The Dramatic Crown Princess Wants to Poison Me!

Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Finding Treasure by Chance

Finally, the little maid walked to the side of the two people.

The two had been waiting for this moment for a long time, hadn’t they? They suddenly jumped out, just as the little maid was carrying lotus seed soup to the eighteenth concubine of Governor Wang.

In the middle of the night, that favored eighteenth concubine, pampered and spoiled, wanted to drink lotus seed soup. So the maid had no choice but to make it for her. After waiting for so long, the lotus seed soup was finally ready.

The little maid was full of resentment, carrying the tray and walking quickly.

Suddenly, a silhouette flashed in front of her, and two black-clad men blocked the way.

They were thieves!

The little maid realized and was about to scream, but the two men wouldn’t let her. One quickly rushed forward to cover her mouth while the other seamlessly took the tray from her hands, dragging her into the bushes swiftly.

After a while, the two emerged, this time heading directly towards the courtyard where Xia Wenjin lived.

Strangely, while before the security was tight with patrols every few steps, this path was much freer.

They didn’t go through the front gate but instead went around to the side and climbed over the wall.

The two were nimble, with excellent light footwork, and didn’t disturb the trees or the grass.

Of course, if they had come a couple of days earlier, it wouldn’t have been so easy because servants and doctors were coming and going like a shuttle back then.

In the recent couple of days, with Wang Wan’er not coming, the servants became lax and went to bed early. Unlike outside with heavy guards, the courtyard had no guards, especially now that it was the fourth watch and everything was silent.

They relaxed considerably, but the man in the back remained cautious, saying, ”Slow down, be careful of traps!”

At Hua Cheng Villa, they could have killed that lad, but who would have thought there’d be traps there? Watching several companions die before their eyes, it was impossible for the two not to be apprehensive.

If they encountered another accident here, wouldn’t they be doomed?

The two indeed became more cautious. Although they knew Xia Wenjin lived in this courtyard, they didn’t know which room and were about to search each one when suddenly a door creaked open near the side room.

A little servant boy needed to use the restroom.

This was quite like someone delivering a pillow when you’re ready to sleep.

The two were overjoyed and immediately rushed in that direction.

The little servant, rubbing his sleepy eyes, was about to find the latrine when two black shadows appeared in front of him, covered his mouth, and stuffed him back into the room. Frightened and startled, he couldn’t hold it in any longer, resulting in an accident.

A stench swept through the air.

Smelling the odor, the two assassins cursed their luck but didn’t soften their grip, interrogating him fiercely and menacingly.

The little servant was scared to death and answered whatever they asked.

However, the servant boy didn’t know when a young master appeared in the Governor Mansion, as their mansion only had a young miss.

After questioning him for a long time with no result, the two assassins became furious and beat the boy. Finally, one of them had a flash of inspiration and described Xia Wenjin’s appearance.

Now the servant understood.

He had been serving in this courtyard, and the people here naturally knew.

Wasn’t he one of the male companions the young miss had taken in?

The servant didn’t dare to hide anything, not only telling them where Xia Wenjin lived but also revealing his identity.

For Xia Wenjin lying to them that the Governor was her uncle, the two assassins were furious.

They couldn’t find the person; they thought he was the Governor’s nephew and felt a bit pressured. It really made them angry and hateful, and they decided to stab him a few more times later.

But this guy was also courting death.

He must have thought that claiming to be the Governor’s nephew would deter them from taking action.

What a joke. Even if it were the Governor himself, as long as he was the target, they would act.

This guy, for the sake of boasting, exposed his location, making things easier for them!

They didn’t know that Xia Wenjin wasn’t boasting or trying to scare them.

On the contrary, she was worried these two, lurking like mice, would occasionally cause her trouble. Telling them the location was a one-time solution.

If they lacked the skill, they would naturally die at the hands of the Governor’s guards.

If they were capable, she would deal with them herself!

After extracting the location of Xia Wenjin’s room, the two were very excited.

This Brocade Clothes kid had only temporarily moved in, staying in the original room of the Governor Mansion. There wouldn’t be any traps here, and since it was such a remote place, as long as they didn’t make a big noise, there was no fear of attracting patrols!

From six to five, and from five to two, their numbers had dwindled significantly, so the two were also very cautious. They had specially rested well before coming, and this moment was spontaneous, so that Brocade Clothes kid wouldn’t have expected it at all.

Quietly, they crept to the door of Xia Wenjin’s room, pressing against the door to listen, but there wasn’t a sound inside.

Looks like the person was asleep.

Hadn’t that little servant boy said that after the kid arrived at the mansion, he was too sick to get out of bed, with the doctor coming every day, and he had consumed a whole basket of medicine?

They might as well let this kid die in his sleep.

The two carefully lifted the door latch, creeping inside.

The room was spacious, but not much was furnished. The bed was immediately in sight.

At this moment, the room was silent, the quilt on the bed bulging, indicating that Brocade Clothes kid was sleeping soundly.

But this guy really knew how to enjoy himself; the room smelled so fragrant, like a woman’s.

It’s said that those wealthy young masters from rich families love to burn incense, such peculiar habits?

The two had worked together for years, understanding each other very well. One from the left and one from the right, they approached the bed stealthily, then, almost simultaneously, raised their daggers, eagerly stabbing into the bulging quilt.

Both daggers aimed at the vital spots of the person on the bed.

But the sensation to the hand was wrong; it was soft?

The person on the left quickly lifted the quilt, revealing only a pillow, no one in sight!

At this moment, a leisurely voice came from behind, ”Are you looking for me?”

The two quickly turned around.

In the dim moonlight, they saw a leisurely figure slowly walking in from outside. Her back was straight, and she walked with a graceful, calm, and composed demeanor, kindly closing the door behind her.

The two black-clad men had initially been startled, instinctively raising their knives defensively, but upon seeing the person, they suddenly relaxed.

Like finding something you searched for tirelessly without any effort.

This guy, really doesn’t know the meaning of the word ’death’!

Parading around so casually, how unaware of life and death is this?

Especially since he had closed the door, making sure there was no way to escape.

Xia Wenjin’s gaze swept over the two, her eyes blinking like dark night stars. She wore an adorable smile and cheerfully said, ”So it’s you two, why did you come only now?”

This tone was like meeting old friends after many years.

The person on the left exclaimed in surprise, ”You were waiting for us?”

”Yes!” Xia Wenjin laughed, ”You six, buzzing around like flies, are so annoying! I already told you the place, and you came only now. What, not only are you flies but also cowardly?”

Compared to flies, the two glared angrily. The person on the right murmured, ”Courting death!” With that, he slashed with his dagger and attacked. The person on the left wasn’t far behind, also stabbing out with a dagger.
