The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 299: Chapter 299: Escaped

At this moment, Huangfu Jingchen knocked on the door and entered.

The Undying Poison Doctor saw Huangfu Jingchen and didn’t look pleased. He glared at him and said, ”What are you doing here so early in the morning?”

Huangfu Jingchen wasn’t annoyed and smiled, ”Has the Poison Doctor elder not gone out for a walk with Little Swallow Weasel?”

”A walk my foot! How can there be a walk with so many people around?” Mentioning this, the Undying Poison Doctor was filled with anger. Where could his Little Swallow Weasel go for a walk? Of course, it was the mountains, but now Wangshan Town was surrounded by soldiers.

Huangfu Jingchen was surprised: ”With your abilities, elder, are you still afraid of a few soldiers blocking the way?”

The Undying Poison Doctor cursed, ”What do you know? The Little Swallow Weasel is still a cub now; it must be allowed to run on its own and cannot see people or be startled during its walk, or it will just run away!”

Huangfu Jingchen didn’t know much about this matter and said a few more words. The Undying Poison Doctor, impatient to say more, took the prescription and left.

Xia Wenjin looked at Huangfu Jingchen: ”I think whether we send Wen Hao back or not probably won’t make much difference to Yu Shikui’s side!”

Huangfu Jingchen was surprised: ”You know I didn’t send Wen Hao back?”

Xia Wenjin indifferently said: ”I didn’t know, I guessed! If it were me, I wouldn’t send him back either. His eyes are shifty, and his mind is cunning and venomous. Shang Jingwang holds him in high esteem and cannot see it, but I can see it clearly!”

Huangfu Jingchen laughed, pointed in a direction, and said, ”He’s over there, tied up and under watch!”

He turned his head and said, ”You think keeping him here is of no use now?”

Xia Wenjin analyzed: ”The decision-maker in this matter is Yu Shikui. The issue of the epidemic in Wangshan Town has been reported to the Capital City by Lord Shang. Yu Shikui knows this. Currently, no news has come from the Capital City; Yu Shikui is racing against time!”

”You mean Yu Shikui wants to clean up the whole situation in Wangshan Town before the Imperial Envoy arrives, so by the time they get here, whatever they say, right or wrong, depends entirely on him?”

Xia Wenjin said, ”Most likely so!”

Huangfu Jingchen frowned deeply. Does Yu Shikui really dare to be so lawless? However, from the fact that the first thing he did after receiving Shang Jingwang’s report was not send medicine but order the garrison to immediately surround the place already shows a sign.

It seems he still underestimated the evil of human nature.

As the two were talking, suddenly, someone came running, shouting loudly from outside, ”Doctor Xia, something’s wrong!”

Xia Wenjin looked up, surprised, ”Zhuzi, what happened?”

Zhuzi’s mother did not get infected with the epidemic; Xia Wenjin cured her, and Zhuzi is very grateful to Xia Wenjin. Xia Wenjin asked him to keep an eye on the village’s situation, and he would come and report every now and then.

But never had he run so urgently.

Zhuzi ran, his hair dripping with sweat, looking very anxious, ”Yesterday, the soldiers surrounding our village started forcing the villagers to the quarantine point today, not allowing them to take anything. Those who don’t comply get beaten. Who knows what they’re up to!”

Xia Wenjin’s face changed slightly, a trace of anger flashing in her eyes.

Gathering people together, what else could it be?

She was furious that those villagers living in the village were not infected by the epidemic. Even if there’s a chance they might get infected later, right now, they’re not.

But, those soldiers gathered them together, planning to indiscriminately deal with both the infected and the non-infected, just like in her past life.

In the past, there was an outbreak of the epidemic. Not only was Wangshan Town affected, but because of the lack of medicine and doctors, no one noticed the disease, mistaking it as malaria. The village head didn’t react initially, the Government didn’t take it seriously, leading to a high number of infected, almost 90% of Wangshan Town, and many in the surrounding villages.

However, now, Wangshan Town reacted quickly, establishing a quarantine area and defense line immediately, with Shang Jingwang personally overseeing everything. Although there was still a shortage of doctors and medicine, it was much better than in the past. Everything was under control in Wangshan Town, and the number of infected was reduced by more than half. Moreover, a solution to the epidemic has been found, everything is within control.

Yet, Yu Shikui still ignored everything, directly starting to gather villagers, intending to deal with them collectively once gathered in the quarantine area.

Though Huangfu Jingchen didn’t understand Yu Shikui’s intentions as clearly as Xia Wenjin did, with Xia Wenjin previously hinting to him, he also realized that Yu Shikui intended to gather these villagers collectively, combining the infected with the non-infected, which reeked of conspiracy and had no good intentions!

Huangfu Jingchen’s handsome brows furrowed. He didn’t expect Yu Shikui to be so reckless, acting with such dictatorial power without even understanding the situation.

No wonder Xia Wenjin previously warned him, and he took defensive measures. His response was more considering Shang Jingwang’s career, as he hadn’t imagined Yu Shikui’s craziness.

Now it seems, though prepared, he was still a step behind due to different starting points.

Zhuzi reported the news, worried about his mother, whom he had entrusted to a neighbor, and hurriedly left.

Huangfu Jingchen said, ”I’ll go bring Wen Hao out and use his life to force him to change his order!”

Xia Wenjin shook his head: ”It’s useless!”

If he cared about Wen Hao’s life, how could he have started acting without seeing Wen Hao?

Of course, she didn’t realize that Wen Hao’s command token was still left in the tent. Plus, with Wen Hao’s military strategist negotiating in the middle, all the generals listened to Yu Shikui.

Huangfu Jingchen suddenly chuckled, ”We still need to bring Wen Hao out!”

Xia Wenjin looked at his meaningful smile, thought for a moment, and understood his intention, smiling: ”Though it might not work, it’s worth trying!”

The two headed to where Wen Hao was kept.

Outside, the guards saluted Huangfu Jingchen, who asked, ”How’s the man?”

The soldier lowered his head, saluting, ”He was making a fuss earlier, but we didn’t pay attention. Now, it seems he’s asleep; there’s no noise!”

Timing it right, Wen Hao’s pressure points should have loosened on their own, but he was still tied up. Normally, being tied like that wouldn’t be an issue, but Wen Hao wasn’t ordinary.

He was a scholar from the martial examinations in those years, quite skilled.

Huangfu Jingchen himself had tied him up and was confident in his technique, but there was indeed no sound from inside the room, which wasn’t right.

He listened closely, exchanged a look with Xia Wenjin, and the two quickly pushed the door open and entered.

On the ground was a pile of broken ropes and Wen Hao’s armor, but not a single person in sight. The only window was open, no need to ask and it was clear this window was Wen Hao’s escape route.

Letting Wen Hao escape now would just make things more complex!
