Star Martial Era: The Way of Star Light Cultivation

Chapter 285: Chapter 142: Whom to Choose? (Please Subscribe)_3

The visitor who came knocking was Ma Kaishan, a disciple of one of the Twelve Vice Academicians, Shen Wei, with the same purpose as Qu Changqing.

The terms offered were not much different from those of Vice Academician Tang.

Xu Jin listened carefully, then politely saw him out of the courtyard.

This matter was indeed a bit troublesome, and if not handled properly, it could easily lead to offending someone.

After half an hour, two more letters were delivered. Just when Xu Jin thought he could relax, Qing Fan suddenly burst in, stammering, ”Young Master, Vice Academician Liu... Vice Academician Liu is here in person!”

”Hmm?”

Xu Jin and his sister quickly went to greet her and saw a slender beauty in a palace dress, standing at the entrance of the courtyard, quietly waiting for Xu Jin to come out.

With just one glance, Xu Jin was captivated by Vice Academician Liu’s presence and aura.

The powerful aura that Vice Academician Liu exuded was, according to Xu Jin’s Mingji Star Pattern’s sensing, stronger than that of Mountain Master Dong Zhao.

The only question was whether she was at the peak of the Fifth Tier or an expert of the Sixth Tier?

Xu Jin and his sister hurriedly welcomed Vice Academician Liu inside.

”This girl seems quite spirited, and she even bears some resemblance to you. Is she your relative?” Liu Qingzhu asked, looking at Jiang’er who didn’t dare to raise her head.

Xu Jin quickly introduced her.

”Oh, bringing her to the National Taoist Institute, could it be that you plan to have her participate in Star Pointing this autumn?”

”Exactly.”

Liu Qingzhu nodded, ”Do you know the purpose of my visit, Xu Jin?”

”The disciple should know!” Xu Jin thought, with a ninety percent certainty, this Vice Academician’s personal visit was to recruit him as a student.

”No, you don’t know!”

Vice Academician Liu, who had just sat down, suddenly stood up, hands on hips, appearing even more majestic, ”During the autumn exam, those incompetent fools like Meng Qingqiu, Yan Chen, Yuan Feiqing, and Lv Kun whom I took out since the Star-pointing Season this spring were all beaten by you.

You’ve utterly humiliated me, leaving me with only a grade B in the assessment!

So, I’ve come to find you so I can regain my dignity!”

Xu Jin was startled. What did she mean by regaining dignity?

Was she going to beat him up?

That didn’t seem right either.

If Vice Academician Liu truly wanted to beat Xu Jin up, she wouldn’t need to knock on the door. She could just appear quietly and give him a pounding to vent her frustration.

”Don’t worry, I won’t beat you up!

I’m here to take you as my disciple!

Only if you become my disciple and then achieve first place in the next assessment can I retrieve my reputation and avoid being trampled on for years.” Liu Qingzhu was quite straightforward.

”This is....”

”Don’t worry, I, Liu Qingzhu, am an open book. This is not a threat but a sincere offer, so listen carefully.”

”Firstly, the chance to climb the Heavenly Ascending Stairs is offered three times every two years, and I’ll give you those opportunities!”

”Secondly, I noticed that you place great importance on movement techniques during the autumn exam. In our lineage, if we’re not ranked first in the field of movement techniques, no one from the entire National Taoist Institute would dare claim it. We wouldn’t just be top in the Da Chen National Daoist School but even among the three major Star Halls and four National Taoist Institutes, our lineage’s movement technique would rank among the top three.

If you’re willing to become my disciple, I will immediately impart the Fifth Tier Upper movement technique Star Pattern to you.”

”Thirdly, as per the rules of the Daoist Institute, a True Disciple can learn two Third Tier Star Patterns and one Fourth Tier Star Pattern for free. I have the authority to say that any Star Patterns you wish to learn within the Star Refining Realm, as long as they’re not beyond the Fifth Tier, you can choose any, and I’ll cover the cost.”

”Fourthly, a master is like a father, and as your master, whatever troubles or difficulties you face, just say the word, and I’ll resolve them if I can!

For material matters, Liu Feiyan is always dependable.”

These terms, one after another, left Xu Jin astonished, as they seemed genuinely generous.

After stating the four conditions, Liu Qingzhu suddenly turned her gaze to Jiang’er, ”Fifth, I could also take your sister in the future. If she does well in Star Pointing, that’s fine, but even if she doesn’t, I can still give her a special admission spot as an Inner Court disciple.”

This offer was truly tempting for Xu Jin.

It was undeniable that Vice Academician Liu Qingzhu came with great sincerity and a personal visit.

Moreover, this fifth term was obviously added on the spot.

But the fact that it was added on the spur of the moment made it all the more valuable.

A teacher who could also look after the future of a disciple’s family member showed immense sincerity.

For a moment, Xu Jin wanted to agree on the spot.

Yet, he ultimately remained calm.

It’s better to put off making decisions when things are uncertain!

Being new, he didn’t fully understand the situation within the National Taoist Institute. Making a hasty decision could lead to lifelong regret.

”Academician Liu, I am deeply grateful for your consideration and for taking my sister’s future into account as well. However, this is a matter of great importance. Also, I have only just arrived today. Could you allow me to consider it overnight? I will make a decision after meeting with the State Preceptor tomorrow morning, is that acceptable?” Xu Jin stood up and saluted respectfully.

”State Preceptor?”

Liu Qingzhu sneered upon hearing this, ”You little boy, don’t tell me you’re thinking of becoming the State Preceptor’s disciple?”

”Let me tell you, forget it!

The rules of the National Taoist Institute dictate that the State Preceptor, at the peak of his power, is not currently taking any disciples! It might be possible for the National Taoist Institute to hold a ceremony for selecting disciples for the State Preceptor in three or five years, but usually, they are chosen from experts of the Fifth Tier!”

”Academician Liu, I am aware of that, and thus, I hadn’t set my sights on it. But I truly need some time to understand the situation. Tomorrow, I will personally visit Academician Liu’s Academic Hall!” Xu Jin responded.

”Alright, if that’s the case, I’ll wait for you tomorrow!”

After saying this, Liu Qingzhu left with a swaying grace, and Xu Jin, a male disciple, dared not look at her directly as she swayed!

Just when Xu Jin thought Liu Qingzhu had left and he could openly look up, she suddenly turned around with a shake, ”I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow, oh, remember, I am a woman, and women hold grudges!”
