Madam Li's Identity Is Exposed Again!

Chapter 540 -540: There is still a 50% chance of infecting pregnant women

Under his murderous gaze, Kim Zhiyuan nonchalantly sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, speaking unabashedly, “I’m not short on money, and there’s nothing wrong with my brain. Who shall I tell? The paparazzi? Besides, we’re in a partnership now, and I’d like to rely on you to have some quiet days. I don’t want to be on blind dates or en route to them 365 days or 366 days a year.”

Li Beijue’s face relaxed somewhat.

“However…” Kim Zhiyuan propped her chin, curiously leaned forward, stretched out her hand to unfold the crumpled materials on the table, glanced at the content she had already read, and asked, “What do you plan to do now? Tell your girlfriend directly?”

Her penchant for stirring up trouble showed as she added another line, “Honestly, with your girlfriend’s personality, I don’t think she can accept this outcome.”

Veins throbbed on the back of Li Beijue’s hand. Of course, he was aware that Chi Enen might not be able to accept it. Even he couldn’t accept it when he first saw these details. How could Chi Enen?

He had long known that many big families, including the royal family, had believed in the theory of pure bloodlines before the age of scientific enlightenment. As a result, many consanguineous marriages led to DNA inheritance breakage, frequently resulting in children with deformities, premature aging, premature death, or rare diseases. These children were often disposed of immediately after birth.

Later on, as science progressed, people gradually understood why this was happening. The bad practice of close kin marriage was replaced by well-matched in social and economic status.

However, some families, due to several generations of consanguineous marriage, already had the potential in their DNA to produce unhealthy children.

No amount of wealth or treatment could correct these genetic defects.

Therefore, they chose to avoid this possibility as much as they could.

The Li family was no exception. The genetic defect in the Li family was on the female’s hereditary chromosomes. If the child was a girl, it was highly likely to inherit a rare disease with a clotting function deficiency, with a high chance of early death. What’s more, this rare disease could also spread to the mother through blood during pregnancy, with a 50% chance that the mother would also contract the disease.

To avoid this situation, once a pregnancy reached four months, they would take their wives to the hospital for a medical checkup. If it turned out to be a girl, they would terminate the pregnancy immediately.

This was also the reason why the Li family had never had a female descendant for a hundred years!

Li Beijue’s eyes were dark and deep, no wonder he never had any sisters or aunts.

He had never paid attention to these details before, thinking it was merely a coincidence. It now appeared that it was no coincidence at all!

It was a choice made after weighing the pros and cons!

Compared to a child likely to die young, everyone just made the same choice after weighing the pros and cons. But this choice was certainly one that Chi Enen would not be able to accept.

Li Beijue kept a stern face, and it took him half a moment to suppress his emotions before he managed to force out, “It’s only been a little over a month now; we don’t know whether it’s a boy or a girl.”

Chi Enen had been pregnant for less than two months now, and it would be another month or so before they knew if it was a boy or a girl. Perhaps it would be like Baby Chi and be a boy, right?

Since Baby Chi was a boy, there was a good chance that the bun in Chi Enen’s stomach was also a boy. If it was a boy, none of this would matter.

“But what if, what if it turns out to be a daughter? What would you do?” Kim Zhiyuan’s beautiful face was full of curiosity.

Li Beijue squinted his falcon-like eyes and declared decisively, “There is no ‘what if’!”

There would be no ‘what if.’ Never!

The child that Chi Enen was carrying had to be a boy!
