The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1352: Black Scroll of Scalith

Upon the awakening of the Fifthborn—and his governance, over Ratmawati City, the Elpida Alliance was put in turmoil. It was only recently discovered by President Sebrof himself, the existence of Ancient Humans.

In haste, the other eight major cities researched their lands for clues.

A lot has been uncovered because of this.

Starting from the artifacts and remnants from the Era of Might and even those older, coming from the Radical Era. Ancient Humans remains were found mostly from the Era of Might, and along that, the history of other races was also slowly unveiled.

Being one of the pivotal figures of the Elpida Alliance, Conan was very informed about this.

He even takes his time to read the latest findings to expand his knowledge.

Having a direct problem with the Angels, he read and learned about the Angel race the most.

From magical scriptures and inscriptions of runes from the past, he knew that the races back then thought of the Angels highly, going as much to consider them as saviors of the world. It doesnʼt matter the race, as long as they requested, the Angels would help.

Most races relied on the Angels as they were one of the superpowers of the era.

Even Ancient Humans had asked for help from the Angels.

So helpful that the Angels were too relied upon by many.

Conan even read some scriptures, that mocked the Angels for being so gullible, manipulated into thinking that helping the battle that doesnʼt involve them was a good deed. Now that he heard this, it seemed Void realized that fact.

But he realized too late that the Angel race was already in shambles.

Even now, the Elpida Alliance accounted for around a hundred thousand Angels remaining.

Compared to Humans or the other Supernatural races, that number was pitiful.

And yet, the Angels were able to dominate somehow.

Hearing Voidʼs voice, Conan could only put on a wry smile defiantly, he knew that Void was firm in his decision, ”So taking over the entire world, enslaving those who surrendered, and killing those who refused to bend the knees, is that your goal?”

”Perhaps...” Void replied lightly but there was a brief pause before he answered.

A pause that Conan assumed to be the hesitance deep in Voidʼs heart.

Just like changing a criminal, it would be very hard if not impossible, somewhere deep down their evil remained, and would never be scraped. It goes both ways, it was also the same for changing a good person.

No man can escape his true nature, for it resides not in the surface but in the soul.

Void was also no exception.

Despite that realization, Conan knew that there was no saving him.

He poured everything into the battle earlier, he used his arcane life mana—to resurrect those under him dozens of times, but the end remained the same. Compared to him or all the other from the new era, Void had already reached the tenth-rank realm.

It was true that Void was still new, he wasnʼt accustomed to his new height of power.

Conan has a chance because of that but even then, it was slim.

Moreover, with the Black Scroll of Scalith also known as the Writ of Darkness, in Voidʼs hand, Conan has no chance. His accomplishment throughout the battle earlier was touching Voidʼs hair, and that was it.

Death cannot be escaped tonight.

”Humor me this...” Conan whispered—enduring the pain from his marred body. ”How are you going to end me?”

Void remained silent, his blazing golden hair that reached his back slowly turned ink-black.

He didnʼt answer the question and instead, continued activating the black scroll.

Swish!

Voidʼs wings unfurled, eight dark, massive plumes stretching out with a silent power.

His wings alone were capable of suffocating the very air itself.

Energy pulsed from the depths of his being, flowing like molten rivers down his arms.

Once it reached the black scroll floating above him, the scroll pulsed greedily in response, and the golden symbols—etched near its edges darkened, bleeding to red. Then, with the might of a soundless fury, a black cross emerged from the scroll.

It was spat out from the scroll as if it were a portal and floated in the sky above Void.

Upon reaching a couple of hundred meters above ground, the cross throbbed—its energy swelling outward, releasing a surge that rippled across the defeated cityʼs landscape, and expanding with each heartbeat.

Conan watched, rooted in place, as the black scrollʼs power took hold of his land.

He turned to the side at the shattered remains of his trusted people.

Feeling the influence of the black scroll, the blood that littered the ground trembled.

Despite knowing that the Writ of Darkness was Voidʼs main weapon of war, its power was still a mystery for Humans or other races. It was rare for him to use it, there was not even a single witness of him using this scroll.

Nevertheless, Void never came to battle without it.

Now, Conan witnessed its power first-hand.

All at once, the blood of the fallen stirred as if roused by a sinister summons.

First, it seeped out from the corpses, pooling slowly beside before it surged—snaking toward the cross like rivers of crimson, establishing an ever-growing vortex in the sky. A hurricane of crimson that spanned for miles and miles.

In seconds, the blood rest of the blood from the distance rose.

Conan watched as the crimson hurricane grew rapidly, blocking out the moonʼs light.

And before he realized it, the city was covered in a void of shadows.

Darkness seeped into every corner, swallowing the skyline and blanketing the city in dusk.

Even though the entire place was darkened, Void remained visible, his wings were gleaming, an unholy blend of red, and purple, casting a haunting light over the cityʼs remains. He stood as the heart of the phenomenon, the power swirling around him like a storm.

Conanʼs breath caught, the scene looked as though it had been painted by a dark god.

