Star Martial Era: The Way of Star Light Cultivation

Chapter 122: Chapter 95 Property Purchase and Encouraging Saints_2

Seeing Xu Jin so young only increased their respect.

A Star Patrol Commander so young could very well become a flag master in the future, who dare not show respect?

Very quickly, the broker gathered several top brokers and selected six properties for Xu Jin.

In the end, Xu Jin set his heart on a house with two layers, consisting of three main, four auxiliary, and six side rooms, totaling thirteen rooms. Besides a front courtyard, there was also a back courtyard twenty meters long and twelve meters wide, where cultivation was possible.

The property was also close to Jinshan Taoist Institute.

”How much is this house?” Xu Jin asked.

”Lord Xu, this property is currently priced at three thousand nine hundred taels,” the broker replied.

Upon hearing this, Xu Dajiang’s eyes widened in shock at first, but he managed to compose himself and didn’t show any surprise.

After all, his son was now an official of the Star Patrol Guard. He absolutely couldn’t cause his son to lose face in public.

This was the belief of Xu Dajiang.

”Then, what if I buy it?” Xu Jin asked the broker with a smiling glance.

”Lord Xu, you will naturally have your price.”

The broker bowed, speaking in a low, chuckling voice, ”Lord Xu, three thousand five hundred taels. I won’t make a single tael on this and won’t charge commission. Moreover, I can arrange for cleaning today, and if you want to move in, you can do so tomorrow.”

”Agreed.” Xu Jin directly handed over three thousand five hundred taels, and additionally pulled out fifty taels of silver, ”I won’t let you lose out on the commission. Besides, introduce me to two more shops, ideally prosperous ones.”

He intended to have his father move to the county city, and it was necessary to set up some assets for him. Otherwise, without a source of income, his father wouldn’t settle comfortably.

Furthermore, Xu Jin thought further ahead.

The path he now walked was perilous, often operating on thin margins, and any day could be his last.

Establish some assets.

Even if Xu Jin did indeed perish someday, at least his concerns would be fewer.

”Shops?”

The broker pondered for a moment, bowed, and said, ”Lord Xu, I won’t lie to you, the shops in the county city are always in high demand. The good ones are almost never vacant. I do have a few shops, but I fear they might not catch your eye.

However, I have a good lead that might suit you.”

”Mm, go on.”

”Lord Xu, didn’t the county government just seize the Zhao Family? Over a hundred shops were confiscated, and Zhao Family’s shops are top-notch. With your status, getting one or two shouldn’t be difficult,” the broker explained.

This was indeed an excellent lead, something Xu Jin hadn’t considered before.

For the next half day, Xu Jin, along with his father and sister, checked out the property in person and then went to the government office to handle the paperwork.

He also bought three well-located shops at the government office, each small in size.

In total, they charged Xu Jin five thousand taels.

The government office originally planned to sell these shops publicly but ended up selling them to Xu Jin at the normal market rate.

Xu Jin wasn’t oblivious—he sent out over a hundred taels in tea money for half a dozen people, which probably saved him at least two thousand taels.

Xu Jin didn’t intend for Xu Dajiang to run the three shops.

Spending most of his life farming and doing physical labor, conducting business in the county city wasn’t the best choice for his father.

He decided to rent them all out. Each could bring in at least seventy to eighty taels of rent a month.

Not only sufficient for a city life, but he could also save some money.

Thus, Xu Jin’s cash reserves dropped sharply from twenty-two thousand taels to just over thirteen thousand taels.

But Xu Jin felt extremely relieved.

He had resolved a potential future concern.

No matter what, his father and his sister Jiang’er would have a stable source of income.

Even if he did perish, the brothers from the Star Patrol Guard would still look out for them, preventing any bullying or harsh treatment.

In the evening, he also bought several sets of clothes and shoes for Jiang’er and his father.

It must be said, no matter where, young people adapt the quickest.

In just one afternoon, his sister Jiang’er had already adapted to the changes in the Xu Family’s situation, and under Xu Jin’s repeated indoctrination, her mindset had started to change.

But changing the frugal habits of a lifetime wasn’t easy for old father.

”Jiang’er, here is one thousand taels of silver; take it for now. Tomorrow, see what the new house lacks, and buy whatever is needed. Don’t skimp on the money. Your brother now has enough,” Xu Jin said.

”Mm, brother, don’t worry, I know what to do.”

Xu Dajiang, listening from the side, couldn’t hold back his words, ”Jin’er, you’ve worked hard for this wealth, and we still need to be frugal. Otherwise, it could quickly disappear.”

”Father, with those three shops, what’s there to fear! I also get a monthly salary of fifty taels.

Oh, by the way, some of my colleagues might come to warm the house in a few days; you should prepare well,” Xu Jin had another plan forming.

The frugal habit wasn’t unbreakable, and its weakness was his son’s reputation.

Indeed, as soon as Xu Dajiang heard this from Xu Jin, he became nervous, ”Warm the house? That soon?

Then we must hurry. Your brother’s colleagues are all officials; we can’t afford to embarrass him!

Jin’er, when exactly?”

The middle sentence was Xu Dajiang instructing Jiang’er, but the last question was directed at Xu Jin.

”Eh, probably in about seven or eight days,”

Xu Jin casually mentioned a time.

This was actually made up; he had just bought the house that day, how could his colleagues possibly know.

Nighttime at Jinshan Taoist Institute.

Xu Jin was practicing the Golden Spreading Chapter.

After one and a half two-hour periods, the Starlight had covered his forehead. Another two-hour period later, the Starlight had reached his crown’s vital point.
