperial Grandson, who could have thought?

He proposed to dissolve it, but Huangfu Yuxuan didn’t agree.

It was evident that Huangfu Yuxuan sincerely wished to marry Wenjin.

Xia Wanqing felt a bit worried, but in the face of life and death, these matters could be resolved.

He thanked Kong Chan again before leaving the meditation room, not wanting to disturb Kong Chan’s peace. Upon arriving at the front courtyard, he donated a thousand taels of silver in incense money.

Watching Xia Wanqing leave, Xuan Chi finally couldn’t help but ask, ”Master, you’ve never been to Jinzhou, so where did this talk of reading someone’s fate in Jinzhou come from?”

Kong Chan smiled without speaking.

Xuan Chi realized suddenly, ”Master knew that the benefactor’s daughter had been deceived by some Jianghu trickster, and to avoid their disappointment, you didn’t hesitate to reveal the heavenly secrets, reading her fate?”
