Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 2166: Chapter 2175: Lost 15 Thousand

The haggard middle-aged woman shrank her neck at the questioning, but thinking of her terrified son, she hardened her heart, ”I didn’t mean that. I just saw how your brother looked, and I got really anxious. That’s why...”

”So you ran to my workplace, chasing me for money? Do you know that the hotel is hosting a very important guest these days? The manager said that anyone who makes a mistake and offends this guest won’t have a job here anymore. And you still ran to my workplace causing a scene at this time, are you trying to push me to my limit?” Joanne Harrison really couldn’t hold it in any longer, ”I’ve already said that if there’s anything, wait until I’m off work, call me and tell me, but you still had to come here.”

”I told you on the phone last night, but you refused to help your brother. I had no other choice but to come to your workplace. If you had agreed to help on the phone, I wouldn’t have come.”

This was as shameless as it gets, yet she spoke as if it were completely justified, as if it truly were Joanne’s fault.

Joanne Harrison felt as if a heavy stone was weighing down on her chest, every breath tugging painfully at her lungs. She clenched her hand by her side, exhaled, and said expressionlessly, ”I only have 4,500 dollars. I’ll transfer it to you after work. The remaining 10,500? Let my brother handle that himself.”

Upon hearing she was willing to give money, the middle-aged woman’s eyes suddenly lit up, but as soon as she heard the amount, her eyes quickly turned to dissatisfaction, ”...only 4,500?”

Her tone clearly showed dissatisfaction with Joanne Harrison only giving 4,500, but she spoke quietly because she was the one asking for a favor.

Joanne Harrison was so angered by her ”only 4,500” comment that she didn’t even want to speak anymore. Her face was left with only numbness, ”Just leave, stop making a scene here. If you disturb the guests, I won’t have a job anymore either.”

The middle-aged woman was pulled a little, her haggard face showing irritation. She held onto Joanne’s hand, unwilling to leave, and cautiously said, ”Joanne, you surely have more than 4,500 dollars. Just help your brother, just this once, the last time. Pay back the 15 thousand dollars for your brother.”

If it weren’t for the fact that the person in front of her was her own mother, and looking so haggard, Joanne Harrison really wanted to ask if she was picked up from a dumpster. She took a deep breath, trying her best to suppress her temper, and said, ”I’m just an ordinary employee, how much do you think I make a month? I have to give you guys more than half of it every month, I still have to rent a place, and live. Let me make it clear, I now only have 6,000 dollars, I need to keep 1,500 for rent, and I’ll give you the rest. If my brother thinks it’s too little, he can refuse it.”

”It’s not that I think it’s too little, no, how can you only have 6,000 dollars? Isn’t your salary high? Don’t you usually take part-time jobs to earn extra money? Joanne, you wouldn’t lie to me, right?”

Working at a Seven-Star Hotel, how could the salary be low. Her salary wasn’t low, but it couldn’t withstand the obligation of supporting so many people, and she was out of money.

Joanne Harrison mechanically repeated, ”I only have 4,500 dollars, do you want it or not? If not, then forget it. I’m at work right now, please stop interrupting my work. We’ll talk about whatever it is when I get back tonight.”

”I’m worried you won’t answer my call tonight...” the middle-aged woman whispered, then immediately added, ”Mom doesn’t doubt you, Mom is just worried about your brother.”
