Madam Li's Identity Is Exposed Again!

Chapter 535 -535: Chi Jianguo’s Wishful Calculations

In Zijing Garden, Huo Yi was pacing back and forth restlessly, waiting for their return.

Upon hearing the sound of the entryway door opening, he hurried over, “Master Jue, Miss Chi, you’re back.”

He surreptitiously looked over Chi Enen. Seeing that she was unharmed, he heaved a sigh of relief. He then turned to Li Beijue, as if he had something to say, but hesitated.

Huo Yi had grown up alongside Li Beijue, and the two had developed a tacit understanding. With just one glance from Li Beijue, Huo Yi knew what he had to say. Li Beijue spoke indifferently, “Wait for me in the study room.”

“Yes.”

After changing into slippers, he entered the study room.

As soon as he entered, Huo Yi suddenly bowed his head, clasped his hands in front of him, and solemnly apologized, “Master Jue, I’m sorry!”

Li Beijue furrowed his eyebrows, waiting for him to continue.

Speaking with deliberate emphasis, Huo Yi said, “This morning, a director from Southern Airlines called me, saying there was an urgent dispute they needed me to attend to right away. So, I let Miss Chi help me take the Little Young Master to school. Only just now, I received news saying that this morning, a group of journalists ambushed Miss Chi at the Shenghui Kindergarten gate. One of the Journalists asked Miss Chi some excessive questions, and she got into a physical altercation with him. If it weren’t for Duke Habsden from the Habsden family happening to be there and lending a hand, it could have led to an irreversible situation.”

With a downcast expression, he apologized, “Master Jue, I am so sorry, I never expected such an incident to happen. I should not have let Miss Chi go alone to the school this morning; at any rate, I should have accompanied her.”

“Chi Enen was besieged by journalists at the Shenghui school gate this morning, and I had no idea!” Li Beijue’s face turned an ashen grey, with each word seemingly squeezed out through clenched teeth.

How could he have been unaware of this?

Why didn’t Chi Enen tell him!

“What’s the deal with those Journalists? How did they find out about Chi Enen’s schedule?” This concerned him even more!

Huo Yi had already had his people investigate immediately, so when Li Beijue asked, he responded right away, “It was Miss Chi’s father. President Chi of the Chi Group released the information.”

“Ever since the last incident, he has been having people investigate Miss Chi and somehow found out about the existence of the Little Young Master, which he then leaked to the Journalists. That’s why those Journalists went to the School Gate to ambush Miss Chi.”

It was Chi Jianguo again! A storm of fury gathered in the depths of Li Beijue’s eyes, malevolent to the extreme! He clenched his hands into fists, suppressing a bloodthirsty impulse, and said icily, “Have you found out why Duke Habsden happened to be at the gate of Shenghui Kindergarten?”

“That… we do not know yet. The Habsden family is notoriously secretive, and it’s not easy to track their movements. We haven’t yet found out why the duke just happened to be at the gate of Shenghui Kindergarten.”

Li Beijue’s brows tightened even further, his intuition telling him that it wasn’t so simple. “Keep investigating! You must figure out if it’s just a coincidence!”

If it was a coincidence, it would be too much so.

If not, he needed to meet this duke!

He pressed his thin lips tightly together, thinning them into a straight line, a cold light flashing in his eyes, and then in a suddenly hoarse voice, he asked, “Huo Yi, what do you think Chi Jianguo wants by having journalists ambush Chi Enen?”

“That…” Huo Yi quickly raised his head, then swiftly lowered it again. “I think it’s to divert public attention.”

“He has found out about Miss Chi being with you, Master Jue, but he doesn’t yet know that Miss Chi has legitimately become the Young Lady of Li’s Wealthy Family. After learning about the existence of the Little Young Master, he expected the journalists to release explosive news, leading them to further investigate you. This way, not only can he confirm Miss Chi’s identity as a ‘mistress,’ fanning the flames of the previous wrist-slitting incident, turning the public opinion against Miss Chi, but he can also alarm Old Master Jue, using him to keep you in check so that his company can catch a breath.”