”As you wish, Iʼll humor you,” Void said, he has no qualms about humoring a dead body. ”My Writ of Darkness is weaved—and made by a fragment of a dying God called Scalith. It could grant any selfish wish I had at the cost of Life Beads. I will be using it to kill your immortality—and end you for good”

Upon hearing this, Conan gasped.

But he listened, Void lifted his hand and pointed at the floating black scroll above him.

”See how the golden letters began glowing red as life fades from this world,” He said, poetry in his words. ”Each stroke tells of a soulʼs legend, immortalized in these blood-stained words and formed the Life Beads. And with each passing breath taken by my Writ of Darkness, the legend deepens. It is jury of the legends”

Moving his pointing hand, Void turned his attention to the black cross in the sky.

It was the eye of the crimson hurricane, the center of the phenomenon.

”All of the deaths I inflicted on the world, the cross would count it through its biased view. It was a filter—to separate the bad and the good blood,” He continued, explaining the magical work of the Writ of Darkness.

Conan couldnʼt help but listen, Void explained with enthusiasm in his voice.

His enthusiasm made Conan immersed in the moment, his mind was blank for a moment.

At this moment, he forgot about the world and his situation, focusing solely on the scene.

So enthralled that he couldnʼt help but ask, ”What are the Life Beads made of? Bad or good?”

Naturally, Void smiled at the question.

”It is the bad that is absorbed and turned into Life Beads—the God is kind—and he would not use the good to grant wishes” He replied as the scroll unfurled more, creating more and more Life Beads—as the blood, was endless. ”And killing you would cost a hundred thousand—Life Beads, your life costs that much, Human”

Upon hearing this, Conan didnʼt know whether he should be happy or smile.

”As for the good...” Void looked skywards, prompting Conan to do the same.

Just then, Conan felt something wet struck his face.

He checked what it was and found that it was blood and soon, the sky began to rain blood.

It didnʼt start slow, it instantly poured down hard.

Void smiled, he lifted his arms and cupped his hands, basking in the rain of blood.

”It was returned back to the world, allowing it to cultivate the lands with purity,” He added.

Despite the beauty of the scenery and the manifestation of goodness through the blood rain as Void described, Conan snapped from his trance, and realized the twisted wickedness that runs in Voidʼs blood.

Conan lifted his arm and tapped on a screen on it, causing a beeping sound.

”My people have listened to what you said,” He smiled in triumph.

As of this moment, Humanity didnʼt know the ability hidden in the Writ of Darkness.

Now that he was about to die, he wouldnʼt die without securing the future.

”An encrypted message of your explanation about your precious treasure, has already been sent to the headquarters,” Conan continued, sneering at Void for falling to his tricks. ”Iʼm no dead body, I am the messenger. We will stop you, Void”

Upon hearing this, Void lazily glanced over his shoulder with a tilted head.

He was smiling, and his eyes which were now a mix of crimson, and purple blended with the backdrop of the blood rain as far as the eyes can see. Each drop of blood that landed on his body wasnʼt blocked, drenching his entire being.

Void was beautiful, beating even the beauty of queens and princesses.

But that beauty had twisted into something haunting.

It made him way more like a vicious Demon than an Angel.

”I know...” He said as he lifted his hand.

Conan frowned, if Void knew what he was doing then why explain his treasure elaborately?

Just then, the crimson Life Beads written on the scroll came rushing down to his hand.

A thin black sword manifested in his hand.

Death energy coated the black sword to the brim, so dense that it could easily be mistaken— for the Grim Reaperʼs weapon itself. Conan looked at this blade and could feel his Arcane Life Mana responding towards it, shuddering to be exact.

”I told no lie to you in our rather brief meeting,” Void said as he approached.

His stride was slow but still too fast for Conan.

”Actually, I lied—there was one lie I told you earlier,” He continued, dragging the sword on the ground, menacingly. ”the cost of killing you, itʼs not a hundred thousand Life Beads. Rather, it only cost no more than ten thousand. And this sword is the weapon it gave me to kill you”

Brak!

Upon hearing this, Conan fell to his knees as Void suppressed him with aura alone.

He then pointed the black sword to Conanʼs heart.

Conan gritted his teeth and rose to meet with the Dark Angelʼs eyes, filled with nonchalance.

”If you know Iʼm recording you, why are you telling me all of that?” Conan asked.

In the face of death, he wanted the answer to that question.

Despite being betrayed—even though they were enemies from the start, Void was quite kind enough to answer that question, ”I took my time to elaborate so that your Humans also knew elaborately that going against me—is a mistake. Youʼre not a message for your precious race but for mine...”

As Void said that, he plunged the black sword into Conanʼs flesh.

Its tip pierced the heart through before he sliced up—destroying also Conanʼs spirit core.

Reacting to this, the black sword hummed with death energy, inflicting true death on Conan.

”You Humans are going to stop me?” Void nodded firmly, he didnʼt laugh but acknowledged it—taking it seriously. ”Come. Iʼve been lost and defeated by Humans once—forced to run with my wings tucked. But this time, Iʼm not planning to let that happen”

”Try stopping me. I will never lose and be defeated again...” He pulled the sword up.

As he did that, Conan grunted in pain as his body became limp, kneeling.

A vanguard of Humanity was killed along with his sanctuary city.
