The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 300: Chapter 300: Seeing Through

Huangfu Jingchen leaped forward like an arrow, flipped to the side, and vaulted out of the window.

Xia Wenjin rarely turned back to smile at the soldier and said, ”There’s nothing for you to do here anymore, you can go back!”

The soldier, both panicked and ashamed, with a flickering gaze, stammered, ”Doctor Xia, I... I’ll go with you to look for him!”

”No need! He won’t get away!”

Seeing that Xia Wenjin bore no grudge and even had a smile on her face, the soldier was slightly relieved and said, ”Then I shall take my leave!” He turned and walked out!

”When did he run away?”

”I don’t know!” The soldier had reached the doorway when he suddenly heard the question and hurriedly turned back.

Xia Wenjin looked at him, still wearing a faint smile, and said, ”You released him yourself, don’t you know when he ran off?”

The soldier’s eyes widened suddenly, and then a flicker of fear passed through them. He hurriedly said, ”Doctor Xia, this... this joke isn’t funny!”

Xia Wenjin’s face turned cold, her gaze seemed to penetrate directly into his heart: ”Whether I’m joking or not, you know very well!” She pointed at the rope on the ground: ”The cut is clean, sliced by a knife. There are still hemp fibers on your waist knife, and you dare to lie right to my face?”

The soldier was shocked, instinctively looked at his waist knife, and found no such fibers on it.

He looked up again and saw the cold smile passing over Xia Wenjin’s lips.

The soldier was dumbfounded, thinking he had acted in secrecy, not expecting Huangfu Jingchen and Xia Wenjin to arrive so quickly. Xia Wenjin was right; he was the one who let him go.

Originally, he had no intention of releasing him. When Wen Hao’s acupoints were struck, he couldn’t speak or move, but after two hours, the acupoints were released, and he called for the soldier to come in.

After all, as a Fourth Rank Military Commander, his presence had no effect in front of Huangfu Jingchen and Xia Wenjin, but in front of a mere soldier, his Fourth Rank official authority held some weight, even if he was tied up in ropes.

Wen Hao revealed his identity to the soldier, who had been curious about Wen Hao’s status all along; after all, wearing such armor was not something an ordinary soldier could have.

Upon learning that Wen Hao was actually a Fourth Rank General, the soldier was so frightened that his soul nearly fled.

Their family’s master was only a Fifth Rank Governor, and now here they were imprisoning a Fourth Rank Military Commander. Even if Young Master Huang ordered him to guard, his family’s master would be implicated.

What kind of person was Wen Hao? Naturally, he could see the flickering in the soldier’s eyes at a glance. In his position, he naturally knew how to attack the heart, and he immediately said, ”If you release me, I will remember your kindness. You should know that it was all that Huang Zheng’s self-decision. But if you don’t release me, once I eventually gain freedom, I will remember today!”

The soldier’s whole heart went numb; he was just a small soldier. Why should he face such dilemmas?

Wen Hao gave him a glance and said, ”Don’t you want to fight for your future? If you let me go, after all this is over, you can come find me, and I’ll take you back and accept you as a personal guard. Isn’t that better than being a household soldier?”

The soldier didn’t know whether he was coerced or tempted, but his mind became active nonetheless.

However, he remained cautious and said he could only cut the ropes binding Wen Hao and wouldn’t involve himself in whether he could escape. With his abilities, he couldn’t care for that matter anyway.

Wen Hao certainly agreed wholeheartedly.

In fact, after his acupoints were cleared, he also attempted to break the ropes. They were just ordinary ropes, after all, and he, a person of martial arts origin, should be able to handle it.

Yet, he couldn’t manage it.

That tying method was quite delicate; a few rope bindings would cut off the flow of his strength when he exerted force, leaving him weak and numb all over. After several attempts, it was still the same; otherwise, why would he need to call the soldier over?

As for whether he could escape after the ropes were cut, Wen Hao had a hundred percent confidence. As long as he avoided Huangfu Jingchen, how could he not escape?

In such a large place, avoiding one person wasn’t that difficult, was it?

The soldier had his own thoughts too, wanting to cling to this big tree. He indeed helped cut the ropes for him. After he escaped through the window, the soldier even pretended nothing happened and stood guard at the door unbeknownst.

He thought he disguised himself well. Earlier, Huangfu Jingchen was eager to pursue and didn’t notice his oddity, but unexpectedly, Xia Wenjin, the young man, uncovered him.

The soldier, seeing his cover blown, hurriedly knelt down and said, ”Doctor Xia, I was forced no choice. General Wen threatened my family, and I dared not refuse to let him go!”

Xia Wenjin, half-smiling, said, ”Is that so? Wasn’t General Wen promising you a glorious future?”

The soldier’s face changed slightly as he said, ”Doctor Xia, that’s not true. General Wen said if I didn’t let him go, he would be harmful to Lord Shang. I was truly helpless!”

Xia Wenjin didn’t speak, just looked at him. Her gaze was pure and clear, yet seemed to see through to the darkest and filthiest parts of one’s heart.

That expression clearly showed disbelief, and the soldier, with a face like ash, said, ”Doctor Xia, please have mercy and let me off!”

Xia Wenjin slowly said, ”I wonder how Lord Shang deals with traitors?”

A dark light flickered in the soldier’s eyes as he suddenly stood up and closed the door.

Xia Wenjin raised her eyebrows but still remained silent. ℯ

The soldier gritted his teeth and said, ”Doctor Xia, I didn’t want to do this; you forced me!”

”Because I exposed your deeds, you want to kill me to silence me?” Xia Wenjin asked expressionlessly.

The soldier said, ”You refuse to let me go! If Lord Shang finds out about this, he will certainly punish me. But right now, only Doctor Xia knows about this. If Doctor Xia doesn’t say anything, then no one else will know.”

Xia Wenjin let out a sarcastic smile and said, ”If you silence me, do you think Lord Shang won’t find out?”

”I can’t concern myself with that!” A murderous glint flashed in the soldier’s eyes.

When Wen Hao persuaded him, he already mentioned that Lord Yu would deal with all the villagers in Wangshan Town, including the doctors here, even Shang Jingwang.

Otherwise, how could he have dared to release Wen Hao?

For him to kill Doctor Xia now was just to make an earlier move. Anyway, Doctor Xia was going to die; why should he let her trouble him before her death?

With eyes flashing with murderous intent, he drew his waist knife with a swish.

”Do you think you can kill me?”

The soldier laughed grimly, thinking he couldn’t kill a frail youth who only dispensed medicines and diagnosed patients?

If Wen Hao were here, he would not think that way. His bruised and battered face was courtesy of Xia Wenjin. But the soldier didn’t know.

He swung the knife directly at Xia Wenjin!
