Chapter 171, Desolate City

Hotter than flames, sharper than swords. Any single one of these characteristics was extremely powerful, let alone when two were combined.

This was Qin Yichen’s greatest asset right now. In fact, during the last time in the ancient ruin below Black Wood Cliff, this mysterious Attribute had given him a great advantage.

[Countering Evil Spirits like the Death Spirits… interesting.] Qin Yichen became increasingly curious about what Attribute his Yuan Energy was.

With the characteristics of his Yuan Energy, his chances of entering the Death Zone this time were even greater.

In the depths of the seemingly desolate Northern Wasteland, closest to the Death Gate, there was a renowned city, Alliance City.

All things considered, this was not really a city. The buildings inside were all just mud houses, making the place seem even more desolate.

Alliance City was Qin Yichen’s destination for this journey.

Along the way, Qin Yichen used his Spiritual Energy perception to avoid many mercenaries. With him travelling at full speed, it only took him two full days to enter the depths of the Northern Wasteland.

A massive structure, like an ancient Demonic Beast sprawled on the desert, appeared faintly in his view. That was naturally his destination, Alliance City.

Alliance City was a city left over in the Northern Wasteland. It was extremely grand and massive. Later, after repairs made by many passing experts, it became a resting and gathering place for many adventurers in the depths of the Northern Wasteland.

The huge city quietly crouched on the ravine-filled desert, like a giant beast from ancient times. Although it was in ruins, it still emitted an aura that made one’s heart palpitate.

When Qin Yichen arrived at a distance from Alliance City, he had already discovered many adventurers coming in and out of the city. This level of activity was undoubtedly very different from the situation along the way where he hardly met anyone.

Looking out from the city gate, a faint smile curved Qin Yichen’s lips. He walked towards Alliance City at an unhurried pace.

Perhaps because the Death Gate was about to open, the streets inside the city were bustling with people coming and going. It was extremely noisy.

“As expected of Alliance City.” Feeling the powerful auras around him on the street, with the weakest being a Peak Stage Martial Master, Qin Yichen could not help but sigh.

The opening of the Death Gate was a nightmare for countless ordinary people, but at the same time, there were many experts, like Qin Yichen, who came here with the intention of hunting Death Spirits and obtaining Spirit Pearls.

To the west of Alliance City was the gate to the Death Zone… the Death Gate! It was the reason why so many experts had gathered in this city.

After entering Alliance City, Qin Yichen first casually found a quiet inn in the city and settled down.

After travelling non-stop for several days, his priority was to rest and recover, then prepare to enter the Death Zone.

At night, even inside the inn, Qin Yichen could still feel a chilling Death Energy raging through this world, making countless extremely uncomfortable. This was perhaps also why no one dared to stay long in the Northern Wasteland.

[The Death Energy is flourishing. Good thing I’ve made it in time…] Feeling this rampant Death Energy, Qin Yichen was actually relieved.

The flourishing of Death Energy meant that the Death Gate was about to open.

The next day, that fierce Death Energy did not seem to have weakened with daybreak. The entire Alliance City seemed to be shrouded in a hazy aura. That aura was bone-chillingly cold, seemed gloomy and eerie, giving people a great sense of oppression.

However, this feeling disappeared without a trace after Qin Yichen activated his Spirit Body Technique.

After washing up in the morning and adjusting his state, Qin Yichen headed straight for the western part of Alliance City.

Ten kilometres west of Alliance City was where the Death Gate would open.

Every time the Death Gate opened, almost all experts wanting to venture into the Death Gate would gather on the west side of Alliance City. Qin Yichen went there at this time to understand what powerful competitors he would face among the experts entering the Death Gate this time.

At this moment, on the western city wall of Alliance City, hundreds of experts were already standing densely packed. Their gazes were sizing each other up, occasionally looking out into the distance.

Outside the city wall, it seemed as if countless sounds of killing were ongoing, but upon careful inspection, there was no one there.

Looking further, the ground began to look ferocious. A huge rift hundreds of metres long tore open on the ground. This rift was about a hundred metres wide, pitch black in its depths, like a passage to the netherworld. Endless gloomy fierce winds howled out from it, like a barrier separating the worlds inside and outside.

That was naturally where the Death Gate was located!

It was also a Forbidden Area of the entire Northern Wasteland. Countless experts had entered it in search of treasures, but with each opening of the Death Gate, a large portion of them would perish inside.

When Qin Yichen arrived on the city wall, many gazes fell on him. Seeing that he looked to be about only seventeen or eighteen years old, yet emitting the aura of a Martial Grandmaster, many were secretly shocked.

However that was only for a short while. For most, their eyes were filled with mockery and disdain.

Being able to reach the Martial Grandmaster Realm at seventeen or eighteen definitely meant that he was a genius, but relying on this level of strength alone to venture into the Death Zone was almost no different from seeking death.

Qin Yichen did not pay much attention to what these people were thinking. His gaze swept around, and his eyes slightly focused.

He could sense that there were many powerful auras in this area.

After scanning around, Qin Yichen’s gaze turned to the front of the city wall. There, several figures stood proudly, all emitting an overwhelming powerful aura.

[Spirit Realm experts!] Sensing these powerful auras, a hint of surprise flashed in Qin Yichen’s eyes. He did not expect to encounter so many Spirit Realm experts right after leaving the Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty.

These people were either top experts from various kingdoms or had come from the Central Province.

[To each their own. Hopefully there won’t be any conflicts…] Qin Yichen muttered inwardly, then slowly closed his eyes. He was like an old monk entering meditation. All the noisy sounds were filtered out.

This meditative state lasted for about ten minutes when his mind suddenly stirred. The clamour around him seemed to be converging.

At once, he turned his gaze in a singular direction.
